To ask for my money?

In March I paid for concert tickets for me,my friend and her cousin.
They were £50 each.
My friend paid a week later but her cousin never paid.
I sent her a message and pic when the tickets arrived and reminded her they were £50.
8 months later no payment and concert is Sunday.
She is writing on her Facebook she is excited and can't wait but I don't think she's going to pay.
I asked my friend and she said she doubts she will pay for the ticket.
I asked my friend can she speak to her cousin and remind her about the £50 and she refused.
What would you do now?
Let her go for free?

Just text the cousin. I'm taking it you don't still want the ticket so I'm going to sell it on.

MissDuke · 19/11/2017 12:00

OP be sure and tell the cousin that the ticket is for sale. Enjoy!

StealthPolarBear · 19/11/2017 12:01

Op so what's the latest? Are you snd friend still going? Does cousin know she's not coming

Lweji · 19/11/2017 12:02

I'm really curious.
If your friend doesn't tell her cousin you're selling the ticket, will the cousin show up to the concert?
Or maybe she doesn't think you will actually sell it?

Lweji · 19/11/2017 12:03

My guess is cousin also owes friend money and she's setting her up for a lesson (without getting involved), or she thinks you'll back down and still give it to her without payment.

Won't it be weird between you and your friend at the concert?

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 19/11/2017 12:04

Shamelessly placemarking Grin

Jaxhog · 19/11/2017 12:06

*Your friend doubts her cousin will pay for the ticket?

I doubt she'll be going then grin. She'd get one message from me saying if I've not had the cash by lunchtime tomorrow she won't be getting the ticket. I'd tell her my DP will be going instead.

(Even if that's a lie) I would BURN the ticket rather than hand it over, frankly.*

Totally agree. No money, no ticket.

I’m pleased it wasn’t a complete Tragedy. Then again some things are Better Best Forgotten Wink

expatinscotland · 19/11/2017 12:10

'Yeah I've told friend and she said ok then ..that was the response.
Then she just said she would mention it but didn't feel comfortable doing so (even tho they talk daily ...anywaaaaaay)'

Honestly, she is ripping hte piss out of you just as much as this cousin. Both of them have tried to mug you off here. She's no friend.

MinervaSaidThar · 19/11/2017 12:14

How far are you from London? Just trying to see if cousin was taking the piss charging each person £20 for petrol.

DeegeeDee · 19/11/2017 12:33

Seen what you did there Cherry :-)

RebeccatheOld · 19/11/2017 12:40

Good for you OP.

I'd be wary of going out with this 'friend' again. Doesn't sound like she has your back.

Enjoy the concert, I bet they are brill!

charlestonchaplin · 19/11/2017 12:51

Just as well you've got an extra day to sell the ticket. Why on earth would you leave it so late?

BSJohnson · 19/11/2017 13:16

I think the cousin has got a ticket off someone else, and doesn't want to admit it to you. Good luck selling your spare, and have a great gig!

Booboobooboo84 · 19/11/2017 13:20

Saw steps a few years ago and they were really good. And with a band like that people will be happy to snap up the ticket that you offer. Have fun

RavenBlack · 19/11/2017 13:47

I like Steps. Blush

Don't let the lass have the ticket. Tell her it's been sold.

Your friend is as bad as her cousin for not telling her to pay you!

DarkPeakScouter · 19/11/2017 13:56

That’s shocking!

notapizzaeater · 19/11/2017 14:13

Have you put it in Facebook ? I’ve sold tickets on there before for ticket price.

LouHotel · 19/11/2017 14:16

I'm so overly invested in this and slightly gobsmacked that steps are able to sell tickets for £50.

InvisibleKittenAttack · 19/11/2017 17:29

Of course Steps can sell tickets for £50 - their fans are now in their 30s and can afford it, and as it'll be mainly woman going with mates, they'll be only paying for a ticket each, this isn't a date night event costing a couple £100! Grin

Hope you get a buyer, if you don't, still don't let the cousin have the ticket.

ijustwannadance · 19/11/2017 17:42

I went to see Steps on their reunion tour a couple of years ago. They were great!

FlouncyDoves · 19/11/2017 17:59

eBay it?

DarkPeakScouter · 19/11/2017 18:02

Did you sell it?

wowfudge · 19/11/2017 18:05

Mainly women? I have so many male gay mates who are into Steps!

Katherine2626 · 19/11/2017 18:10

I doubt she'll be going too - cheek! I would give her one last chance and say that you expect the money by * or she will not get the ticket. Even if you have to sell it at half price you will be less out of pocket and she won't get a free ride. I couldn't enjoy the concert or be civil to someone who was blatantly trying to con me out of money, and neither would I fall for 'I'm a bit hard up really sorry really looking forward to it and I'm going to pay you next week '. No money, no ticket.
