AIBU?

To not get Boden?

Just had the Mini Boden magazine posted through the door. It literally (to me anyway) looks like Next & H&Ms stuff but with a much higher price tag with the names of the little darlings modelling their clothes (that’s even if it is their real names. How do you pronounce Anouk?!)
They’re a couple of mums I know that swear by the stuff and constantly dress their little ones in it. I really don’t see the fuss or hype to be perfectly honest.
I’m not too sure how they’ve managed to get my home address, I’ve never shopped there and regularly get brochures from them.

That was a level of twattishness so unique and contrived I have to admit I'm somewhat impressed

Seconded.

I've bought some second hand Boden on Ebay before. The quality is average. The designs are average, boring and safe. I prefer H&M.

For those that do like Boden and don’t mind second hand it is ‘market night’ on Mini-Boden preloved on Facebook tonight. Bargains to be had!

I like Boden. To be fair, I am probably their target market - middle class, not particularly flamboyant. I spend most days in a striped Breton top with straight leg jeans and hoop earrings, which I understand is practically a uniform.

I love Boden and I’m very happy that they have opened a new store in London and John Lewis on Oxford Street is stocking items also!

It's Anook.

12 years ago when my dd was a baby, you had to search to get clothe that weren't a really nasty pink. Boden was doing reds and other brights. I noticed a few years later that the Sainsbury's kids clothes designer has swallowed the boden designer. Clear bright patterns, and bold colours.
I think if you have 3 kids of the same sex it would be worth buying it, or getting bits second hand.
It's all gone a bit more "woodlands"now I notice .

I am not offended by Boden.
My DS2 has sensory issues and we struggle with comfy clothing for him (or rather clothing he finds to be comfortable) and Boden does some super soft tops and adventure shorts that he will wear. I have to wait for vouchers and sales.
We also have some success with GAP and H&M clothing.
I've found the Boden clothing to wash and wear well.

I haven't bought anything from Boden for myself for about 5 yrs now but I still have lots of clothes I wear for work that are from Boden . So what might have been an expensive top is still going at least 5 years later. One top is really 'vintage' now.

Agree the kids clothes are good quality. My DS now 10 is on his 4th camo fleece with the teddy fur inside. He has worn them solidly since his first at 2.

I think the women's clothes are pricey and a bit dated now. Got my DH a couple of plain linen shirts years ago and they still get rolled out every summer.

There is sonething to be said for paying more. In my experience expensive clothing just lasts longer (we have two children so need it to last a minimum of two flung and tumble cycles). I don't know about Boden. I've tried Argos, Tesco, M&S, next, mothercare and H&M with all of the clothes not making it long enough for my eldest to out grow. John Lewis stuff always lasts long enough for both to outgrow but unfortunately as DS1 has gotten older the cuts don't fit his body so looking for an alternative. Gap mostly lasts, generally try to buy all the trousers from Gap. Recently tried a few bits from Joules and so far so go so that may be the way going forward but the branding is so obvious that I feel a bit embarrassed buying everything in Joules. Might try boden.

I find Boden a bit twee and dated. Too many floral frocks for girls and sludge colour striped tops with aeroplanes for boys. But the quality is good.

Try the Scandi brands if you want colour and quality and unique designs! Molo, Fixoni, Lindex, Smafolk, PopUpShop, JNY, Maxomorra, Duns, Polarn o Pyret, Mini Rodini etc. Lots of unisex stuff, funky prints and bright colour.
And lots of velour too, I love dressing toddler DD in snuggly velour!

I don't like Next, Tu, Asda, boots etc as it loses its shape after a few washes and the knees wear through!

Boden women is a bit too frumpy for me but love the children’s range. DD1 had a snow jacket bought for about £35 with the discount code that she wore for 3 winters, then passed down to DD2 and will probably wear for another 2-3 winters. It still looks brand new.

Also love their pointelle tops for girls, subtle sparkles and pastel stripes, absolutely perfect and feels so soft. Lasts years between two children too.

I’ve also tried cheapy stuff from H&M and next, they tend to go in the bin or charity shops after one season. Either because the design grow tired really quickly or they start to have holes in them
