to wonder why Corbyn isn't more popular considering the battering Theresa May/the Tories is getting?

The Tories/Theresa May have been getting an absolute kicking in the press recently (rightly deserved) and every day there seems to be a new controversy. May seems completely inefficient and doesn't seem to know whether she is coming or going (literally).

However, I am surprised that Corbyn/Labour is not polling higher. On all the polls I have looked at his rating seems to be either equal to, very slightly above or very slightly below May. He should be well out in front at this point.

I am not a Corbyn/Labour fan (although agree with a lot of their policies) but I am wondering why is he not polling better?

Looking back over GE the Tories won in 1931 with 55% a few 47/48% after the war (mainly Tory
wins) since the late 1960’s it’s been much lower percentage that has won the elections

hattyhighlighter · 20/11/2017 12:29

What the momentum bots don't seem to realise is the way they consistently refuse to listen, stifle debate and just parrot corbynista soundbites is very off-putting. If that's what the Corbyn communist government promises alongside re-nationalisation (dinosaur backwards step in my view) and a lot more power to trade unions (ditto) loss of nuclear protection (utterly bonkers) and constant battering of the rich who are supposedly 'never going to leave the country' then it is not something I would like to sign up for at all and doesn't seem like Scandinavian style progressive thinking in any way shape or form.

alongside re-nationalisation (dinosaur backwards step in my view)

Above is a post listing nationalised industries that have done very well. Is private better? Roads? Military?

MistressDeeCee · 20/11/2017 14:37

He isn't popular as there are so many media-led people. Theres nothing major he has (or hasnt) done at all to warrant the hatred. Some of the statements made against him sound as if they've been lifted from the right wing press. Some are almost word for word. It's embarrassing how people will trot out media-speak and somehow their mind will convince them that it was original thought and speech. The rise of Mudoch's biddable army, with Teresa May 2nd in command

hattyhighlighter · 20/11/2017 14:44

So you actually think anyone who doesn't like Corbyn, McDonnell, Diane Abbot, momentum or extreme left wing views/agenda is solely influenced by the right wing press and is incapable of forming their own opinion.
Shock

shhhfastasleep · 20/11/2017 14:47

I “ dislike Corbyn, McDonnell, Diane Abbot, momentum or extreme left wing views/agenda” because I am old enough to remember what this shit does to the Labour Party. First time in my life I can’t vote Labour.
But call me a fucking nazi if it makes you feel better.

makeourfuture · 20/11/2017 15:31

But call me a fucking nazi if it makes you feel better.

Watch out now, they called me one!!

*Weren't Nazis right-wing btw? Has that changed?

Gingernaut · 20/11/2017 15:42

Yeah. We're all at the mercy of the right wing press, incapable of making any decisions at all without consulting Murdoch and we all live in a FaceBook echo chamber where we just reinforce our own prejudiced stereotypes.

We want to vote for someone!

We want to vote for a credible opposition to Teresa May and her Conservative Party.

We can't see one!!

Corbyn's Momentum is nothing like the Labour Party I recognise and their mad cross between Trump style 'fake news', helpless parrotting of doctrine and steamrollering over debate with quotes from the manifesto is just absurd.

At this point, there is no one I can bring myself to vote for.

Greens and Labour are throwing women under the bus as far as trans issues go, Conservatives seem to be happy to exterminate anyone too frail to work, the Lib Dems are not even on the horizon.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 20/11/2017 16:00

Theres nothing major he has (or hasnt) done at all to warrant the hatred.

In your opinion.

somanyusernames · 20/11/2017 16:09

I agree with gingernaut, Corbyn & his cronies are as bad as the tories, UK politics is at some sort of nadir at the moment.

Wow this thread is descending fast, just like all other threads about Politics. Momentum bots just bleat on that the Conservatives didn't actually win the election and are systematically killing all the poor and disabled. Whilst the hard left messiah is on the brink of sweeping to power bringing free everything to everyone at no cost except the mythical 1% who will be imprisoned.

Gingernaut · 20/11/2017 16:57

amicissimma - just how is quibbling over the maths, helping this argument??

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 20/11/2017 19:18

Oh yes we are all totally brainwashed by the right wing media not able to think for ourselves not able to research old reports haven’t watched Corbyn squirm when being questioned by clever political commentators and not able to work out that the labour manifesto just didn’t add up

Yes all brainwashed and all have the same reasons why we will not support Labour while Corbyn and McDonnell lead the party

Now let’s hear something original from the Momentum posse

Gingernaut · 20/11/2017 20:05

Now let’s hear something original from the Momentum posse

Good luck with that EnthusiasmIsDisturbed. I'm not holding my breath.

somanyusernames · 21/11/2017 13:09

i'm sure like many moderates, i'm hoping father christmas brings us better labour politicians to vote for in the new year - that said, how long will it take us to trust the labour party again? i've recently given up and cancelled my membership as i'm not happy to give money to the party at the moment.

tbh - I can't think of a single front bencher in either the conservative or the labour party that I have respect for.

Gingernaut · 28/11/2017 14:08

The slogan.

And one of the major reasons I can't bring myself to join or vote Labour for the forseeable future......

Cunts like this, part of the Momentum movement within an already established political party, helping to bully a good woman out of her position as Women's Officer and putting a teenage, trans'woman' puppet in her place.

Oh. Here you go. The slogan.

to wonder why Corbyn isn't more popular considering the battering Theresa May/the Tories is getting?
Rebeccaslicker · 28/11/2017 16:02

I'm glad there's an "other" button there ginger. I can think of a few things I'd send them other than money Grin

makeourfuture · 28/11/2017 16:14

helping to bully a good woman out of her position as Women's Officer

Did Momentum help bully this person?

Rebeccaslicker · 28/11/2017 16:15

I think you're probably best placed to answer that, momentumourfuture!

LadyinCement · 28/11/2017 16:26

Do you post about anything else on Mumsnet, makeourfuture? Or do you lurk somewhere Momentumy, ready to pounce if you get an alert that a Corbyn discussion is taking place on some forum or other?

makeourfuture · 28/11/2017 16:33

Do you post about anything else on Mumsnet, makeourfuture?

Well they've got me doing Digital Spy now too. So that's four all together. Every time I get a cup of tea up pops a little box.

Rebeccaslicker · 28/11/2017 16:40

Whoa, was that a flash of humour????!
