AIBU- at lunch, with both children and their dad, who’s not around during the week. 2 year old says she doesn’t like the fact he’s got squash and she’s got water. He turns round, completely genuinely (!), and says “oh, shall I throw mine down the sink?”!!!! She says yes, and I interupted just before he got up from his chair to throw away his drink, because the 2 year old didn’t like him having it!!!!!! She’s 2! We are grown ups! We are parents that are supposed to set boundaries and teach them to deal with life!! AIBU??!!

I’m not a big hot drink drinker so I usually have squash,water or diet fizzy most of the time. I’m not a big alcohol drinker either, I used to be but now I have to be the responsible adult and not drink. Before you all jump on my previous comment it’s because we live in the country and I’m the only driver in the household so I have to be sensible. Do as you please, I’m not knocking anyone’s choices I’m just saying in my case this is how I run my family and I don’t think it’s odd an adult drinking soft drinks most of the time

Meet my 2yo daughter. She’s been hapipily drinking our tea and coffee since before she was 1 (despite us not drinking either sweet), and would be into the booze (that we’v e successfully taught her is called “baby poison”) if we let her.*

You are aware that, at 2 years old, she has no concept of what 'poison' is? You could have just told her it's mummy and daddy's drink?

Holy smokes. I drink loads of squash. So do my kids. We also drink loads of water, milk and on occasion lemonade. I also drink lots of wine and beer. I'm wholly confused about my social status now.
