Good afternoon ladies.

I hope I'm not imposing here. During lunch, sister has put me on mums net chat. We would be very grateful for a quick survey please. I have come out to buy the item below as a gift for my wife who is also mother to our 5 children. However, my sister is confusing me by suggesting a different item. I only have until 3pm today.

I feel the item she is proposing looks slightly like a handcuff and also rather plain, but I'm open to feedback. She will post a photo in a moment.

Many thanks

Carlos.

It depends on your wife's taste. I wouldn't really ward the pendant (too sparkly, too fussy, too love hearty) but I would wear the bangle every now and then (although I would prefer a plain one). How does your wife normally dress?

Bodear · 24/11/2017 13:32

The pendent is beautiful. Trust yourself and your knowledge of what your wife will like.

poisoningpidgeysinthepark · 24/11/2017 13:32

Vote for the necklace. Lovely.
Bangles are a pain, they get in the way of pretty much everything you're doing with your hands, and the lock and key element of it is quite creepy and controlling in my opinion.

freefromartificalflavours · 24/11/2017 13:32

I don't like either, sorry.

expatmigrant · 24/11/2017 13:33

Carlos, both are beautiful and either would definitely be well received. I'm sorry that you came onto this site and had to read some of those sad, pathetic and uneducated replies.

BoredOnMatLeave · 24/11/2017 13:33

Necklace, just looked on the website and it looks a lot nicer on the model.

crispsahoy · 24/11/2017 13:33

If it were me I would be happier with the gift my husband chose.

I like the necklace better than the bracelet anyway.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 24/11/2017 13:34

Both. Sorry, not much help! 😂

roobrr · 24/11/2017 13:34

The bracelet, without a shadow of doubt.

FizzyGreenWater · 24/11/2017 13:34

You can't take the bangle off? Oh for god's sake.

How stupid - don't buy that. Totally impractical and irritating and it will soon get unlocked and relegated. It's not even a nice idea either - just borderline creepy mised with a bit of silly teenage lockable diaries vibe.

That leaves either the slightly boring neckalce that looks all of £29.99 or asking her what she would like Grin

sparechange · 24/11/2017 13:34

Definitely the bracelet!

FlowerPot1234 · 24/11/2017 13:35

Necklace is lovely. The bracelet looks like a dog collar Paris Hilton would place round the neck of her chihuahua.

HoneyIshrunkthebiscuit · 24/11/2017 13:35

bracelet

FizzyGreenWater · 24/11/2017 13:36

If you were to post some links to jewellery your wife already wears, folk here would probably come up with lots of options.

There are so many great jewellery makers now - fantastic stuff, and if you are looking to spend £££ you could get an amazing, wonderfully original piece- just sooo much nicer than the stuff you've got linked here.

1pregunta · 24/11/2017 13:37

This is a very active site! My sister has the bracelet and says it's a classic, but I think I will go for the necklace as my wife wears more intricate things. I am very grateful, thankyou.

astoundedgoat · 24/11/2017 13:37

If I was going for something dressy, this is much nicer than the one you picked (to my personal taste, anyway!!)

Cartier pendant style

But I'm not crazy about v shapes on me - I prefer round shapes - so for daily (!) wear I would prefer this:

Cartier diamond necklace

The Cartier website is horrible, isn't it? All those red buttons.

problembottom · 24/11/2017 13:38

Definitely the necklace, it's timeless unlike the bracelet which is more on trend (or was a couple of seasons ago).

sparechange · 24/11/2017 13:38

The bracelet is the Cartier Love Bracelet and has been around for years as a token of love and a committed relationship

It is taken off with a special key which they supply with the bracelet but can also be bought as a necklace

goose1964 · 24/11/2017 13:39

I prefer the necklace but that's because I can never get bangles over my wrist

TheWhyteRoseShallRiseAgain · 24/11/2017 13:40

Sorry hate that bracelet (even more when I hear the lock idea) the necklace is nice but only if it is her usual taste

HermionesRightHook · 24/11/2017 13:40

I think both look a bit dull, tbh, but inoffensively so. If I was going to spend that much on jewellery I'd commission someone - there's plenty of independent and fashionable jewellers who'll do this - to make something based on a few of her favourite pieces.

I prefer the look of the bangle and would never wear the necklace, it's just not my style, but the locking key thing is pretty vile and I would never want to be given something that indicated that my DH thought of me as property.

1pregunta · 24/11/2017 13:41

Now she's saying this is more "fun". I knew I should have gone this morning.

You can never go wrong with a beautiful pair of studs in a favourite or a classic stone, btw - think about the colours she prefers, hair and skin colours, and ask the jeweler for advice on what to get, presuming she already has diamonds.

Verbena37 · 24/11/2017 13:42

I prefer the necklace....very, sparkly, pretty and special whereas the bangle is quite plain.

ALLthedinosaurs · 24/11/2017 13:43

The bracelet is one that you lock onto your wife with a key and she then wears it always. Apparently this is a fashion?
God, that's an awful idea. So you ring her like a pigeon? Please don't do that.

The necklace is much nicer, anyway Wink
