Dh wants it 17 degrees where as I like at a comfortable 21 or so.What temp have you got it on right now? Am I being 'nesh' as he says? ( We are from South Yorkshire for those who don't recognise that term) I know this isn't the most riveting of threads so I'll apologise now 😁

*Just dress for the winter, vest and wool jumper. Why waste all that energy and contribute more to global warming? 16 degrees is plenty warm enough, and heating off at night. When did heating on at night become a thing?hmm
*

If I’m wearing a vest, jumper and cardigan, I think that’s enough. I still need the heating to be at 20/21 or I’ll be cold.

Bold fail. Sorry.

Ollivander84 · 26/11/2017 16:58

I definitely have mine off overnight, prefer a cool room and a warm bed
My gas and electric is on a direct debit of £45pm altogether and I'm in credit by £50 so I don't use massive amounts

Ours is set to 18, on for a couple of hours in the morning and about 4 hours in the late afternoon/evening.
No heating on overnight!
And the radiator in our bedroom is permanently off anyway. Plus we always sleep with the window open (wide open in summer, cracked open in winter). Can't bear a stuffy bedroom.

But then we are crazy people who wear appropriate clothing for the time of year (jumpers with sleeves, slippers, etc).

Once house-shared with a very spoilt madam who flounced around in vest tops and very short skirts, and who smoked out of the open sitting room window, and then would turn up the thermostat because she was cold! She was very astonished and most put out when I snapped at her to just shut the bloody window and put a jumper on.

We put the heating on to 17 degrees in the evenings.. but it got down to 12 degrees this afternoon in the living room and I considered switching it on early.

I would like it quite a lot warmer than 17 but the old draughty building makes heating expensive so unless there are guests over then its jumpers/dressing gowns/thick socks/slippers and blankets for keeping warm. I do quite like being all wrapped up on the sofa with a hot mug of tea though so it's not too bothersome.

18 when I'm at home (and moving about), but if I'm not moving and get chilly I crank it all the way up to 20.

15 overnight though!

cherrycola2004 · 26/11/2017 18:30

I hate artificial heat. Ours is 21 in the morning then turn it off when we go to work, when we come home it's on to 18. Off overnight or we'd never sleep. I hate when i've stopped at my mum's and it's on like 22/23 constanly all day all night, bleugh !!!

Oysterbabe · 26/11/2017 18:36

23 in the day and off at night unless it's properly freezing out.

Alicecooperslovechild · 26/11/2017 18:37

19 in the living-room, 17 for the rest of the downstairs and 15 upstairs - too many thermostats I know.

Givemestrengthorwine · 26/11/2017 18:43

Heating is set to come on automtically when the temp drops below 15.5°c and to warm up to 17°c. I often knock it up to 18.5 or 19, especially when hubby is at work. Job means he is used to the cold and sits around the house in shorts and t-shirt, while I hate being cold, wear fluffy pj's, dressing gown, socks, blanket ect, but at the point i need to put gloves on indoors, the heating does go on!!!!!❄⛄❄

Chrys2017 · 26/11/2017 18:44

10–15

PhDPepper · 26/11/2017 18:56

Ours comes on at 8 degrees and off at 17 but off at night and I've turned off the radiator in our room. At nights we sit in the living room with the multi fuel stove on and that's more than enough, the thermostat currently says it's 11 but all doors are shut no drafts and we're toasty. Grin

23 is a hot summer day. Are people keeping their heating on during the summer then?
