To ask whether you would become a royal if given the chance

Imagine yoy had the opportunity to become a royal. Would you take it?

I would love the money, the prestige and the legacy.

But I dont think I could hack the pressure or criticism.

So personally on balance, I would say no.

No way.

purits · 27/11/2017 22:53

I wouldn't like to be a royal because I wouldn't like to be any sleb. The constant scrutiny and invasion of privacy would drive me mad.

BarbarianMum · 27/11/2017 22:55

Absolutely! Give me 10 min to grab the cash then I'd abdicate. A small palace, some associated land and a few million would do me. I'm not greedy.

Braceface · 27/11/2017 22:56

Never having to cook or meal plan or go to Tesco or do housework is quite appealing.

Orangeplastic · 27/11/2017 22:56

No -the cost is too high.

Bambooo · 28/11/2017 00:00

I guess if you genuinely fell in love with royalty before you had time to think properly, it wouldn't be easy to walk away.

But apart from the money and comfort, I can't see anything appealing about being in the royal family. I'd absolutely hate it.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 00:02

Not for all the tea in China.

Prince George was born not long after my DD and I remember feeling so sorry for the Duchess having to pose and preen hours after giving birth. She looked like she wanted to burst into tears. You must really love someone to put up with that level of scrutiny!

notangelinajolie · 28/11/2017 00:17

I would love marry a royal but I think you would need to be pretty confident in your own skin to even contemplate a life in the spotlight - which is something I am not. Heck, I don't like looking at me so I doubt anyone else would want to either. The media and folk in general would take one look at me and laugh. I think the job specification requires someone beautiful and sadly that is not me.

tombstoneteeth · 28/11/2017 00:32

Can you imagine never being alone, always having staff around, not being able to have bad hair days, go without underwear, makeup or a smile? Awful. Having no really meaningful role in life other than to be a stage prop and brood mare? No thanks.

MargaretCavendish · 28/11/2017 04:09

To the pp saying Kate could never have been infertile because she was tested beforehand - isn't about 50% of infertility unexplained, ie all looks fine on tests? No one can explain what's wrong with me because all looks good on paper.

DopeyDazy · 28/11/2017 06:23

the French had the right idea they don't have a royal protection bill or to pay for multi millionaires weddings

ZigZagandDustin · 28/11/2017 07:01

Tombstone of course they're alone at times! Didn't W and K have a little house in Wales where they are shepherds pie etc. I think people would be surprised how normal their 'behind closed doors' part of life is.

I wonder if Kate ever reads mumsnet or googles herself when up with the kids at night. She probably has pregnancy insomnia. I bet she'd laugh her head off at some of these posts.

CountessofGrantham · 28/11/2017 07:19

Absolutely no fucking way.

Fancy a wander into town for a coffee and a mooch round the shops? Nope. Can’t do it. Pop to the petrol station for a mars bar? No, we’ll send someone ma’am. Pick your kids up from school? Yes ok but wait while the paparazzi get themselves sorted.

Fuck that. I might moan about chores and having to do stuff but it’s my stuff to moan about and I have the freedom to do what the hell I like.

lionguard · 28/11/2017 17:21

No. Not for all the money in the world

Having your every move picked to pieces on sites like this - just in the last day I've read about stringy legs, bathrobe coats, posing like a hooker, pot bellies, shit about MM's family.

Fuck that
