How many people do you buy Christmas presents for?

Just that really. I only have a small family (parents both dead and 2 brothers, one lives abroad, other I have no contact with) so it's only my DD,DGD and son-in-law and best friend. But I admit I've been amazed at the number of people that I know,or have read about that buy Christmas presents for what seems like an incredibly large number of people. Even when I was at college, many years ago,I can recall class mates saying they were buying presents for their second cousins, their next door neighbours, great uncles and aunts as well as the usual parents and siblings.

  1. All family. Have to start buying in June. Seriously considering "kids only" suggestion next year
NamedyChangedy · 09/12/2017 22:47

I’ll get presents for our childminder and cleaner.

And actually, this year we’re having building work done so probably some small token for the builders too. Need to think of something.

DCs get dozens of presents from family so I don’t get them anything specific. It’s ridiculous enough as it is.

My family doesn’t do gifts but I host Christmas dinner every year which runs into the £££s.

WhatWot · 10/12/2017 00:13

Niece, nephew and a random kid as we are doing secret Santa for disadvantaged children. No adults. They can buy their own gifts Grin

TheBrilloPad · 10/12/2017 00:15

Probably almost 50+ people.

14 nieces/nephews
12 (my siblings/their partners, DHs sibs & partners)
6 (parents/step parents/PILs)

Then I buy for DH, kids, our grandparents, presents FROM the kids to their cousins in various secret Santa's, childminder, 4 teachers, some of my friends kids I buy for. And I'm still probably forgetting some.

SparklyUnicornPoo · 10/12/2017 00:34

Actual proper presents - 17 all family
4 best friends plus their DC
plus DDs friends (they do small gifts at school rather than cards)
My rainbows
My class

mrsmata · 10/12/2017 00:38

11 - immediate family and a couple of close friends only.
I do send quite a lot of cards though - will be about 140 this year.

MrsDilber · 10/12/2017 00:50

32

MyWhatICallNameChange · 10/12/2017 01:06

I've split up with my DH this year so just my 5 kids and my 2 step children.
(I may have split up with their dad but I still love them and have been in their lives for 25 years. Which makes me feel really old!)

My best friend and her 2 kids.

No other family, my mum died earlier this year.

So 10 people in all.

Our neighbour always buys us a Christmas present, we reciprocate at Eid.
