On Christmas presents. I decided to keep track this year as I went a bit mad last time.
I've spent 110 up to now, that is between 6 people and I have nearly finished buying for three of them.
I seem to be doing well up to now but I always look at the presents under the tree just before Christmas and decide it doesn't look like enough and then order loads of crap

I’ve spent £380 and my budget is £460 so November’s pay will complete the buying. I bought my first present in August (new Hot Wheels cars for my nephew on eBay - the price too good not to).

I’ve spent £40 on wrapping paper/ extra tree decs from garden store/ organza ribbon and little plastic mistletoe /holly sprigs (I’m one of those “Pinteresty” elaborate wrappers - forgive me, I have no children and I’m single and it makes me happy Grin)

I have a colour coded spreadsheet this year - I’ve gone in prepared. Last year I spent almost a grand as I didn’t bother to tot up what I was buying and on Christmas Eve went out at 3pm panic buying...

I usually spend the most on Amazon and eBay (bnwt is brilliant!). Because I live in a place with no VAT - money usually also comes off the Amazon advertised price too Grin

I love Christmas.

Mrsbird311 · 10/11/2017 17:05

We just buy each other a couple of nice presents each, I’m not a fan of stuff and try to buy people lovely quality gifts, I hate the panic buying of crap, even the kids will get only a few gifts, they get stuff all through the year so they arnt going without. I’ve bought about eight gifts so I’m up to about £300 so far , prob got about eight more to buy for family and a few token gifts. I refuse to get stressed by Christmas!!

Babababababybel23 · 10/11/2017 17:06

@mollie85
I am a Pinterest present wrapper too, I've decided to wrap all of my present like the professional bows you see in stores. Which is costing about 40 quid on ribbon Blush
But I will be rushing around collecting said ribbon on Christmas morning after all the presents have been unwrapped. Nothing wrong with reusing it again Wink

£7.20 so far (just spotted a book on amazon this morning that my DD will like)
I have a lot of family birthdays in Nov and Dec so have had to buy stuff for those first.
But it's going to be a fairly frugal Chrstmas for various reasons - quite a few people are getting home made gifts from me (whether they want them or not !)

CannotEvenThink · 10/11/2017 17:08

Don't know. Quite a lot but I'm almost done.
I put money aside every month for Christmas, birthdays and kids clothes and stuff and I'm well within budget.

ItalianWiking84 · 10/11/2017 17:08

We have spent around 110 pounds so fare. Have all advent gifts for both dds and saint Nicholas gifts for both and 1 Christmas gift for both. Need a gift for my parents, grandparents and great grandparents and a bit more for dds.

dustyparadeground · 10/11/2017 17:08

0 but have 4 birthdays before Christmas on 16th 21st 28th and 30th Nov

Mollie85 · 10/11/2017 17:09

Aaaah baba- a kindred! Grin

I’m going for a dark bottle green paper (with feint gold swirls) and gold organza with sprigs placed underneath.

Last year it was retro red and white with a small bell knotted through twine and large white, flat snowflakes... I didn’t get much love for the bells Blush

Sorry to derail Grin

Shutupanddance1 · 10/11/2017 17:10

Not too much actually - I usually buy few gifts during the year so I'd say total including Santa comes to €400? I spend €75 on joint present with siblings to do up a room in my parents house - that's been most expensive so far. Used amazon vouchers saved from doing surveys etc for DH presents so all good! Smile

x2boys · 10/11/2017 17:11

Well i have to start thinking about Xmas presents as I can't afford to buy them all at once so so far ds2 main present £80 and a second hand psp for ds1for £50 next week dh daughter will get her Xmas money and we will get ds1 main present on black Friday oh and its also ds1 birthday on boxing day .

wasonthelist · 10/11/2017 17:11

£0

GreyBird84 · 10/11/2017 17:12

£320...will be Around £600 when finished.

That’s 2DC, 2 sets parents, brother & partner & 2 aunts.

I don’t think that’s 2bad.

Bloodybridget · 10/11/2017 17:12

Under £50 I'd say, although I didn't add up the cost of DGD's stocking fillers properly. Quite a lot more to go, but thank goodness I am not in a high-spending family/friends group. Altogether I expect to spend less than £200. Or maybe £300 . . .

IHaveACuntingPlan · 10/11/2017 17:14

Nothing at all. We aim to spend up to £50 on each child (we have two dc), less if possible. We are absolutely skint and can barely afford to eat let alone buy presents. I have £15 in tesco vouchers and have asked my mum to go halves on a gift for my dd (a hornby railway set that I saw in asda).

FucksakeCuntingFuckingTwats · 10/11/2017 17:14

372

Chewbecca · 10/11/2017 17:17

£4 today on an advent calendar.

Chewbecca · 10/11/2017 17:18

In fact, like a PP I have two major birthdays before Christmas and haven't spent a penny on those yet either!

WonderLime · 10/11/2017 17:18

I've spend £125 on DP (about £50 more than I'd planned but I've bought tickets to an event that I want to go to 😌 - he will like it too 😝).

Then I've randomly spent £50 on other things. I'm not sure if I'm the only person who does this, but I'll see things for a good price and buy it without thinking who I'm going to gift it to. I now have 3 random women's sets and I'm not really sues what to do with them.

Catalufa · 10/11/2017 17:18

So far - nothing. Planning to start soon though?

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/11/2017 17:19

I do surveys on valued opinions and e-rewards via nectar, so far all Christmas presents & the food for all December will be free.

I bought Christmas cards half price in card factory last year.

I need a roll of ribbon so Christmas will be about £2 this year.

Floralnomad · 10/11/2017 17:21

On presents so far I’ve spent about £80 and that is on surprises for dd , not done anything for anybody else yet .

Tiredmum100 · 10/11/2017 17:21

Umm much already. But I have done a lot. Dc are more or less sorted. I know people are saying it's only November, but between October and Jan I also have dc X 2 birthdays, friends X 2 birthdays, family friends nieces birthday, mums birthday, sisters birthday, dad's birthday so it's always a really expensive time of year for me. Last year I panicked so much over the whole thing I decided to start early this year. I've had enough of it already! Can't think of things for people. Can I just give vouchers?

Kenworthington · 10/11/2017 17:22

Oh god. So much. About £1000. But it’s all finished now (I think)

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/11/2017 17:24

Approx £1600 but that includes presents for 7 dc, Santa grotto/meal, advent calendars ( beauty and playmobil) and the deposit for Christmas lunch at a restaurant.
Still have dh and family to buy for , plus wrapping paper, decorations , buffet food and drink.

Blahblahblueblee · 10/11/2017 17:25

£15 pounds on books for nieces and nephew.... nothing else. I have been mentally spending though!
