What's the US equivalent of a DBS check? In any case, CRB, DBS etc- all they are good for is showing whether someone had, at the time of the check being made, ever actually been caught. Not to say we shouldn't have them, we should, but they do seem to lull people into a false sense of security.

They might still be able to prosecute. There have been successful prosecutions of rapists both in the U.K. and the US, specifically California, in which the victim has been deceased (Cheri Linden in the U.K.).

If Haim left behind accounts of the rape (which I think it's been suggested he did) prospects for a successful prosecution will be quite high).

This is exactly the problem. It’s all he said, she said - and all third parties. Only two people know what happened and one is dead.

I don't think this part is true. He died of pneumonia and had some sort of genetic defect that affected his heart.
While I believe this allegation is probably true it is not the whole story. There was/is a paedophile ring operating and this information has been released at this specific moment to deflect attention away from it.
