Anyone else a massive fan and still gutted that he's gone? He's the only "celeb" I've ever been truly emotional about when he died 😞

He was brilliant in The Young Ones.

-I've had a drink in the Kebab and Calculator so I'm showing my age-

Vitalogy · 01/12/2017 17:16

Gold, frankincense and grrrr.

surferjet · 01/12/2017 17:16

He was great in Blackadder true, but that was so brilliantly written I would have been good in it.

Bluelonerose · 01/12/2017 17:20

Yes I love him.
Bottom live 1 where the door won't close
"Now listen here. You're just a door. I'm Rik fucking Mayal" Grin
Funniest thing ever

Nanny0gg · 01/12/2017 17:24

Very subjective.

Couldn't stand him.

TheEdgeOfGlory266 · 01/12/2017 17:24

Definitely just put Drop Dead Fred on.

GiBlues · 01/12/2017 17:25

I’ll just leave this here

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:26

Yes he was brilliant.nigek planer was in filthy rich and catflap and of course they were all in young ones.
I loved ade Edmondson reaction to his death-absolutely perfect. I bet many tears were shed behind closed doors.
I was lost at Euston and I overheard people talking about it. I still remember the moment.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2017 17:26

Wombles! Grin

lessworriedaboutthecat · 01/12/2017 17:27

I'm not sure about the funniest man ever however he was very very funny. As others have said The Young Ones, Bottom, The New Statesman and the Comic Strip genius.

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:27

We still have a bit of sellotape on the fridge in tribute

Namechangetempissue · 01/12/2017 17:28

I think he was brilliant and found him hilarious and I was genuinely quite upset when he died. He was a very talented man.

Fireandflames666 · 01/12/2017 17:28

No ynbu, he was absolutely brilliant. Wish him and Robin Williams had a cracking sense of humour.

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:29

I wonder what he was like irl. I suspect very shy.

ConfusedLivingDoll · 01/12/2017 17:31

I loved the Young Ones, didn't find bottom so funny. The comic strip was good too. I have to confess to a crush on Rick from the Young Ones.

The one the funniest scenes I remember is Rick accidentally switching the lights off on Neil in the bath (they were saving on electricity by using each others bath water and switching lights off in empty rooms). Neil protested and Rick shouted at him through the door something like "Why do you need the light?! What are you going to do?! Photosynthesise??!!!".

annandale · 01/12/2017 17:31

Bottom wasnt my thing at all but given the right writing he was the BEST. Kevin Turvey and Flashheart for me. Alan B'stard too sour.

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 01/12/2017 17:32

Loved him. Seemed like such a lovely man too. Wrote some fab letters: www.comedy.co.uk/people/features/funny_rik_mayall_letters/

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2017 17:34

"There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.
"And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard."

Still think this was perfect from Ade Edmondson.

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:35

Definitely. In character but loving. Still makes me teary

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2017 17:36

Yes and Ade's face as he carried the coffin-so sad.

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:41

Wow can't believe it's been three years.

CAAKE · 01/12/2017 17:43

YANBU!

Andcake · 01/12/2017 17:45

I was really enjoying him in man down and was really sad he didn't get to do any more series. I'd always said he and Greg Davies looked similar

kittydetective · 01/12/2017 17:45

Yes. Met him twice and in real life he was lovely too

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:47

Kitty thank you. I love him and would hate to hear he was a waker irl.
I went to the stage show when I was quite young with my parents. I don't think th eyd realised how much ruder it is than the piogrammes
