We were sorting out an arrangement for something to be dropped off at my home and she finished the text with "Ok, thanks. Bye." Found it a bit odd is all.

I love the tomfoolery.

Bullet Xmas Grin

Butchy, I honestly don't have a clue what you're on about. Please explain.

Which post? Confused

Was it the one about Arya Stark and the pies? I'd explain but I don't want to spoil you.

Or put you off pies.

Helendee · 09/12/2017 22:56

Sounds intriguing but it's the thread about someone signing off a text with 'bye'.

Yup, I'm pretty sure I posted about Ayra Stark and the pies on this thread.

aussielinda4655 · 09/12/2017 23:02

Maybe you have confused bye with buy. ?

Pollygetthevodkaout · 10/12/2017 18:48

Seems like op had gone...without saying bye!!!!

Scotland32 · 10/12/2017 20:12

Most ridiculous AIBU I have ever read! (OP rather than commenters!)
Yawn

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 10/12/2017 20:16

I'd call 101 just to register it.

Ok, thanks. Bye.

PineappleExpress · 10/12/2017 21:16

I think 'bye' at the end of a text is a bit weird. I don't know anyone who signs off like that. It's not really a text message thing to do, is it? Or is it?? 🤔

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/12/2017 06:28

Surely it's just drawing a line, ending the conversation as PPs have said. I might say "glad it's sorted" or "see you soon"", if the sorting out plans texting has gone beyond three or four texts. The fact that the OP finds it so weird perhaps indicates that she doesn't text much and thought of it more as an interactive conversation?

Lilloza · 11/12/2017 08:20

Tbh in a text id find this a bit abrupt but at same time it would depend on the rest of the msgs to how it sounds

RaquelWelch · 11/12/2017 09:44

Wow, just wow!!

WineIsTheAnswer · 11/12/2017 09:56

I often say "see you soon" to the grocery delivery guy despite it being a different man each time and not intending to see him again.

I've said "see you later" to supermarket staff but not intending to go back for days.

I've said "bye" to a teacher I'll see within an hour.

It's just a sign off word/phrase that means 'Just to let you know I'm ending this interaction now'

I don't see the issue.

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 11/12/2017 10:14

Lol seriously some threads just make me 🤦‍♀️ we are not all the same. That is not weird at all. They were ending the current conversation. I’ve said the same it’s a bit like saying bye in RL. Get a grip.

mummyhaschangedhername · 19/12/2017 10:24

Ummm... that's pretty much how I end conversations. Not sure what is wrong about it?
