To ask for my money?

Kellyopio · 17/11/2017 21:20

In March I paid for concert tickets for me,my friend and her cousin.
They were £50 each.
My friend paid a week later but her cousin never paid.
I sent her a message and pic when the tickets arrived and reminded her they were £50.
8 months later no payment and concert is Sunday.
She is writing on her Facebook she is excited and can't wait but I don't think she's going to pay.
I asked my friend and she said she doubts she will pay for the ticket.
I asked my friend can she speak to her cousin and remind her about the £50 and she refused.
What would you do now?
Let her go for free?

I second FB - I sell all my stuff through FB pages now! It's so easy to do and you can go local or national. Jusy go to the event page and write that you have a spare - if the concert is sold out you'll be guaranteed a sale. Usually, you will see people on there asking for spare tickets too.

tupsadaisy · 18/11/2017 10:42

Two in a few weeks?? CF everywhere

Elend · 18/11/2017 10:49

"Hi CF, really looking forward to the concert on whenever. Was wondering if you still wanted to come as you haven't paid for the ticket yet? It's £50 and I need it by whenever date or else I'll have to sell it on, as that is a lot of money for me to be out. Let me know and I can sent you paypal/bank details asap. Thanks!"

ijustwannadance · 18/11/2017 10:50

Do not be guilted into letting her go for free or woth a promise she will pay afterwards. You will never see a penny.

actually.. if you allow her to have the ticket... she will NEVER pay you ... and you have nothing to barter with OP... Hmm

VioletCharlotte · 18/11/2017 11:23

Has the show sold out? There are bound to be touts outside buying tickets.

sonjadog · 18/11/2017 12:03

If she can´t afford it, then you reply - No worries, I´ll sell it on.

magoria · 18/11/2017 12:14

I reckon she has paid your friend which is why your friend isn't getting involved.

You need to go straight to her post to get to her your friend isn't going to give you her contact details

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 18/11/2017 12:14

why is your friend not asking her that’s just as cheeky as it’s her cousin so say e she invited her, slightly strange. Otherwise just tell her you need the money and do it soon. As you won’t have a chance to sell it.

AddictedtoAIBU · 18/11/2017 12:14

You definitely have the moral high ground here. If she pays now, she is still rude for not getting the money she owes to you asap. If she doesn't pay she is very, very bloody rude for putting you £50 out of pocket and having you run around at the last minute to sell a ticket. A single ticket isn't going to sell as well as a pair or more.
I would message:
Hi, bit concerned to have not received the £50 owed so close to the date. Can you transfer asap as otherwise I will have to try and sell the ticket. If you can't pay, can you let me know asap so I have some chance of recouping cost please?
I don't think subtle or nice will work sadly.

magoria · 18/11/2017 12:15

Don't let her have the ticket if she doesn't pay. That is how these people get away with these things. Stub hub or similar today of you get no response.

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/11/2017 12:18

Just stick a message up on FB saying “one ticket available for on £50” if she comments just say you assumed she didn’t want it as she hadn’t paid or contacted you

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2017 12:25

Or you could reply to one of her excited posts,, "glad you got sorted with a ticket, might see you there!"

Oddmanout · 18/11/2017 12:26

Ebay or FB are good places to sell

Don't tell her to BRING the money with her as if she doesn't she'll still expect to go in and you'll let her. You want it in advance or you'll sell the ticket!

Kellyopio · 18/11/2017 12:32

Show is sold out totally not one seat remaining so I'm assuming they will be ticket touts..only thing which may go against me is its a seated ticket ...so not many people would want to go alone.
You never know tho ...
I've sent her the message,I included my bank details
No response as yet ..

Good on you OP!

AlternativeTentacle · 18/11/2017 12:37

so not many people would want to go alone

Don't bank on it - I go to gigs on my own all the time.

Spadequeen · 18/11/2017 12:42

I would rather lose £50 and have a spare seat next to me than let her go. She’s being a cf and you have allowed her to get away with it.

You now have to stay strong when she comes back with the so. Stories of how she ‘doesn’t have enough money this month but I’ll definitely get it to you next month’. Then of course it will be Christmas, then Christmas credit card bi, then she’s banking on you being too embarrassed to ask again. Do not let her freeload. And don’t buy tickets for her again.

toomuchicecream · 18/11/2017 12:43

What about putting it on stub hub?

Guardsman18 · 18/11/2017 12:44

And please read my thread! It really helped me so much. I got my money and for those of you who are interested - my £20 plus a lovely dinner made for me!

OP - stick to your guns. You'll feel loads better I swear x

IslingtonLou · 18/11/2017 12:46

Tweet that you have 1 seated ticket for x concert, people looking for tickets will definitely search twitter for last minute sellers

SwimmingInLemonade · 18/11/2017 12:47

You hav absolutely nothing to lose, even if you can't resell the ticket (which you WILL be able to!) If you hand over the ticket you'll never get her to pay up, so you'd potentially be losing £50 anyway. At least if you keep the ticket you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that her cheeky fuckery didn't pay off.

IslingtonLou · 18/11/2017 12:48

You can and will be able to find a buyer!

Ginfiend · 18/11/2017 12:54

Sorry to go off on a tangent but...
Couple of posters are mentioning that they can apple pay each other- How do you do this as I thought it wasn't activated yet?
