To wonder why MN is so left wing/liberal?

cdvegan2023 · 06/12/2017 16:41

MN hates Brexit, the tories, pink toys, violent video games... you get the idea. But in real life most women don't mind buying gender specific toys/clothes and the election/brexit female vote was about 50/50. So what makes this place 90% lefty/lib when general society is either split or completely reversed? Confused

@shhhfastasleep exactly! I keep saying why does he keep pretending to do what Mo Mowlem did!

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2017 22:42

Well, this thread has served one purpose at least. It has given the lie once and for all to the idea that on Mumsnet the Right are a persecuted minority, bullied and silenced!

Corbyn isn't the answer.

What the US got to do with Corbyn?

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 07:22

What happens in US healthcare is quite a lot to do with the UK at the moment, as the UK government is currently massively reorganising the NHS to have a more US-like structure.

Doctors back Stephen Hawking’s challenge to Jeremy Hunt
www.theguardian.com/society/2017/aug/30/doctors-back-stephen-hawkings-challenge-to-jeremy-hunt

NHS England’s Five Year Forward View and Sustainability & Transformation Plans (STPs) involve a massive restructuring of the NHS into a public/private enterprise. Much of this is drawn from the US private health insurance-based system. It includes new systems and structures to enable the dismantling of the NHS – the sell-off of NHS land/property (via NHS Property Services), the introduction of alternative funding sources (via Joint Ventures and Special Purpose Vehicles), and the creation of radically new healthcare overseers at the heart of the enterprise called Accountable Care Organisations (ACOs), Multispecialty Community Providers (MCPs) and Primary and Acute Care Services (PACs).

ACOs, MCPs and PACs will be awarded huge contracts to manage and provide whole packages of care. When almost inevitably faced by tax funding shortages, NHS England’s plans enable them to turn to private insurers for “help”. These new organisations are US concepts. The consultants involved in drawing up the plans include McKinsey and US giant United Health subsidiary Optum which have extensive US interests.

US insurance corporation Centene’s UK subsidiary has just been subcontracted to run Nottingham’s STP as it moves to the ACO system. Centene Corporation co-owns the management company of the ACO-like “Alzira model”. The Alzira and US healthcare insurance giant Kaiser Permanente, originators of the ACO concept, have been cited by Jeremy Hunt as the models for NHS England’s ACOs.

Spend a lot of time following us politics and have big us family. The link is tenuous to say the least. We are both western democracies. We have socialised medicine. They don't. Obamacare is being undone.

Crackednips · 11/12/2017 07:45

Many people believe in a united ireland. It is a perfectly legitimate political stance

Of course it is, one that was taken by The SDLP and the original IRA who both wanted to achieve a United Ireland – via peaceful means. But Mr Corbyn didn't support either of them, can you tell us why?

Talking to people does not mean you support their actions

I agree with that also - so Mr Corbyn talked to prominent unionists such as the UDA and UVF as well as the PIRA did he? Can you provide some proof of that, because all I can find online, are pictures of him with G Adams and co?

Meanwhile Nigel Farage, a serving British MEP, has been stumping in the US for Roy Moore, the candidate for the upcoming Senate election in Alabama.

Moore is the judge who broke the law by installing a giant copy of the Ten Commandments in a state judicial building.

He describes homosexuality as "an inherent evil against which children must be protected” and ruled a lesbian mother couldn't see her children unsupervised for this reason.

He co-wrote a lecture course stating that women should not hold elected office.

One of the lectures in the circuit, which Think Progress reports Mr Moore worked on, relies on an interpretation of the bible that they say prohibits women from holding leadership positions.

“One of the most destructive ideologies of the last 50, hundred years have been the doctrines of feminism, which have transformed our culture and have paved the way for abortion on demand, the homosexual agenda, undermined our church, and subverted the doctrines of the biblical family,” a recording of the lecture, which was not delivered by Mr Moore himself, says.

The lecturer continues to call feminism “radical agenda”, and to advocate for all-male leadership. He says that women are “the weaker vessel”, and describes women as unequal.

Finally, the lecturer notes that determining the sex of a candidate is a pretty easy way of weeding out unqualified candidates, assuming females are unfit to lead.

Farage is a twat.
Corbyn didn't want photos with shit kicking rednecks. Preferred beardy murderers on the left.
I hate both of them.

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 07:55

I know who and what Roy Moore is.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 07:58

So I'd say that what's happening in US politics does matter rather a lot to the UK, when our MEPs are flying across the world to show their support for people like this.

Oh, and Moore's been accused of (but not charged with) sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl, and pursuing multiple other teenagers.

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:01

I repeat, Farage is a twat and i know who And what Moore is.
Farage is a regular contributor in Fox News. Their "uk expert". Watch on YouTube and try not to vomit.
Most Americans I know also know Farage is a know-nothing twat.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 08:02

BTW, I meant US healthcare is having a big effect on UK healthcare, rather than the other way round.

Sorry, my post was unclear.

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:02

How does Farage being a twat make Corbyn ok?

blogs.bmj.com/bmjopen/2017/11/15/health-and-social-care-spending-cuts-linked-to-120000-excess-deaths-in-england/

No comments here? Or do you get to decide which deaths are wrong?

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:07

If Corbyn really didn't love chaos he would have got off his arse , mobilised his alleged support and got a Remain victory in the Referendum.

Keeping score Jakey? Love your input btw.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2017 08:07

Eh? I wasn't commenting on Corbyn.

I was responding to the posts about what's happening in UK healthcare, and the UK generally. (Which you seem to want to make about Corbyn, admittedly.)

shhhfastasleep · 11/12/2017 08:08

Again, how would electing a misogynist terrorist supporting antisemite lover like Corbyn fix this?
