DH licks his fingers to turn the pages of the newspaper.
Every Single Page. (I watched him)
I told him it was disgusting and spreads germs, but he's in a sulk now.

To me, it's right up there with women spitting on hankies to wipe round their children's mouths. yuck.

AIBU?

For context I'm not usually precious about germs, just this. Apparently.

Not as bad as magazines etc in bathrooms for use when defecating. (Reading not wiping obvs). Boak.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 02/12/2017 12:29

He's your husband presumably there is only you and him that read the paper?

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:30

If IABVU I will apologize.
Can't be doing with a weekend long man sulk.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 02/12/2017 12:30

D'you never kiss him then?

Chrys2017 · 02/12/2017 12:30

It's vile! I'd get him one of those rubber thingies for his Christmas gift!
Thimblettes, I believe they're called.

Rebeccaslicker · 02/12/2017 12:30

Newspapers are bad. But what about when he eats crisps?

People who lick their fingers and then put them back in the bag to get more crisps make me feel sick. If it's a small bag I don't look, but if it's a sharer bag or bowl... Envy (not envy!)

TrinitySquirrel · 02/12/2017 12:31

Yeah unless you're rubbing the page on your eyeball straight after you'll be pretty much ok.

Also it's the same germs as when you kiss him. Or is that no longer something you do?

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:31

Surely that's how colds are spread?

OP posts:
MumGoneMild · 02/12/2017 12:31

What's a tiny bit of licked finger going to do?
Presumably you've had worse parts of him in your mouth.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/12/2017 12:32

It's fairly natural to do that.

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:32

I manage to turn the pages without licking my fingers, so it's obviously a bad habit.

OP posts:
Nyx1 · 02/12/2017 12:32

oh it's foul

I no longer lend out books because of this. I have to try not to think about it when I get books from the library.

Butterfr33 · 02/12/2017 12:32

You're not his mother, leave him alone.

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:33

oh it's foul

A kindred spirit.

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:34

what about coffee shops where they have complimentary newspapers?
I don't want flob all over my fingers Shock

OP posts:
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/12/2017 12:35

Too late, I think you may have got a bit of flob on your fingers OP.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 02/12/2017 12:35

I drop crumbs on the paper if I'm eating a rather crusty cob at the time of reading..I'd find that more annoying picking the paper up and crumbs dropping everywhere.

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:35

It's fairly natural to do that.

But is it natural?

His parents both lick their fingers so I expect it was how he was brought up, a learned behaviour.
None of my siblings lick our fingers and I don't remember seeing my parents do it.

It's a disgusting learned behaviour. It's not natural.

OP posts:
Margomyhero · 02/12/2017 12:35

It's worse when the assistant selling me cakes in the local bakery does it to open the bag.

Shock
ZigZagandDustin · 02/12/2017 12:36

Oh lighten up.

Rebeccaslicker · 02/12/2017 12:36

Or... double dipping!!!! Shock

runwalkrun · 02/12/2017 12:37

Is this grounds for Divorce? Grin

OP posts:
daisypond · 02/12/2017 12:37

It wouldn't bother me.

kaytee87 · 02/12/2017 12:39

Wouldn't bother me. I reckon most germs wouldn't live long on paper anyway. He's your husband so you will catch his germs either way.

Butterfr33 · 02/12/2017 12:40

It's a disgusting learned behaviour. It's not natural

Of course it's fucking naturally, how do you think babies learn? By putting everything in their mouths including gasps fingers!
