For no reason.

Mine is Wings by Little Mix and I don’t really know why. I’m not even a fan of them, although they’re very cute. I’ve just listened to to the song and the tears are flowing. My DP is Hmm.
The other is God Only Knows but I understand why that would make me cry.

Anyway. what songs are guaranteed to make you have good cry.

Adele - Someone Like You.

Rodrigo - Concerto de Aranjuez - generally played by guitar and orchestra. He wrote it when his wife and baby were both desperately ill and it's so moving.

Dance the Night Away by The Mavericks.

My big strong wonderful older brother, New Years Eve little pub disco, DH and my family all around, both a bit drunk, he grabs me and off we go in some weird cross between a waltz and a jive, falling about laughing.

My brother did not dance...EVER. Hardman with a hidden soft heart of gold type, wicked sense of humour same as mine.

Oh god, do I miss him.

Cancer sucks.

And for some reason ( probably same reason) The Last Waltz by Engelbert Humperdinck

morningconstitutional2017 · 04/12/2017 15:32

I mustn't forget REM - Everybody Hurts.

I Can't Make You Love Me - Bonnie Raitt.

peteneras · 04/12/2017 16:41

This song by Chet Atkins always makes me well up when I think of my own circumstances. What, with Christmas round the corner and all that. . .

Yes, that's Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits at the background with the guitar!

ma1s1e22 · 04/12/2017 16:42

Hurt johnny cash 😥

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 04/12/2017 17:50

East 17-Stay another day. Thought it was a generic love miss you song till looked up the lyrics and read it was inspired by the guys brothers suicide...

Eric Clapton-Tears in Heaven and Circus left town. Story behind both :(

Barenaked Ladies-What a good boy

Coldplay-Fix you (esp when live) Chrismas lights

PavlovaTescobar · 04/12/2017 19:58

Anything that reminds me of World War 1 makes me feel very emotional, don't know why, I don't have any ancestors who were killed in it, as far as I know. A couple of posters have already mentioned The Green Fields of France - the Corries version - and We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn (though the latter is WW2).
The Last Post on Remembrance Day always make me want to sob my heart out thinking of all the young men who died pointlessly.
I would add The Sunshine of Your Smile, which again makes me think of WW1. It does also remind me of my daughter as a baby, though no sad memories, she's grown up, alive and well and happy.
More votes for The Circle of Life and Slipping Through My Fingers.

Flowers for the losses x

Thank you for sharing these beautiful songs, and the memories. This is a lovely thread, both sad and uplifting.

I’d like to add I cried for you by Katie Melua. My loss song. This last time I heard this was at a funeral, and I was in floods. I’ve been unable to listen to it since.

pointythings · 04/12/2017 20:44

Oh, and I've just thought of another one due to just listening to it - Sur Ta Peau by Ricardo Cocciante. It's beautiful.

y0rkier0se · 04/12/2017 20:48

Recently it’s been the “I wasn’t expecting that” one that’s always on the radio. Also Robbie Williams’ I love my life.

c3pu · 04/12/2017 20:55

Stay another day, East 17

Chudney · 04/12/2017 21:02

When You Were Sweet Sixteen by The Fureys. Reminds me of my lovely dad

ThomasRichard · 04/12/2017 21:16

The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot. It came on in the car yesterday (thanks Now That's What I Call Christmas! Hmm) and made me cry. Poor kids for whom that is real :(

LoveYouTimMinchin · 04/12/2017 21:18

Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens.

I've sung it at weddings, I've sung it at funerals. Even thinking about it makes me well up.

howcomes · 04/12/2017 21:19

It's too late by Carole King, such a sad breakup song :(

XmasFairy86 · 04/12/2017 21:28

There you'll be - Faith Hill - no idea why!

Dance with my father - played at my uncles funeral.

Member984815 · 04/12/2017 21:29

Wind beneath my wings , Everytime . I turn into a complete mess

midnightmisssuki · 04/12/2017 21:33

Too many.

Because of you - Kelly clarkson. Reminds me of the relations I had with my mum. It’s made me the anxious person I am today.

Life on mars - Bowie’s voice gets to me every time.

Praying for time - George Michael

I’ll be home for Christmas - because my grandfather sand that song before he died. He lived for Christmas. I heard it yesterday and bawled my eyes out Blush

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/12/2017 21:38

Anything by Adele. I went to see her in June and sobbed my way through her concert. It was so strange, she has so much emotion in her voice and I just can't put my finger on it.

The blowers daughter - Damien rice
Because you loved me - Celine Dion. Played at my friends mum's funeral and it was the first time I heard the lyrics from the view of a child instead of a lover.

maddiemookins16mum · 04/12/2017 21:40

I'm also ashamed (now) to admit that Two Little Boys always left me teary.

Allwashedup · 04/12/2017 21:44

The Scientist - Coldplay Sad

MsLumley · 04/12/2017 21:49

Bit of a random one but 'World without you' by Belinda Carlisle always makes me well up, just thinking about how empty my world would feel without my lovely DH.
