They’ll likely live with Gorsuch.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/11/2017 14:38

Yes, I think that's the most likely outcome. Clapper and Comey are on CNN (appropriately, although easier to dismiss by MAGAsses though they won't be swayed by anything) rebutting Trump's claims about Russian interference.

James Clapper tells @jaketapper that he did not know about the Papadopoulos meetings when he said in January that he had seen no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

cozietoesie · 12/11/2017 14:46

Next week should be interesting for the economy. This CNN Money piece deals with generalities as well as GE. (The sidebar pieces - other than the ‘Paid Content’ - are also worth a read.)

GE dividend

lionheart · 12/11/2017 15:36

I'll try the Pollyanna approach for now, Across.

Lweji · 12/11/2017 16:12

But Gorsuch was a nomination, approved by Congress, not really an appointment that depends on who's President at the time.
I don't think he'll be removed.

lionheart · 12/11/2017 16:18

Not Gorsuch, no.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/11/2017 16:32

It depends on the President in as much as they have to nominate the judge. If it was found that the elections were compromised and ballots interfered with and vote totals altered, and that HRC should have actually won, he might not be a legitimate President and therefore Gorsuch an improper nomination. I know this is extremely unlikely to take place though - the finding him illegitimate and the undoing of his nomination - because where would the line be drawn? I don't suppose if it ever got to that stage, they could just declare all of Trump's actions as invalid as it would be total chaos even more so than now

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/11/2017 16:34

It pains me to inflict KAC upon you but you might find interesting that this is the approach they're taking

Conway on ABC, when asked about Russian interference in the 2016 election: “The president is not the chairman of the board of elections in this country. … He wants to deal with President Putin … on major issues.”

Natasha Bertrand‏
@NatashaBertrand

Implication here seems to be that Russia’s election interference is not a national security issue or even worthy of Trump’s time.

New Alabama poll: Doug Jones 46%, Roy Moore 42%. First poll to show Jones in the lead. winwithjmc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Alabama-Senate-Executive-Summary-General-Election-Poll-2.pdf

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/11/2017 16:37

Three Alabama polls since the Moore news:

Jones 46, Moore 42
Moore 48, Jones 46
Moore 46, Jones 46

It is very possible that the vocally-sticking-with-Moore Republicans talking to us reporters and dominating coverage don't reflect the big picture.

People sometimes give intentionally stupid answers to pollsters, but 29% said they were more likely to support Moore over the allegation of child sexual abuse. 38% less likely, 33% "no difference."

cozietoesie · 12/11/2017 16:44

Much will depend on who is in the race and what the WH says, I think. A lot of water to go under this bridge.

badbadhusky · 12/11/2017 16:53

Forgive my utter ignorance, but when is polling day?

cozietoesie · 12/11/2017 16:59

December 12 if it goes ahead.

badbadhusky · 12/11/2017 17:02

Tsk. Plenty of time for the GOP to find a new white right wing sexist, fundamentalist Christian to run in Moore’s place.

cozietoesie · 12/11/2017 17:21

I don’t think that they can (legally) take Moore’s name off the ballot now. (That’s why they’re trying other ..............machinations.)

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/11/2017 17:23

They can't change the ballot - the rules stipulate that it has to be done 72 days before the vote.

Roussette · 12/11/2017 17:30

This is funny in a totally horrendous way

Trump Server Thread 3

We Now believe this is a Really Big Story.

Time To Go Deeper.

Thread

Multiple MSM reports discounted the over 250 Trump Corporation Sub Domains Directed to Russia were the Result of a Hack.

The Hack Referred to Is Called Shadowgate.

Here's an ABC News piece saying essentially the same thing - that the Trump subdomains match the pattern of so-called “Shadowgate"

abcnews.go.com/amp/Technology/wireStory/ap-finds-hackers-hijacked-195-trump-web-addresses-50931253

Here is a description of Shadowgate:

blog.talosintelligence.com/2016/09/shadowgate-takedown.html

Here's where they got their stories wrong.

The GoDaddy Shadow Domain exploits occurred in 2011 and 2014, not in 2013. Spokesman from GoDaddy says the same, in the ABC News piece.

Talos asserted in 2016 that GoDaddy had removed all affected subdomains.

Then How Are we Seeing Them up Until Last Week?

The Trump subdomains that existed in 2013 were exactly the same as the ones that were still present last week. This does not match the shadow domain pattern of rapidly changing subdomains.

None of the Trump top-level domains appear to have have hosted malware during this time period. If hackers had gotten into the Trump GoDaddy account, why didn't they install malware on the high-traffic websites themselves?

And a Giant WTF To GoDaddy!!

GoDaddy asserts that it has measures in place to monitor for malicious activity

GoDaddy would not let us create a subdomain pointing to the IP address that subdomains of 721fifth.com were pointed to up until last week.

Why didn't GoDaddy check all of their A records and delete any subdomains pointing to these malicious IP addresses?

Why Did GoDaddy Allow These SubDomains To Exist Only For The Trump Organization? They Cleared Them Out OF All Other Accounts and Wouldn’t Allow Them To Be Manually Added?

And Oh By The Way Robert Parsons Founder and Now Board Member of GoDaddy Donated One Million Dollars To The Trump Inauguration!!

Finally, if it's not Shadowgate, what could it be?

What about Peter Levashov, arrested in Barcelona for running a botnet? And possibly for election meddling.

But Congress could have rejected Gorsuch, as they rejected Obama's nominee. So, I don't think they'd revert that decision. Unless it was shown that Congress was compromised as well.
