On Christmas presents. I decided to keep track this year as I went a bit mad last time.
I've spent 110 up to now, that is between 6 people and I have nearly finished buying for three of them.
I seem to be doing well up to now but I always look at the presents under the tree just before Christmas and decide it doesn't look like enough and then order loads of crap

£700 - I’m done. So I’ll be the one sat back enjoying December, safe in the knowledge that I’m organised and I got my presents at cheaper prices than people who leave it late.

cottonwool125 · 10/11/2017 17:27

£76, which will be all of DS’s presents. All bought in the half price Sainsbury’s sale in October.

PoppyPopcorn · 10/11/2017 17:27

WHO CARES.

IT'S NOT A FECKING COMPETITION.

Why does it matter what randomers online are spending or not spending?

mrsreynolds · 10/11/2017 17:27

Loads 😁
Almost done now

@fluffycloudland77
I love valued opinions. I made dh get it too so i do surveys on both. Most of the things I have bought have come from the amazon vouchers you can get Grin

Poppy - it’s a chat forum.

The OP is making conversation. I’ve seen no instances on this thread of stealth boasts/ competitive spending.

I don’t think it was in bad spirit or with bad intent at all Smile

Babababababybel23 · 10/11/2017 17:35

No im not boasting at all @Poppypopcorn.
Like I said most of what I have spent has come from vouchers off survey sites and i started very early as I don't have much money while I'm on maternity leave. I just wanted to know how much everyone spends as I usually never keep track and end up going a bit crazy and have no idea how much it costs.

Grin

I do that too op.

Cornettoninja · 10/11/2017 17:37

Nice try burgler! Grin

I've spent about £30000000 in my head but £0 yet. I'm in the planning stages.

midnightmisssuki · 10/11/2017 17:38

I bought everything in the Boxing Day sale and January sale last and this year. I spent about 250 but should have cost well over 700. Not buying anything else this year except maybe Christmas pajymas for the kids.

mrsreynolds · 10/11/2017 17:40

Poppy....u ok hun?

CheshireChat · 10/11/2017 17:40

Can't afford to buy everything in one go, I would've started buying even earlier, but Sep- Nov are birthday months for us.

Plus I'd to relax near Christmas as well and won't be able to do that if there's present buying that needs doing.

Just shy of £80 for a toy kitchen for DS. Will get a few accessories for it as well- toaster and the like.

And probably a garbage truck (£10) from Wilko and maybe something like a police car as his old one stopped working.

We're the only ones buying for him so it'll add up.

I'm not English so I'll have to sort out something like a stocking filler for the 6th Dec (Saint Nick), but that's fairly easy.

londonista · 10/11/2017 17:41

I buy for about 16 people in total.
So I've spent already about £150 I'd say? I'm no where near done, but I will probably spend about £500 in total on all 16 people - which includes my 2 boys who I spend about £100 each on. So £300 for the other 14 (about £30 per person for immediate fam and £10 for good mates who I want to get a little something).

I use an app called Gift Plan now to keep track, it lets you record how much you spend as well. Otherwise I find myself sitting up in my room on xmas eve with a pile of stuff I had no idea I'd bought wondering why and how I'd managed to buy quite so much.
I find the wrapping and tagging a really tedious chore. It's always me, alone, at 1am on Christmas eve, stuffing the last bits in stockings.

Justgivemesomepeace · 10/11/2017 17:42

About £200. Toys for ds were £162, then some stocking fillers for dd and gloves for the child minder.

Turnocks34 · 10/11/2017 17:43

Nothing yet. I have planned presents, which should cost around £500. On top of gifts, we do a santa train ride every year which will be £100, plus then a meal out on Christmas Eve, which will be about £100 too (I hate cooking and it is a gift to myself).

Babababababybel23 · 10/11/2017 17:44

@londonista
I will happily come and wrap for you. I'm a bit of a nutter and wrap as I go. Agree with the hate for tagging though, writing the same thing about 100 times Grin it gets on my nerves and the handwriting gets worse and worse

I am fucked off with the endless christmas threads on AIBU, which aren't even an AIBU subject.

There is a dedicated Christmas forum where you can all discuss what you're spending or not spending, your parcel wrapping and ribbon buying, well away from the rest of us who either couldn't give a flying fuck, or who actively dislike the competitive greedfest which is Christmas.

Babababababybel23 · 10/11/2017 17:57

There is a dedicated forum for everything but people still use aibu for things. Relationships, education, parenting, legal matters. Clearly I am being unreasonable for being nosy about people's spending Confused

I use AIBU for just about everything 😂 IAVU

Llamacorn · 10/11/2017 18:05

Erm, a ridiculous amount and loads still to go!
I tally up how much I've spent on each recipient to keep track, but I never count advent calendars/advent gifts/days out/Santa visits/decorations/pjs etc as I think I would scare myself too much!
I do spread the cost from about summer time, and this year specifically we have some big events & birthdays coming up which are pushing up the costs more than usual.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 10/11/2017 18:05

£4.50. Bought a mug for my sister 😂

CheshireChat · 10/11/2017 18:11

Hey, thanks for reminding about the Christmas section Wink.

I don't find it too surprising that on a predominantly British forum, Christmas is a big thing really.

HoobleDooble · 10/11/2017 18:16

About £350-£375 so far, but that’s for DS (Christmas and December birthday, we just buy stuff then split it into 2 piles), DH, my DM and the cat. Just got my DDad, my DSis’s family and a secret Santa to do after payday and I’m done. DH will do his shopping in December.

NameChanger22 · 10/11/2017 18:19

I've only bought a few stocking fillers, I've probably spent less than £40.

I'm cutting down on Christmas this year and only buying DD one big present and a few stocking fillers. I'm not buying much for other people either.
