I’m having the shittest evening

Just had a 20-hour plane journey for work. Really jet lagged. 15 minutes ago my hotel was evacuated with a fire alarm. I put my coat over my pyjamas and got out. Once outside, I thought I may as well have dinner (was too tired to get out until now). While I’m waiting for my food, a mouse runs under the table next to mine.

Anyone else having a crap night?

Erghhh was just about to comment how lovely for once someone started a thread about a shitty day everyone replied with their shitty day and we all complained about shitty days together without someone coming saying we sounded rude, bragging or unreasonable or could be worse children are starving in Africa you know.

And then I got to page two. Fml 🙄🙄🙄🙄

WishfulThanking · 06/11/2017 22:48

Tippz, how shit is your life that you thought that was a boast?! Shock

Pyjamaface · 06/11/2017 22:54

Mine has been spent sewing on cubs badges, shouting at cubs badges, throwing cubs badges, swearing cos I had to go look for the sodding badges again and then crying about the fact I'm shit at sewing.

I did 3 and they are all wonky so I'm gonna stomp them over to my mothers tomorrow and beg her to do them properly.

I've thrown my back out so I'm in agony and my period started.

Shitty shitty shit evening but at least I haven't seen a mouse Grin

Jumperoux · 06/11/2017 22:55

My baby hasn't stopped screaming for 2 hours. Except for brief 90 second periods where she BFs until she bites me and I scream and then we both cry. It's amazing.

Comeymemo · 06/11/2017 23:02

I’m in Edinburgh. I live in Asia.

Tippz, if you think eating mediocre food in your pyjamas in a rodent-infested restaurant is a stealth boast, I can only assume that you’re a hobo. That must be tough. And forgive me for not answering posts while I had no WiFi and made my way back to the hotel. FFS.

Everyone else : thank you. I know there are worse things. I’m sending good wishes to those of you in trouble/worry.

Doodle, thanks for making me smile.

Scelestus, I really want to know how a leak features in a horrible story...

DancingOnParsnips · 06/11/2017 23:05

Tippz has never travelled with work.

OP, if the mouse put you off your food, Tippz has a massive chip in her shoulder you can reheat.

DancingOnParsnips · 06/11/2017 23:06

On her shoulder *

littleteethies · 06/11/2017 23:09

Gabs don't be worried, I loved it
Quirky little cafes and bars with gorgeous chocolate, beautiful squares, nice people, v decent prices, clean and safe

MadForlt · 06/11/2017 23:09

Comey, we all know you now there are worse things. But it's ok to say things are a bit more shit than usual. This is not a competitive shit-fest. This is a lets all wallow in our shit-fests together thread. Imo at least!

Hope we all have a better day tomorrow. Well, other than the people that clearly never have shitty days.

baffledcoconut · 06/11/2017 23:09

I spent two hours untangling fairy lights from a complete tangle of several balls of wool. It still isn’t done and I’m essentially trapped on the sofa.

The desire to take scissors to the lights is strong.

Pandoraphile · 06/11/2017 23:11

My pet rabbits became ill yesterday. Despite immediate veterinary attention, one sadly passed away this morning. The other is touch and go. Dd is devastated Sad

We spent the evening trying to find a box big enough to bury the first rabbit in. Pets are great, but it's properly shit when they die Sad

I was once at the very end of a long day with a colleague where everything had gone wrong. We'd travelled a long distance from one UK city to another - everything I tell you went wrong. From the train being delayed, cancelled, missing a first apt totally, tights laddered, and so on.

We got back to our city of origin exhausted, very late and miserable so we decided to go for a quick drink before closing time as a "we made it home end of the day drown our sorrows." As we were walking into the bar (which had two massive plate glass doors) she turned back to me and said "at least we are home now, nothing else can go wrong".

In some sort of bad karma miracle of timing which I still don't quite understand, she proceeded into the bar walked smack bang into the plate glass door which resulted in a huge nose bleed. She was lucky she didn't break her nose.

So OP could be worse. At at least you are in Edinburgh which is civilisation. I thought you were going to say you were in the USA and was going to say - never mind the mouse, you'll see a cockroach in minute.

With any luck you'll be serranaded to sleep by a drunk stag party learning to play the bagpipes right outside your hotel window.

NextIndia · 06/11/2017 23:14

My Nana rang crying to tell me that she wants to kill herself because she’s so lonely. Then my DH came home and told me that he’s being made redundant. I’m a SAHP and we have 5 DC. I’m scared.

Sorry for everyone else’s shit days. Flowers

littleteethies · 06/11/2017 23:15

Pandora i am sorry
Wine to you and Cake to DD

KingMortificadosMistress · 06/11/2017 23:15

Sorry my tale does not relate to tonight OP.! This was several years ago - I think now it is actually illegal to have plate glass doors without some etching or something on them to show where they are.
To avoid this kind of thing.

We did laugh about it afterwards though - about how she'd been saying nothing else could go wrong.

KingMortificadosMistress · 06/11/2017 23:17

Oh NextIndia that's so moving. I'm so sorry. I hope your Nana feels better - at least she has you to call and hope your DH finds this the beginning of a new chapter that is better for him.

MadForlt · 06/11/2017 23:18

Oh NextIndia, I have no words but Cake

MadForlt · 06/11/2017 23:19

Flowers is what I meant to click, but do have the cake too!

Catinthecorner · 06/11/2017 23:24

I have been trying to conceive for years.

I’m on fertility drugs that make me spotty, bloated and depressed.

My period just arrived.

My baby sister is due to give birth this month, having got pregnant first try. She is not speaking to me because I didn’t get involved enough in her pregnancy.

wobblywonderwoman · 06/11/2017 23:28
