To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

ButterfliesAreWeird · 04/12/2017 20:07

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Are the ‘peer reviewed studies’ blog entries by any chance OP? Or is there a chance that the peer that reviewed them is Gweneth Paltrow?

GerdaLovesLili · 04/12/2017 22:03

If I use a middle class crisp flavour and multi-grain bread, does that put my crisp butty in the healthy group?

Ketzele · 04/12/2017 22:04

I have not RTFT but can I just say that egg mayonnaise mixed with grated cheese and spinach, in granary bread, is the food of the gods.

Traffig · 04/12/2017 22:04

Show me show me ..

Your peer reviews Xmas Hmm

MyWhatICallNameChange · 04/12/2017 22:07

Surely the biggest influence on what your child eats is you rather than a magazine that will be next weeks recycling?

So if your kid gets addicted to cheese and egg sandwiches then who is to blame? CBeebies magazine or the parent they've watched eating them?

Nacknick · 04/12/2017 22:13

C'mon, I came back again for the peer reviewed studies! Where are they...?

TheSunIsFar · 04/12/2017 22:20

You've truly earned this... Biscuit

Traffig · 04/12/2017 22:21

The peer review studies must be in Mr. Tumble's spotty bag........

tampinfuminragin · 04/12/2017 22:22

A fried egg or egg mayo? I've never thought of that combination before but it sounds delicious!

Traffig · 04/12/2017 22:23

^ "reviewed" that is...

FlouncyDoves · 04/12/2017 22:26

Troll. Or a fucking idiot. One or the other.

CustardOmlet · 04/12/2017 22:27

Well I've wasted an evening, I should be reading research on nursing education but instead I've been refreshing this thread waiting for the peer review discrediting Cebeebies!

Willow2017 · 04/12/2017 22:29

Why are we waiting?
I wanna see these reviews too.

(and i want to go make my cheese toastie, all this talk is making me hungry, hurry up op)

Thingsthatgo · 04/12/2017 22:32

Chegg is the food of kings! (Melty cheese on scrambled eggs). I’d like to read those peer reviewed studies my friend...

bettydraper31 · 04/12/2017 22:36

Just to confirm, is this egg mayo with grated cheese on top? I’m soooo trying this for lunch tomorrow.

gingergenius · 04/12/2017 22:40

Really fancy a cheesy egg sarnie now....

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 04/12/2017 22:46

Cheese grated over a soft boiled egg on toast. Yum.

ButterfliesAreWeird · 04/12/2017 22:47

Wow some of you are so impatient. I was having my dinner...

EmilyChambers79 · 04/12/2017 22:51

Sliced boiled egg with slices of cathedral city on a sandwich. It's the best!!

So is a fried egg on a small pepperoni Chicago town pizza Xmas Smile

MyWhatICallNameChange · 04/12/2017 22:55

But what were you having for dinner?

yumyumpoppycat · 04/12/2017 22:56

also eating so late is not very healthy, I would expect better Wink

HermionesRightHook · 04/12/2017 22:58

Please go ahead and find some peer-reviewed articles. Better still, find some nice sensible Systematic Reviews that prove your case.

Make sure to include details of the impact factors of the journals you're citing and the academic credentials of the authors, too, just in case anyone accuses you of cherry picking studies in half-baked journals, or academics from dubious institutes or with axes to grind.

And perhaps also make sure that you're citing articles that cover the general population of children, not specific groups of people that already have conditions that are exacerbated by the foods you've mentioned.

hockityponktas · 04/12/2017 22:58

Cheese and egg? Together?
I'm not sure how I feel about that tbh.

Bambamber · 04/12/2017 22:58

This post is making me incredibly sad Sad

I an currently on an egg free, dairy free and soy free diet (breastfeeding a baby with allergies) and now all I want to eat is egg and cheese. Wouldn't say no to a sausage and fried egg sarnie with some sliced cheese, but that probably really would clog my arteries

gingergenius · 04/12/2017 23:00

@ButterfliesAreWeird bet is wasn't a cheese omelette???
