AIBU?

To not get Boden?

Just had the Mini Boden magazine posted through the door. It literally (to me anyway) looks like Next & H&Ms stuff but with a much higher price tag with the names of the little darlings modelling their clothes (that’s even if it is their real names. How do you pronounce Anouk?!)
They’re a couple of mums I know that swear by the stuff and constantly dress their little ones in it. I really don’t see the fuss or hype to be perfectly honest.
I’m not too sure how they’ve managed to get my home address, I’ve never shopped there and regularly get brochures from them.

You don't have to buy it I don't get Primark but plenty of people like it. I only buy their Richmond black cotton trousers which fit well.

ColinCreevy mothercare are a good middle ground, the clothes are good quality and they have the 3 for £15 deals etc.

No I live in Cheshire- surrounded by Dylan’s, Sebastian’s and Maisie’s. I’ve never heard of the name Anouk, I was asking how you pronounce it.

Another Boden lover here! Get loads of discount vouchers with them and I adore their boys clothes! I don’t like superdry, topshop and loads of other retailers so I take the easy route by just not buying! I sell it to the Facebook Boden page when he’s outgrown it.

Mama- I do like Mothercare stuff, some of the Little Bird range is quite cute but I’d be hard pushed getting Mr ST to agree to buy any of it unfortunately.

I'm not into the adult stuff, but I always buy kids clothes in the sale because the fabric lasts really well and they always sell on eBay a year or two later. What with the sale price and the resale I spend hardly anything on kids clothes, and I've always found them a better quality and longer-lasting than any other places. I try to do the same with Joules, Fatface etc. Joules is best for resale, but they have fewer sales discounts than Boden.

Get over yourself and your minimally disguised xenophobia

That's a bit harsh, I have never heard of that name until this thread and if I asked how to pronounce it, it wouldn't be because of xenophobia, it'd be because I didn't know Confused

MrsST I agree with you that the children’s clothes are very expensive, I have a number of Boden dresses in my own wardrobe but have never bought for the kids.

However their quality is good. I have a friend with 4 DDs who buys all her girls’ clothes from Boden because they last well. After her youngest os done with them she passes a few things on to me, once I’ve finished with them I pass them on to another friend.

One particular dress has now been through 6 little girls and still looks wonderful.

It’s not worth me paying for that kind of quality as I have one DS and one DD but I can totally see why it might be worth it for those who are handing clothes down.

Exactly there’s a few people who need to step away from their phones/ keyboards today and would be better serving themselves with a bit of yoga or meditation. I don’t live in France or Denmark so therefore have never heard of it. Maybe I should go and enlighten myself with popular names in those countries to not appear xenophobic.

Ben, definitely get your moneys worth out of them then! I’ve had a few frugi pieces bought for my daughter and they’ve sold quite well too. It is each to their own. I wasn’t trying to be snobby I was trying to understand why people would spend over the odds for a jumper. Now I understand with all the sensible replies of being able to resell them or that they’re good quality etc.

Oh come on OP you were being sneery about the name, you know you were. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

YANBU.

Yes it wears well, but tbh so does Next, Tu, H&M IME. It's overpriced.

The women's stuff is usually Frumpsville Arizona. Trousers are ok.

Or maybe you shouldn't imply a kid's name is made-up or assumed, for no other reason than you don't much like the catalogue they're in. And when you ask how to pronounce it, fight the urge to use an exclamation mark like it's the most confusingly hilarous thing ever. Is that ok?!

I actually call my kids little darlings. To be honest the kids are cute. I’m not here to pick on children. So no I wasn’t being sneery in that context either. Maybe people need to not pick over a post so much?

I hear you OP. I'm not sure about the children's range but Boden's adult clothes look so mumsy and frumpy that they look really silly on the young models. Why would you hide a lovely figure under those potato sack looking clothes?

I don't get it either. Spent £25 for ds Boden trousers and they had holes in by a week. Not heavy wear. Next and HM are just as good quality.

I wasn’t implying names where made up ffs. I just don’t believe that those children are called those particular names, probably best not to for data reasons don’t you think?

This. You weren't curious about how to pronounce the name. You were sneering about it. Don't backtrack.
