To ask what song makes you cry

For no reason.

Mine is Wings by Little Mix and I don’t really know why. I’m not even a fan of them, although they’re very cute. I’ve just listened to to the song and the tears are flowing. My DP is Hmm.
The other is God Only Knows but I understand why that would make me cry.

Anyway. what songs are guaranteed to make you have good cry.

Lover, you should have come over by Jeff Buckley

In particular the line "it's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder" and the rest of the lyrics in that crescendo

StealthPolarBear · 02/12/2017 19:57

The original hurt is better

LittleWingSoul · 02/12/2017 19:57

And clearly Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix

Storminateapot · 02/12/2017 20:01

Dance with my Father by Luther Vandross

I could weep just thinking of it.

TwoBobs · 02/12/2017 20:02

Both sides of the story by Phil Collins
".... it's the middle of the night, young faces high in the shadows, while they watch their mother and father fight. She says he's been unfaithful, he says his love for her has gone and the brother shrugs to his sister and says 'looks like it's just us from now on' ".
Always reminds me of my parents' relationship and the impact it had on my brother and I and how close my brother and I are because of it.

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/12/2017 20:03

Arms of the Angel - Sarah Mclachlan and Ave Maria.

kierenthecommunity · 02/12/2017 20:03

Man of the World by Fleetwood Mac, once I twigged it was about depression. The line about ‘I just wish I had never been born’ makes me sob

Demons by Imagine Dragons but I think you have to have seen the video

For a Friend by Communards. Like I wasn’t already howling at the end of Pride!

Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics. When I was in the sixth form a really Jilly teacher did assembly and played it, and told us he had been estranged from his dad and he’d died so now it was too late. And to appreciate our parents. You could have heard a pin drop. Nearly 30 years later I still think of that if I hear it.

Into my arms - Nick Cave

Everyone should hear that song it is unbelievable. I suffered the loss of three babies to miscarriage at different stages and I used to sit in the bath and sob and sob to that song thinking of my lost babies and wishing to have a baby so badly.

My son was born this year and I still listen to the song and cry.

BabyLlama · 02/12/2017 20:12

Puff the magic dragon. Gets me every time

EachandEveryone · 02/12/2017 20:13

King of the Road. We played it at my dads funeral yesterday. He was a lorry driver years ago and always was off on his travels after that. Couldn’t keep still. I’ll never be able to hear it again without bawling.

Usernamegone · 02/12/2017 20:16

Stay - such a sad song hard not to

Sukistinks · 02/12/2017 20:18

Mine is mamas and poppas, dedicated to the one I love... The words of the first line 'while I'm far away from you my baby...' every night, played it so many dark nights. My 3rd son died just after birth and it is still raw as hell after 33 years. His sister was born exactly 1 year after, and on their birthday I am so happy for her but still distraught for him and fall asleep to this song crying like I'm never going to stop. I cannot imagine how my daughter feels about it, her mum having such huge conflicting emotions.

notacooldad · 02/12/2017 20:19

Ok, not exactly make me cry but Ugly Kid Joe's version of Cats in the craddle and also Bridge byQueensrŷche get to me. Both songs about a dysfunctional relationship between son and father.

youngestisapsycho · 02/12/2017 20:20

There are a few that have me welling up..... but i proper sob to Starmaker by the Kids from Fame...
In the video, which is the scene from the tv show, they are singing it to their teacher, but it was also done as the actor was in real life coming to the end of his life from his cancer battle. It’s my fave ever song.

GirlsBlouse17 · 02/12/2017 20:21

The Time of My Life from the film Dirty Dancing. It was on the telly in 1989 just when I heard my girlfriend had been killed by a hit and run driver
