Alexandra Burke should move to America for her own sanity

Now that her mum is no longer with her, which was the reason she never left. I just hope she finds people who will love her talent and appreciate it. It's being wasted and she will never get to her full potential. It's sad to watch and I don't think AIBU at all for thinking this.

I think she's a great dancer but she'd had a ton of bad press about diva like behaviour, and it seems like it's all catching up with her now..

I suppose they might accept her fake crying with no tears along with the pretend fainting episodes more than we do.

good grief, the girls not long lost her mother, I doubt very much any of those tears were fake.

It took more than a few months for me to stop bawling randomnly when I lost my dad 4 years ago.

This thread is like my SIL at Christmas when she's had a couple of wines and they replay that Jools Holland episode with Adele singing 'Someone Like You' and my SIL gets a bit tearful and tells us all how Adele was really unhappy when she wrote that song and it shows in the lyrics; but that now she's married and has a lovely baby she's much happier with her life and well done to her, and the rest of us are all WTF this is a real emotional overinvestment in Adele's existence.

Though I sympathise with Alexandra Burke if she's recently lost her mum.

I had no clue who she was before Strictly. She is a very talented dancer and I think she will win. I also think she is fake. Just can't warm to her.

America would eat her alive. She's good but she's ten a penny in the US.

She's got a great voice! She wasn't just a 'contestant' she did win X-Factor and I actually voted as she was great, deep soulful voice. Always been 'what you see is what you get'.

I can't believe the haters who call ger tears on Strictly 'gake' - she lost her mum in August! FFS she's still grieving and sad that mum is not witnessing her dancing success. People on social media who call her fake are just nasty and cruel morons.

her problem re signing is, she hasn't found a good song-writer for her (as is the case for many talented signers), so maybe she would find one in the US more easily, but it's still a lottery.

I can't work out whether all the haters watch the show or not. Fuck me, I want Debbie to win it but I might just chuck votes at Alex because anyone who stands up to Sun ''journalists'' goes up in my book plus the character assassination is getting too ott unless you're all fruit loops and doing it to get her votes via reverse psychology

Back to Alex. I really think there is just too much negativity. Every time she tries to show her face, it's like people are waiting to pounce on her. This is not just with being on strictly.
That's bollocks (in the politest sense!) - I didn't have a problem with her at all before she started on Strictly. But she's been so fake & insincere the whole time that now I detest her. There always seems to be one on Strictly each year that turns it on & off for the cameras & this year it's her. I started off not liking Kevin's partner (can't remember her name) & Davood but they both really grew on me (shame he got knocked out this week but his dance wasn't up to it) - Alex is the opposite.

Isn't Alexandra Burke the one who started releasing all these false stories when she first became famous, claiming she'd been kicked out of her home as a teenager, was homeless and penniless, slept on people's sofas as a treat, started from nothing and made some amazing rise against all the odds etc etc...

... then it was discovered she was very much looked after by her mother and family as a child, her mother was in one of the biggest and most successful groups ever (Soul II Soul), her mother got her in front of various influential people including Stevie Wonder and she had a whole powerhouse of influence and connections as she built her career, and she's never been homeless or penniless in her entire life.

Didn't she then have an affair with a married man?

And people wonder why she's unpopular?

You are hugely overinvested in the life of a minor star who you have never met.

What has Dan Wooton got against her? I heard him talking about her on Lorraine yesterday. He really didn't mince his words. Bit of a shock on Lorraine when everything is so nicey nicey!

So...she might have exaggerated something about her past, she might be a bit of a diva, she might not get enough feedback for improvement from the judges, she might not be the easiest person to work with or be best mates with Gorka (Strictly dance partner).

But none of this warrants the amount of abuse on the internet she has been getting IMO. I don't watch The X Factor, I'm a Celebrity, etc, so don't know whether this kind of thing is normal.

I sadly just think she's unintelligent. The first or second week in Strictly and she was supposed to practise with a book on her head, and she didn't own a single book! Not one!!! A fancy apartment and not a single book.

Did it not occur to you for one second that she might be an avid reader, but would look stupid dancing with a kindle on her head?

All reality shows are fake. That's why every audition on X Factor has a sob story.

So if you are going to put yourself on these shows, you are going to be scrutinised and called out for fakeness.

There is a fine line between that and just general nastiness.

I don’t watch strictly, however I couldn’t STAND her on X Factor, she was SO OTT & fake. BUT, having said that, she did have a really great voice (think she won the year after Leona Lewis) and if I remember rightly, didn’t she get to sing with Beyoncé on the final when the celebs sing with them?

She genuinely did have a v good voice back then and despite my disliking of her, I’ve always wondered why/ thought it a shame that she’s never done anything musically really since then.
