On Christmas presents. I decided to keep track this year as I went a bit mad last time.
I've spent 110 up to now, that is between 6 people and I have nearly finished buying for three of them.
I seem to be doing well up to now but I always look at the presents under the tree just before Christmas and decide it doesn't look like enough and then order loads of crap

We probably spend £1500 -£2000 in total, but that covers all food and drink (I usually cook for 6-10 for lunch and about 20 for a late tea on Christmas day), Christmas experiences, presents for our DD and DSC and all of the extended family.

soontobemrsmckeown · 11/11/2017 09:57

Bout 700 so far but that's on 16 people for gifts and my dd for her jan birthday. Dd is all done bar sweets and a few stocking fillers. Want to spend about 150 more on the boyfriend as not got him anything yet and then I'm done till next year for buying gifts.
Budget for everything was 1000 including birthday gifts for dd so happy I've come under for the 1st year ever and I've bought for more people this year.

BadLad · 12/11/2017 06:32

100 on Dad
500 on DW
Whatever she has spent on me.
30 on nephews and niece.

MaryShelley1818 · 12/11/2017 07:48

So far about £250 and that includes parents (and their cats), parents best friends, DP's main present, baby's presents (I'm due in 2.5wks), 2 nephews and niece, best friend.
I always start in early summer and just buy 1-2 things a month which helps spread the cost and I don't have to worry! I've still got probably another £100 to spend on sweets/chocs, wrapping paper and cards and a couple of stocking fillers for DP.

coffeecoffeemorecoffee · 12/11/2017 07:54

Around £400, will be around £900 when finished. Then it's Dds birthday days later so another £150/200!

Likely too much, Ive bought stuff for the kids but haven't kept a record of what I've spent. Best not to really.

MissMoneyPennies · 12/11/2017 08:45

Oh no nothing yet. The kids don’t seem to want anything. I really hate the waste. I want to scale down but I don’t know how to. The sacks will come out as usual and they will expect them to be full as usual 😟.

illuminousopptomist · 12/11/2017 08:50

£0. I usually have the wardrobe filled by now but am trying to cut back this year. I am completely clear of debt and do not want to spend now I'm in the black.

JustBeingJobless · 12/11/2017 09:02

£7 so far

pangolina · 12/11/2017 09:08

£80 for OH's present. Haven't got any others yet

Oddmanout · 12/11/2017 09:11

No idea as we buy 95% of gifts in the January sales - toiletry gift sets, little gadgets etc. We've wrapped them all already (in October) and always do. I hate last minute shopping as does my DW so we sort it early then we can relax.
We're going to Bali for Xmas this year so no gifts for each other this time!

dementedma · 12/11/2017 09:15

Probably about £400 including a December birthday and have got most of it. Just ds to go and as he wants a laptop that's the biggie

Hulababy · 12/11/2017 09:32

Not much yet as it's only November.

I did get my nephew's the other day though as noticed they were going out of stock in lots of places. Though dh managed to through the box away before removing the power pack so have to reorder that!
And I've picked up some small bits for Dd and a small thing to go with my sister's gift.

So far that equals about £65

I may actually order her main gifts today as saw something we liked online yesterday and something else whilst I'm at the gym without her today too as not sure when I'll get another chance - she's normally with me at the gym.

So that will be around another £200+ I guess.

Ellybellyboo · 12/11/2017 09:38

I've hardly bought anything yet.

£30 hoodie for DD2
£105 on a festival ticket for DD1

Must get my finger out

stormnigel · 12/11/2017 09:43

About 500 quid on the DD’s, dp, parents and exh (from the DD’s), and the four friends I buy for. I reckon ive got another 200 quid to go, on sister and nieces and nephews plus whatever we spend on dd1ms Christmas birthday. That’s average for me and what I budget for throughout the year (but it still feels shocking to be spending that much all in one short period)

mumeeee · 12/11/2017 09:43

Npthing it's only early November.

Lweji · 12/11/2017 09:51

Ziltch.

Ask again the week before Christmas. I can't even be bothered to think about actual presents now.

I'll be buying for DS, niece and nephews. Will possibly get something for my mum, because she's a widow now.

Rule of thumb: 30-50 euros on niece and 3 nephews. It will vary for DS depending on what he wants. It could go from 50 to 200 euros. If a larger present (on request) then it becomes a Christmas/Birthday (Jan) main present and he gets something on the 20-30 range for his birthday.

It will obviously depend on disposable income at the time.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 12/11/2017 13:41

Have spent about 300 euro on dd and she's done.
Just did a quick add up and will be spending about 800 euro on dh, parents, grandparents, siblings, Nieces, nephews, god children, teachers and friends kids.

Am also hosting Christmas this year so another 200 on food. I love Christmas Star
