Surely now is the time for a vote of utter no confidence in Theresa May. AIBU to think she and those around her are utterly incompetent and making Britain a laughing stock around the globe?

Sinceyouask, the current stuff might be mad. However, if you study the information and read indepth mcdonnell is a different league of frightening. Why anyone would wish upon our country the prospect of becoming the latest Venezuela I don't know.

sinceyouask · 06/12/2017 14:12

Venezuela and an implication that if I'm not scared by the prospect of a Corbyn/ McDonnell government I can't have read anything in depth? Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that, I don't have the energy for another one of these conversations.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 14:16

Venezuelan problems extend way back. I find it hard to compare the two countries.

GoingIn · 06/12/2017 14:18

I would definitely welcome another ge, we can't keep going like this. I don't think anyone here disagrees with that, even tory supporters. Such a disaster.

Chchchchangeabout · 06/12/2017 14:20

Unfortunately the labour leadeship is even worse an option than the current lot. Which is saying something...

Gottagetmoving · 06/12/2017 14:29

but a Corbyn government will be the biggest disaster of modern times

This ^ is the Tory supporters mantra.
I get sick of seeing this sentence every time I look at a thread about politics.
That's it...they just post that..They have no idea what a Corbyn government will be like...but they just know it will be a disaster....Like this government hasn't ruined lives and made us look stupid worldwide?

sinceyouask · 06/12/2017 14:34

Same way they don't know what Brexit will be like, but they know it will be a success...

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 06/12/2017 14:44

This ^ is the Tory supporters mantra

I'm not a Tory supporter. I don't want Corbyn anywhere near number 10.

Stop assuming you know about posters.

You don't.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 06/12/2017 14:46

How could it be any more mad than this?!

Quite easily

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 15:02

"Hammond says cabinet has not had specific discussion about final Brexit outcome it wants"

Nobody thought to do this?

MissionItsPossible · 06/12/2017 15:20

Same way they don't know what Brexit will be like, but they know it will be a disaster...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/12/2017 15:38

Keir Stanmer strikes me as someone you can have confidence in. He does things properly, he's not driven by arrogance or buffonery

It's perhaps a shame he's not party leader; I realise Starmer's not been in parliament long, but he could hardly make a worse job than the current marxist sympathisers running the show

Maybe they felt he wouldn't be quite so open to Momentum's manipulation?

Madbengalmum · 06/12/2017 15:46

Lots of people haven't been looking in depth enough with regard to the backgrounds and ultra left leanings, not of corbyn, because he is ineffectual but of macdonnell. He would be more than happy to bankrupt the country without even thinking about it. Whichever way you vote, a vote for labour atm is like voting for turkeys at Christmas. Bth parties need to rip up and start again.

sinceyouask · 06/12/2017 15:58

Same way they don't know what Brexit will be like, but they know it will be a disaster

Confused Yes, of course. There have been no reports, studies, assessments, expert views, analyses or anything else on the Remain side which show why it will be a disaster. None of that at all.
MissionItsPossible · 06/12/2017 16:04

There can be as much reports, studies and assessments as they want but until it happens and we see the long term effect we will not know whether Brexit will be a success or a disaster. People have given example after example why a Labour government under Corbyn would be a bad idea yet my sentence quoted from you is a response from you to this: they have no idea what a Corbyn government will be like...but they just know it will be a disaster.

Gottagetmoving · 06/12/2017 16:04

I'm not a Tory supporter. I don't want Corbyn anywhere near number 10..Stop assuming you know about posters. You don't

But I didn't say you were... I said what you posted was the Tory supporters mantra. I see it all the time from Tory supporters.
At no time did I say you were or assume you were. Stop assuming that I accused you of anything.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 16:15

People have given example after example why a Labour government under Corbyn would be a bad idea

Mission, the people doing these Brexit-related reports, studies and assessments are knowledgeable and experienced experts.

Ljlsmum · 06/12/2017 16:30

Let her crack on and soon nobody with any sense wil re-elect the Tories for a very long time.

The place is a mess since 2010, and banks have got away with it.
We're all in it together though 😂😂😂

Justanotherlurker · 06/12/2017 16:32

Mission, the people doing these Brexit-related reports, studies and assessments are knowledgeable and experienced experts

The same knowledgable and experienced exerts that highlighted big glaring holes in many of Labours manifesto pledges, or do you pick and chose depending on the weather?

MissionItsPossible · 06/12/2017 16:33

makeourfuture

I wonder if they're the same experienced experts that predicted Remain to win, Conservatives to get a huge majority and for Clinton to beat Trump? We won't know anything until after we leave and we won't see any benefit or disaster until way after we have left.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 16:46

I wonder if they're the same experienced experts that predicted Remain to win, Conservatives to get a huge majority and for Clinton to beat Trump?

No. Those are pollsters.

Things are divided into different areas. For instance a climatologist will not know as much about biology as a biologist. They may have some expertise in the field, however, and their views may be considered.

You can't lump all into a handy "boffin" or "so called expert" category. Although some may indeed be charlatans.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 16:48

An interesting comparison would be to David Davis. He has no particular expertise, and apparently has admitted that he didn't bother doing any research either.

Justanotherlurker · 06/12/2017 16:51

I'm talking about the economists and banks that warned about brexit who also said that labours spending plans were ill thought out, cost far more than projected and would have a detrimental affect on the country.

But your answer proved that you think on a sliding scale as to which experts you will believe providing they back up your own bias.

MissionItsPossible · 06/12/2017 16:54

No. Those are pollsters.

Some were pollsters but there were a lot of experts who predicted what I said in my post and they were wrong.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 17:00

But your answer proved that you think on a sliding scale as to which experts you will believe providing they back up your own bias.

It is a human tendency and must be guarded against. For instance I believe humanity is causing climate change. I am not a climatologist, though I have studied a measure of physics. The vast, vast majority of climatologists, however, say that it is highly likely that humans are changing the world's climate.

I understand about grant funding of these sorts of things, and factor that in. I know that statistically, some of these climatologists are probably not good at what they do. I factor that in too. I hear people say it is a widespread conspiracy, that goes in the mix.

All-in-all, I think the rational conclusion can only be that this vast majority are not inept, on the take, or in on some sort of conspiracy.
