To wonder why everything has got unicorns all over it?

Is this a metaphor for something, or a cultural reference that has passed me by?

Why can't I buy children's clothes, wrapping paper, birthday cards, christmas decorations, anything, without it having glittery unicorns all over it? My local bakery has cupcakes with horns and closed eyes with long lashes.

What I would say is that the Christmas toy prediction is very accurate. I didn’t believe if before until this year.

Watermelon slices seemed to be a big thing this summer too. It was all very Club Tropicana.

Have we not already had mermaids? They've been very big in Primark. I think we'll be getting day of the dead stuff and pandas next.

A Unicorn stands for Scotland in heraldry. The coat of arms of great Britain shows a lion and a unicorn; the lion stands for England. It could be argued though, that lions are not particularly English!

My DD predicts alpacas will be next. They’re a popular motif on kawaii/Japanese things at the moment and I’ve seen a few alpaca bits in the shops recently.
