By your own logic then the boy is twice guilty!

I do hope OP got a satisfactory result!

No need to swear firecracker. Throwing water is still not the same as kicking and injuring someone's wrist, no matter how many old articles you post.

FireCracker2 · 04/12/2017 17:14

dentalplanThey are both classed as assault? hmm So if I go into a police station and complain that someone sprayed a water bottle at me they'll take it seriously? I think that is highly unlikely
You would think wrong then.

Woman guilty of assault for throwing water

FireCracker2 · 04/12/2017 17:27

dentalcavity I did not say kicking was the same as throwing water- I think that is pretty obvious to everyone-I said they were both classed as assault and both criminal offences

MammaTJ · 04/12/2017 17:29

Hope your appointment went well today and hope you managed to talk to the school and have spoken to the police!

What some people seem to have missed was that the boy started the water spraying, she did that back to him, then he escalated it to violence.

CheeriosEverywhere · 04/12/2017 17:35

Admittedly haven't practiced criminal law for years but pretty confident breaking someone's wrist is a crime
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on context.

I do think OP made it sound as bad as possible and only after people go riled up said what actually happened.

For those who say sex is irrelevant here (which I actually agree with), if someone posted that 2 boys were playing around spraying water at each other and one tried to kick the water bottle out of the others hand and their wrist got broken....I think there would have been very different answers.

A lot more "silly sods brought it on themselves" instead of "that's assault, how terrible, that bastard, call the police".

FireCracker2 · 04/12/2017 17:56

..and that's a shame, and I see this mentality a lot on mumsnet that girls are porcelain dolls, women are always the innocent victim.No. We are not default victims we are as powerful and tough as men!

goose1964 · 04/12/2017 18:11

As it was deliberate I would call the police, depending on age (can't remember the age groups for years). They probably will just have a chat with him to explain the consequences should he do this in future, and make him apologise for his actions

Given the age of the boy involved, yes, definitely a police matter. By that age he should be very aware of what is likely to seriously injure someone and to laugh when he hurt her... I'd be raging too.

I had my wrist broken by a boy at school who intentionally whacked me on the arm/wrist with a plank of wood. But he was 10 at the time, got carried away showing off, and was very contrite afterwards. He grew up to be a nice responsible guy with a good Navy career, so the school's and his parents' reaction afterwards obviously worked.

But this boy clearly isn't contrite at all and needs to be very aware that actions like this are a criminal matter that could ruin his future.
