to think it's rude for a workman to turn up and immediately ask to use customers toilet?

Had a guy come to fix a faulty window today. This person was a complete stranger. First thing he says to me is "Can I use your loo". He then proceeds to spend 10 mins in the toilet having a stinky shit. I found this really rude. I understand he may need the toilet but there are cafes and restaurants nearby and he could have gone at work before he came to me!

It's not rude to use the toilet in a place you are working.

It's more rude to go into a cafe and use the loo without buying anything.

Yes it's foul. I have had this happen a few times (with workmen!). Just fuck off and do it somewhere else you foul pig. Angry It's bad enough when DH does it, but a fucking stranger shitting in my loo. No, just no.

HootieMcBoooob · 21/11/2017 16:58

I wouldn't want someone wrestling with a turtles head rushing to fix something, just because i was too snobby to let him use my bog

WhooooAmI24601 · 21/11/2017 17:01

Because some shits are better than others? I always thought all shits were created equal.

OP, workmen generally go from one job to another; my Uncle is a builder and can spend 12 hours a day going from job to job. That's a long while to keep it all in. Toilets are there just waiting for shit to be dispensed into them. It's U to deny someone access to yours because their shit stinks - doesn't yours?

LordSugarWillSeeYouNow · 21/11/2017 17:03

You need some VIpoo op it's pretty goodGrin

specialsubject · 21/11/2017 17:04

Clearly ladies on mn do not excrete.

What, pray, do you think a toilet is for?

UnicornRainbowColours · 21/11/2017 17:05

If you look at it from those perspective. Going from job to job with no breaks, being offered cups of tea etc. Where else are they suposoed to go.

apostropheuse · 21/11/2017 17:05

This exact same scenario happens all the time on mumsnet. YABU of course.

Shoxfordian · 21/11/2017 17:05

Yab a bit unreasonable

Haven't you ever needed to go to the loo at work?

MargoLovebutter · 21/11/2017 17:05

It would be a lot rudder if he took a dump in your garden. Where do you propose he relieves himself OP?

ReanimatedSGB · 21/11/2017 17:05

When you need to go, you need to go. Poor man was quite probably embarrassed.
(Not like StinkyDad on the other thread, in the least)

SarahH12 · 21/11/2017 17:05

YABU

liz70 · 21/11/2017 17:06

Not another thread moaning Viz parkie style about people defecating in their toilets. Hmm

My advice:

Open the window
Have an extractor fan fitted
Leave some odour neutralising air freshener close by
Burn a scented candle
Get the fuck over yourselves

Or…

Send the peasants down to the bottom of the yard to use the communal midden.

sagamartha · 21/11/2017 17:06

How long should he have waited before it would have been polite to ask?

Anasnake · 21/11/2017 17:06

We've had this thread before

Aeroflotgirl · 21/11/2017 17:09

Yabvvvu and not very nice. Tradespeople rely on the kindness of others in these situations. Hope your never caught short.

happy2bhomely · 21/11/2017 17:10

My DH is a tradesman and he never uses a customer toilet for a number 2 unless the property is empty.

He has been known to use a bag in a bucket in the back of the van if he's desperate.

I told him he was crazy but he showed me a letter from a customer to his manager complaining that his labourer had dared to use her toilet and made it smell.

I would have no problem with anyone using my toilet. I provide toilet paper, toilet brush, bleach, air freshener and dettol spray all within easy reach. I would be annoyed if anyone left it dirty though.

WorraLiberty · 21/11/2017 17:10

What is it about this subject that makes it come up so often on Mumsnet? Confused

It's just shit.

I'm sure you've dealt with worse.

What is a toilet for, if not for shitting in?

Aeroflotgirl · 21/11/2017 17:12

,happy, that is so sad, how undignified. I would be happy for tradespeople to use my loo, rather that than them suffering the indignity of having to go in a plastic bag or crapping in the garden.

FizzyGreenWater · 21/11/2017 17:14

not ANOTHER Shitting Man

GetYourRocksOff · 21/11/2017 17:15

Bloody hell you are being completely unreasonable.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 21/11/2017 17:15

Oh not this again Hmm

midlifecrash · 21/11/2017 17:16

I think there must be something like an NVQ1 in Mumsnet posting - you start with something that frequently comes up like people daring to use your loo (Huh?) or parking, then maybe move up to a combination of 2 themes e.g. "window cleaner wanted to use my loo and then complained that there was no bog brush"
