AIBU to be really annoyed that most NYE parties in/around London do not allow toddlers?

I really want a propert NYE party this year and DD is still sleeping during the day so we can put her to bed later in a day and then she'll be able to stay awake until midnight. So I was trying to find some nice place with a NYE party for about £50 per person around SW London which would allow a toddler but could not find any (( all nice places seem to be either too expensive (£100+ per person) or for 18+ only…

I feel so annoyed about it! All I want is to have a good time and celebrate the NYE with my family!

Anyone has any ideas for NYE party near London with toddler? )))

Oh blimey! I don't even want to go out in London on NYE myself, let alone drag my little kids out with me!

Staying in is the new going out.

Flicketyflack · 05/12/2017 16:08

Why on earth would you take your toddler to s NYE party?

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 05/12/2017 16:08

I’d be really pissed off if I’d paid £50 for a grown up event and there were toddlers there.

Theresnonamesleft · 05/12/2017 16:09

op did you want to take the baby out last year?

Goingalonenow · 05/12/2017 16:11

What?! Seriously?!

NorthernLurker · 05/12/2017 16:12

Wow op what sort of NYE parties gave you been going to that you think this is a good idea?

Pay out for babysitter or stay in. That's what happens when you have kids.

TittyGolightly · 05/12/2017 16:12

Why the heck would you drag a toddler out until past midnight?

DD has seen EVERY new year in since she was born, including an amazing one in Iceland.

It’s a massive perk of being a night owl (and made up for soft play closing before 7pm for many years!).

ArcheryAnnie · 05/12/2017 16:13

You could make a babysitter's day by hiring them for the evening while you go out, as it's double time over NYE!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 05/12/2017 16:15

Do you know other families with toddlers? You could hire a venue as a group and throw your own toddler friendly NYE party.

Londonbum · 05/12/2017 16:18

Here we go!

As PP said, Welcome to Parenthood (in England, where everyone is fucking aghast at anyone under the age of 14 being visible in public almost anywhere and spontaneously combusts if it's after 7pm).

YANBU.

England

What about Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?!

expatinscotland · 05/12/2017 16:20

Stay at home with a bottle of bubbly. Can't think of any NYE party where toddlers would be welcome. People want to get drunk and party, little kids are like damp squibs at such events. Personally, I find toddlers tedious in the extreme (those days are long in the past for us) and would not be pleased to have forked out 50 quid for a party that resembles a bloody soft play.

PyongyangKipperbang · 05/12/2017 16:21

Welcome to life as a parent.

You miss out on these things until they are older or you pay for a sitter, thats life and the sooner you come to peace with it, the better for all concerned.

expatinscotland · 05/12/2017 16:22

Well, in Scotland, they get round the issue with legislation, it's illegal for children to be in licensed premises after 8pm - restaurants excepted.

Londonbum · 05/12/2017 16:22

Titty I'm from one of them and DH from another. No one we know from either home would think it was weird to have children at a party (or a wedding, or in a pub or a restaurant, on public transport or in any of the other various locations that people on mumsnet get worked up about a sniff of children about). Admitting to slight generalisation obviously.

MotherWol · 05/12/2017 16:22

I don't think there's really a big enough market out there for it to be worth venues putting on a toddler-friendly NYE event - many people won't want the hassle of trouble, plus overtired kids. Big Fish Little Fish and Rave-a-Roo do similar events and even they don't seem to have anything on for NYE.

MotherWol · 05/12/2017 16:22

*travel not trouble

AmyArmadillo · 05/12/2017 16:23

Sorry it's a really weird idea. You can (just about) take placid babies out with you if they're going to sleep or just gaze around them chewing on their fingers, but a toddler running around where drunk adults can trip over them, and hearing swear words etc is a really bad idea.

LunasSpectreSpecs · 05/12/2017 16:24

Don't be ridiculous.

NYE is an adult time. Booze and partying, good food with friends. If you want a "party" with toddlers, you do it at home.

I wouldn't be going to any NYE party I had to pay for with children in tow.

DeStijl · 05/12/2017 16:24

Grin is this for real?

Flicketyflack · 05/12/2017 16:24

How old is your daughter?

deadringer · 05/12/2017 16:28

Yabvvvvu

BarbarianMum · 05/12/2017 16:28

God yeah. I'd totally pay for a night out with my friends, the company of strangers and somebody else's toddlers. Can't imagine why this is not a thing. Hmm

Floellabumbags · 05/12/2017 16:29

That's why I don't drink with children
Aye right. It's because you can't keep up!Wink

OP get a babysitter or grown up and stay in.

Hissy · 05/12/2017 16:30

mmm-hmmm
