to think it's rude for a workman to turn up and immediately ask to use customers toilet?

Had a guy come to fix a faulty window today. This person was a complete stranger. First thing he says to me is "Can I use your loo". He then proceeds to spend 10 mins in the toilet having a stinky shit. I found this really rude. I understand he may need the toilet but there are cafes and restaurants nearby and he could have gone at work before he came to me!

Thank god most people are telling the OP and her ilk that they're bonkers. I can't believe some people's attitudes towards manual workers, it's like bloody apartheid.

YoloSwaggins · 22/11/2017 00:02

Most people don't use other peoples toilets or even public ones.
They wait until they get home and use their own.

What?! You hold in your shit all day?!?!

I always go for a #2 at work. 1, because when you gotta go you gotta go, and 2, I'm literally being paid to shit.

JonSnowsWife · 22/11/2017 06:38

I was always told it was really bad to hold your poo in all day.

The thought is gross actually. I bet you fart a lot if you’re holding your shit in all day. Hmm

Drinaballerina · 22/11/2017 06:45

My builders brought a portoloo with them, I was v impressed!

londonrach · 22/11/2017 06:50

Yabu and abit strange. Its a toilet, what else do you use it for. I really dont get this on mn. I do home visits and youve gotto go somewhere. Never had anyone say no to me. Mind you i know them. As for the cafe arguement. Who has time for that when working. All those toilet snowflakes should spend a day with someone who has no base and realise how difficult it is.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 22/11/2017 07:43

At people saying "ought to be able to wait", you've clearly never had ibs, got the runs when you get nervous or suffered from anything else that makes your movements unpredictable. If you did you'd be kinder because it's embarrassing and potentially humiliating.

Magicnumbers · 22/11/2017 08:33

Some of the snobbery on here is just offensive. Although, to be fair, my butler produces a nicer smelling shit than the gardener, so maybe it’s a valid point.

Really, when did people get so nasty about manual workers? Most of my relatives are in this category, some of the views expressed here betray a horrible attitude to another human being.

JonSnowsWife · 22/11/2017 08:51

Strange isn't it MagicNumbers? It's like I've wandered in to the virtual world of Downton Abbey.

Ginslinger · 22/11/2017 08:51

these threads baffle me - someone shitting on your decking or in the hot tub, yes you have a point. Shitting in the toilet, that's life.

bluebells1 · 22/11/2017 08:52

Why do so many people have a problem with others using their loo? Let them use it. you go in later and pour some bleach down, wipe the seat with dettol, job done.

PortiaCastis · 22/11/2017 09:23

Obviously some people shit gold nuggets and other humans crap is beneath them

Freddiesfling · 22/11/2017 21:38

It's comes across very "them" and "us" on this thread as if workmen are somehow unworthy and their normal bodily functions are something to be ashamed of.... we are all mortal, we all eat, sleep, shit and die!!!
Some people need to get over themselves and their sweet smelling sparkly gift wrapped shit!!!

Or just had a strong coffee that morning!

Thought of this...

to think it's rude for a workman to turn up and immediately ask to use customers toilet?
BarbaraofSevillle · 23/11/2017 08:56

Perhaps if you can't cope with tradespeople using your toilet while they are working for you, you should fix your own windows, build your own extensions and fit your own kitchens? Problem solved.

Toilets are for using for their intended purpse and most people just use the nearest one when they need to go.

Mandraki · 23/11/2017 09:27

Everybody poos OP. Even you (I assume). Do you not poo at work? I don’t understand the whole being disgusted by someone pooing in a toilet in a room where you’re meant to poo. I’d be put out if he didn’t wash his hands or if he wiped his bum on my good towels or something, but at the end of the day it’s just a person pooing. I poo, you poo, we all poo. (Feels like a French lesson, all those verbs).

Emlou07 · 23/11/2017 11:16

Yes you are being unreasonable. Would you rather let him use your loo or rush whatever he's going because he's desperate?

As long as he didn't miss and shit on your floor, there should be no issue.

Open a window... Hmm

georgie262 · 23/11/2017 11:22

My dads a plumber and would ask to use the loo for a quick wee if he was working in a house but says he'd go to the nearest cafe for a cuppa if he needed a poo!
