Dh wants it 17 degrees where as I like at a comfortable 21 or so.What temp have you got it on right now? Am I being 'nesh' as he says? ( We are from South Yorkshire for those who don't recognise that term) I know this isn't the most riveting of threads so I'll apologise now 😁

I like it around 21/22 but we have the thermostat set to 20

At the moment we only have the heating on between 6am - 8am and 5.30pm-8pm so it’s around 18 in here during the day. If it gets too chilly we do stick it on but trying to not have a ££££ energy bill

Lots of blankets and hot water bottles for me!

CantChoose · 23/11/2017 19:14

19.8

A bit precise I know but it seems to work for us!

crimsonlake · 23/11/2017 19:14

Am I reading this correctly, are people leaving on their central heating overnight?

Munchyseeds · 23/11/2017 19:15

17 you might as well not have it on!
20/21 here, not on at night
Comes on at 6.15 in the morn, off at 8
Back on 16.30 til 22.00
Weekends it will be on during the day.
Do you think it might be an idea to where some more clothes?Smile

Sarahh2014 · 23/11/2017 19:19

Mrs Pestilence . me and a hell of a lot of others apparently.there's always one

Count yourself lucky, 21! The in laws insist on it being 24 in their house, even in winter. Leaves me as a dry as a crisp (skin, eyes, throat) and with a permanent headache...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/11/2017 19:21

Ours sits at 16 all the time with a few hours of 18 in the evening.

We both grew up in metal window framed council houses, so have been acclimatised to nice cold bedrooms, but neither of us want ever to experience the frost on the inside of the windows that were such a wonder when we were kids Smile

We also have 'sloppies' that we change into when at home: thick tracky bottoms, t-shirt and zip tops, thick socks and slippers for the kitchen floor (slate).

crimson ours is always on, but the thermostat settings means it only kicks in if the temperature really drops. I think I forgot to turn it off all summer! It only kicked in a couple of weeks ago! Oh, and we have a combi boiler, which might make a difference!

Cantspell2 · 23/11/2017 19:22

I have my heating on all night mainly because I don’t sleep well and 5 nights out of 7 I will be wandering around the house anytime between 1 and 5 in the morning

FuzzyCustard · 23/11/2017 19:22

We don't use the heating so the house gets to 9 degrees in the winter.
But I wouldn't want it more than 18 anyway.

OldWitch00 · 23/11/2017 19:25

Crimson I’m in Canada and it certainly gets well below freezing at night for several months of the year. So yes I set it to 16, if it’s a windy night the house temp would be extra cold. Expensive to heat back up by day.

mustbemad17 · 23/11/2017 19:29

18 when i'm home alone. OH whacks it up to like 24 which makes me want to melt! My way of thinking is 18 & blankets - we have blankets everywhere. No excuse for being cold 😂

megletthesecond · 23/11/2017 19:33

20-23 in the day.
20 at night. I can't sleep in the cold. And yes I wear thermals and have a winter duvet.

ArgyMargy · 23/11/2017 19:33

“I hate long sleeves in the house” must be one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever read on Mumsnet. (Lighthearted)

Breezy1985 · 23/11/2017 19:38

Ours is set to 20, goes off at 10pm, I can't sleep if it's too warm.

TheBlueMeaniesAreComing · 23/11/2017 19:43

Ours is set at 25-30 depending on whether I’ve put it on or the oh. We only put on for an hour in the morning and an hour late afternoon/early evening. If it’s really cold we’ll have it on for an extra hour. Never overnight and never on all day

Sarahh2014 · 23/11/2017 19:43

ArgyMargy it's a pet hate of mine

KittiKat · 23/11/2017 19:47

20-23 in the evenings after work, depends how tired I feel as I always feel really tired when cold. The heating goes off at 10pm when I go to bed and then I have my own built in furnace to keep me tooooo hot at night. Heating comes back on at 6.30am, an hour before I get up so that I don't have to freeze in the bathroom.

KickingCuh · 23/11/2017 19:48

XDH liked ours at 16! (Hence why there's a big fat X in front of his name)

Kaykee · 26/11/2017 09:09

19/20, radiator is off in my room as like it cold and it’s a warm house so doesn’t take long for it to get too warm rather add a cardi or dressing gown tbh than be too warm from heating

19lottie82 · 26/11/2017 09:13

16???Shock It’s been freezing the last couple of days!

We’re 20 during the day, although it’s been going up to 22 the last couple of evenings then 18 at night.

DotDashBeep · 26/11/2017 09:14

Hot flushes here and DP feeling the cold. He’ll walk in the room and I have the window open Grin

UnimaginativeUser · 26/11/2017 09:16

17 degrees but OH would gladly have it at about 30!

The thermostat is in a draughty hallway, so 17 in there translates to about 22 in the living room but he just can’t see past the 17. I’m tempted to buy a thermometer for the lounge to prove how hot it is!

Like another poster, I grew up in a single glazed/metal framed window house with no central heating and useless electric storage heaters so I’m used to (and prefer) a cooler house.

I’ve only just upgraded the duvet to the 4.5 tog from the 3, and doubt the 9 will come out at all over winter.

We have thermostatic controls on the bedroom radiators so always nice and cool.

UnimaginativeUser · 26/11/2017 09:17

*OH not OI! Damn autocorrect.

Strummerville · 26/11/2017 09:28

We have no thermostat, it's just heating on or heating off. I like the cold, so most of the time it is off. I had it on for 2 hours yesterday just because I had some vague ideas about pipes freezing if not used? Confused

I looooooove warm clothes, nothing better than cosying up in flannel bottoms, soft long sleeve top, wool jumper, sheepskin slipper boots. I like seeing the DC in their cute fleeces too - but they are bonkers don't seem to feel the cold and like to run around in one layer of clothing and bare feet Shock

ColonelJackONeil · 26/11/2017 09:44

I do feeI the cold and like it about 20 but I will go down to 18. During the day my Dh is often asleep as he works nights and the boiler going on for the CH wakes him up so I will wear a thick jumper and put a blanket over me and a hottie on my feet, but I don't like a cold nose or hands.
