It is in the Daily Mail,so presumably can be said without all the usual hints on threads about Corey Haim.

OP posts:
MayFayner · 09/11/2017 10:46

I'm not sure if that's the case in all jurisdictions ptumbi

I know in ireland a man can be raped.

Not sure about US.

CoughLaughFart · 09/11/2017 10:46

Why are so many giving the OP a hard time?

In what way is she getting a ‘hard time’? If the OP wants a discussion, she has to accept that some people will think it’s inappropriate and will say so.

noeffingidea · 09/11/2017 10:46

ptumbi of course men can be raped anally. Rape refers to unconsensual penetration of any orifice
I think the confusion arises because there is no charge of 'statutory rape' in the UK. There is no allegation that this incident was non consensual in the sense of being forced, other than the fact that he was under the age of consent.
Not to mention the Mail probably just likes to use the word sodomy to be edgy or something.

"Rape in the United States is defined by the Department of Justice as "Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim."

BertrandRussell · 09/11/2017 10:50

""Rape in the United States is defined by the Department of Justice as "Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim."

And in the U.K. It covers penetration with a penis only. Penetration with anything else is sexual assault.

sinceyouask · 09/11/2017 10:51

Stautory rape does exist in the UK although I am not sure the phrase is widely used- but it's the rape of a child under the age of 13. wiki link

Chrys2017 · 09/11/2017 10:51

@BertrandRussel Which fairy tale book did you get that definition from?

unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person, with or without force, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the victim.

In the UK a man could also be guilty of rape if he ‘tricks’ a women into bed; if he agrees to use a condom but then removes it or damages it; or, if he agrees to withdraw from her but refuses to at the end.

BertrandRussell · 09/11/2017 10:53

"BertrandRussel Which fairy tale book did you get that definition from?"

In UK law, rape is unwanted penetration by a penis.

Chrys2017 · 09/11/2017 10:53

@BertrandRussel Apologies. I was mistakenly using the US definition. The bit about condoms still stands though as that came from an English barrister in the Telegraph.

noeffingidea · 09/11/2017 11:00

sinceyouask agreed, but this specific (alleged) incident would not be charged as statutory rape in the UK.

WanderingTrolley1 · 09/11/2017 11:00

Corey Haim :(

liz70 · 09/11/2017 11:16

Quoting UK law is completely irrelevant in this case.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/11/2017 11:30

Rape is unwanted penetration by a penis.

This - of man or woman or child, and whichever body orifice is abused.

Scaredycat3000 · 09/11/2017 11:33

Why is it inappropriate to talk about this? Because it's horrible? Because you don't like it? I don't think all the kids getting raped like the situation ether. We need to talk about this, trying to shut these conversations down because you can't cope with reality doesn't make it go away other than in your head. MN discussions are very limited. Go to other forums, read first hand accounts from victims, read around the subject. Think about the over reaction to Kevin Spacey, it's because they know what we're hearing in the MSM is nothing compared to what else he was doing. Trying to shut conversations down prevents justice. If the authorities had done their jobs properly at the time we could discuss trials and convictions rather than allegations, the authorities fucked up and the victims are paying the price. We must talk about that.

Corey Haim was raped first by a big wig age 11. The Coreys were known to be passed around. Doesn't that mean they were regularly abused? The next significant abuser raped Corey Haim age 13. Charlie Sheen is denying that it was him.

"Corey Haim is dead apparently as a result of much of the mental trauma inflicted upon him
I don't think this part is true. He died of pneumonia and had some sort of genetic defect that affected his heart."

How appropriate your username is. Hmm

QuimReaper · 09/11/2017 11:38

There are always people who make a big performance of "disapproving" of these kinds of threads. It's bizarre. It's like they just landed on the internet this morning and think a chat forum is the equivalent of PMQs.

QuimReaper · 09/11/2017 11:39

Is any of this CH information confirmed? Such as the details in your last paragraph Scaredy?

QuackPorridgeBacon · 09/11/2017 11:45

Poor Corey Sad I’ve read about what happened to him from interviews with the other Corey. It breaks my heart and I just don’t understand how it can be allowed to happen. If I was in the position to know about something like this, I wouldn’t give a flying fuck if my whole career was sacrificed or even my life if I was to get dramatic, I would certainly tell somebody. I wish someone knew about what was happening to me and I suspect someone did. I wish they told or confronted the person to spare me years of abuse.

liz70 · 09/11/2017 11:50

"Is any of this CH information confirmed? "

Well, Feldman has made these claims several times. It depends if people believe him, just the same as whether or not people believe an alleged rape victim where there is no longer any physical evidence. It's one person's word against another's. Of course the alleged perpetrators - if still alive- in Feldman's claims aren't going to admit to anything. Have to say it doesn't look good for Mr. Estevez. He is one messed up individual, that's for sure.

Oblomov17 · 09/11/2017 12:02

This is todays article? Daily Mail? Today?
Is anything going to come of this? A conviction? I fear not. Sad

Scaredycat3000 · 09/11/2017 12:16

I know you only asked about Charlie Sheen but I'll cover the passed around bit. I'll only supply one link, if you want more try google, there are thousands of links.

The most relevant quote
"Ask anybody in our group of kids at that time: They were passing us back and forth to each other. [Alison Arngrim] from 'Little House on the Prairie' said [in an interview], 'Everybody knew that the two Coreys were just being passed around.'

CoughLaughFart · 09/11/2017 12:18

Why is it inappropriate to talk about this? Because it's horrible? Because you don't like it?

No - because the alleged victim is dead. If this happened it was his story to tell. He didn’t.
