To wonder why MN is so left wing/liberal?

MN hates Brexit, the tories, pink toys, violent video games... you get the idea. But in real life most women don't mind buying gender specific toys/clothes and the election/brexit female vote was about 50/50. So what makes this place 90% lefty/lib when general society is either split or completely reversed? Confused

"Haha - sorry to disturb the tranquil conformity of your echo chamber!"

It's a classic tactic of the Right- to complain vociferously about being silenced and shouted down and "not allowed" to express their views. While expressing them Grin it's like all those tedious Brexit threads "Please tell me why you support Brexit" "This is an echo chamber-alternative views are not tolerated" "No, honestly, I really want to know" "It'so pro Remain on here, nobody else gets a look in"

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:12

I love that hating Corbyn puts you on the RightHmm

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2017 08:14

Can I ask why some posters are so fixated in Corbyn? As I've said before, we have. Parliamentary democracy, not a presidency.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 08:14

Confused Was that to me? I haven't said anything about hating Corbyn putting you on the right.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2017 08:15

"I love that hating Corbyn puts you on the Righthmm"

Eh?

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:18

Are we a parliamentary democracy and not a presidency? Wow! I really didn't spot that. So helpful.

Fixated with Corbyn because so many posters think He is the answer. And as all we have in opposition to the Tories in Parliament is Corbynite Labour ...

Creature2017 · 11/12/2017 08:20

I like hearing lots of different views. I thought in the general election time we had a very good mix on mumsnet with us Tories expressing views and the Labour supporters. Most people are polite about the views of others and realise that each side on the whole means for the best. It is all good.

We all need to watch out however that we never get to a point on here that having a different view politely expressed is regarded as unacceptable. I am a Tory remainer but I don't think I have ever been rude about brexiters whether from the Labour or Tory party or anything in between. You can disagree with a view without being nasty to someone.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 08:21

Well apart from non-Corbynite Labour. Oh, and the SNP.

And apparently the DUP, who are looking increasingly like an opposition.

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:24

Odd you think a bunch with a handful of seats counts as Opposition.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 08:28

In a hung Parliament? The DUP have more power than Labour at the moment.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2017 08:32

Fixating on Corbyn is a mistake. There is a time for pragmatism in politics. Something the Left forgets at its peril.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2017 08:34

And yes, I find the power that's been out in the hands of the DUP one of the most worrying things about UK politics today.

makeourfuture · 11/12/2017 08:34

In a hung Parliament? The DUP have more power than Labour at the moment.

Indeed.

Crackednips · 11/12/2017 08:56

I'm fixated on Corbyn because he's been a staunch supporter of several different, extremely violent, terrorist organisations.

Particularly reprehensible, was his grovelling to the PIRA, who during the troubles killed 644 civilians, 272 police and 656 military personnel.

Even the odious John McDonnell has had the part decency to apologise for his part.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/sep/18/john-mcdonnell-apologises-for-ira-comment-labour

Mr Corbyn however continues to lie and obfuscate over this to this very day.

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 09:05

So we should ignore Corbyn, Bert? No way.
His fault the DUP wankers hold sway.

makeourfuture · 11/12/2017 09:07

Diplomacy is not always easy:

To wonder why MN is so left wing/liberal?
shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 09:10

So, make, you believe the myth that Corbyn brought peace to NI.
The ground breaking handshake was the Queen and McTwat. Not some poseur no mark congratulating a bunch of murderers for having a go at Thatcher.

Crackednips · 11/12/2017 09:10

I don't see your point?

Ontopofthesunset · 11/12/2017 09:11

So just because I don't support the current leader of the Labour party I should no longer hold left wing views? That makes no sense at all. My views are still my views, even if the leader of the party I might typically have voted for doesn't adequately represent them. I'm not going to suddenly feel more in common with the right wing just because I didn't vote for Corbyn and don't think he's the right leader for the party, for all sorts of reasons.

Making left vs right is not about Corbyn - it's a classic straw man. Many left-wing voters are very unhappy with Corbyn.

Crackednips · 11/12/2017 09:12

I don't see your point makeourfortune?

Floellabumbags · 11/12/2017 09:13

His fault the DUP wankers hold sway

Did he threaten to flush Theresa May's head down the toilet if she didn't get into bed with the DUP?

Crackednips · 11/12/2017 09:13

makeourfuture I mean..

Please explain what that picture is supposed to mean in relation to Mr Corbyn offering his support the the PIRA?

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 09:14

Make seems to think that sordid handshake between Corbyn and Adams Just after Brighton was as momentous and significant as Mandela and DeKlerk. What a naive idea!

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 09:16

Corbyn claims to have a mass movement of millions behind him. Theresa's hubris should have been an easy win for him if that was the case.

makeourfuture · 11/12/2017 09:19

Blessed are the peacemakers...
