Help settle a debate.

Best British accent for me is northern Welsh. especially in men but I'm also a sucker for Geordie and a nice light brummie.

Welsh, all day long. Brummie comes a distant 2nd and I also like cockney - more so since I met DH who’s proper Ray Winstone in voice if not in looks

KenAdams · 02/12/2017 23:46

Geordie. Such a friendly accent.

ItsNachoCheese · 02/12/2017 23:46

Glaswegian and geordie are 😍😍

JollyWankers · 02/12/2017 23:50

AndNoneForGretchenWieners and ItsNachoCheese have yous looked at Iain Connell or Rab Florence's FB pages

East Britain definitely trumps the west. Find Birmingham and Liverpool awful and don't like the harsh tones of Glasgow & NI either.
Queens English always preferable and understood by all.

DullAndOld · 02/12/2017 23:53

the new London accent. Multicultural London English I think it's called, I love it.

snowgirl1 · 02/12/2017 23:53

Scottish and Northern Ireland. Can't believe no-one has said NI already.

spurtions · 02/12/2017 23:53

Generic clearly spoken southern accent. I don’t mind a posh Cheshire at a push but not keen on regional accents generally

TrinitySquirrel · 02/12/2017 23:55

Posh scouse. (No not an oxymoron)

foodfrax · 02/12/2017 23:55

My favourite is South Wales. Let's be honest, most of the south of England has the same accent - 'generic english'

JollyWankers · 02/12/2017 23:57

If you like Glaswegian watch this;

DullAndOld · 02/12/2017 23:58

no it doesnt foodfax, not if you listen. A Brighton accent is quite different from South London, which is different from North London, and it would change again if you went a few miles west, out towards Slough for example.

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 03/12/2017 00:02

NI doesn’t have one accent, they vary massively depending on where you are. Confused

JockTamsonsBairns · 03/12/2017 00:02

So many different accents even within Glasgow itself. Folk from Bearsden sound not much like folk from Possilpark for eg.

grumpysquash3 · 03/12/2017 00:08

Queen's English isn't winning any votes (nor is Radio 4)

Chrys2017 · 03/12/2017 00:09

Manchester and East London

Brummie and Geordie are the worst!

flimflaminurjams · 03/12/2017 00:16

Big up the Scouse accent - love it.

Also Northern Irish (and although beyond the realms of this thread, Republic of Ireland too - especially Dublin which is a bit like a soft scouse anyway)

user1468353179 · 03/12/2017 00:19

I love a Liverpool accent.

MajesticWhine · 03/12/2017 00:21

Geordie

ColinsVeryJolly · 03/12/2017 00:21

I really like a Brummie or a Brizzle accent.

Really don't like scouse or Stoke accents though.

AmIthatbloodycold · 03/12/2017 00:21

I like a Highland accent. Also Hebridean, where it's clear that English is a second language

BuzzKillington · 03/12/2017 00:21

I like a nice RP.

I loathe the Jafaican accent I am hearing more and more.

ScreamingValenta · 03/12/2017 00:22

Scottish Highlands accent is lovely, with posh Edinburgh accent a close second. I have to admit I do also like a good old-fashioned BBC RP accent, though Xmas Grin.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 03/12/2017 00:28

I love a nice Brummie since Peaky Blinders Blush

I say!

gamerchick · 03/12/2017 00:31

I don’t get why people like the Geordie accent so much! I’m a Geordie and I cringe when I hear it on telly. I love the southern accent though, it’s like velvet tones.
