To not get Boden?

Just had the Mini Boden magazine posted through the door. It literally (to me anyway) looks like Next & H&Ms stuff but with a much higher price tag with the names of the little darlings modelling their clothes (that’s even if it is their real names. How do you pronounce Anouk?!)
They’re a couple of mums I know that swear by the stuff and constantly dress their little ones in it. I really don’t see the fuss or hype to be perfectly honest.
I’m not too sure how they’ve managed to get my home address, I’ve never shopped there and regularly get brochures from them.

I buy my Mini Boden second hand on eBay.

paxillin · 06/11/2017 14:18

I find their bodenesque colours and patterns look much better on a small canvas than a big one.

Mustard yellow corduroy dungarees with duckling print shirts suit toddlers better than women.

At the moment you can get a lot of their applique dresses from wish for £5. The delivery time is a bit longer because it comes from CHina but otherwise it's the same product.

The OP can sneer at a name if she wants to, have you seen the baby name threads on this website? Almost all replies are sneering!

BenLui · 06/11/2017 14:20

Maybe people need to not pick over a post so much?

We’re just reading what you wrote OP.

Babyroobs · 06/11/2017 14:23

the clothes are generally good quality. I always used to buy Boden off Ebay for my kids and have passed it on to friends and family. I always bought in the sales too and they frequently still send me gift vouchers and I get all my leggings from there.

MrsST · 06/11/2017 14:25

Margarita
I've sent you the voucher code btw, let me know you've got it

Boden clothes usually last well and are much more brightly coloured and cheerful than the khaki/brown/dark blue which most boys’ clothes seem to be at Next/M&S etc.

I don’t buy much as they are expensive but get stuff in the sale sometimes and my mum likes to get things from there for her GC. She definitely sees them as the equivalent of ‘good solid clothes’ which would have been M&S in my childhood.

Tsundoku · 06/11/2017 14:27

I think the catalogue probably does use real names (first names only, obviously). I have one here are there's a fair old mix: Martha, Aimee, Kayla, Elizabeth, Sophie, Tia, Allegra, Rihanna.

How is that the lesson you take from there being a lot of sneering at names on here?

WiggleYourWoo · 06/11/2017 14:31

Boden does the cutest baby and children clothes, and quality is great. I love Boden!

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/11/2017 14:32

I like Boden for the simple/plain/unpatterned tops and dresses that they do. So nice to be able to get a cotton top in one colour, in varying styles.

It is a bit expensive but there are ample discount events and codes and emails so you just have to time it right. There’s hardly ever any need to buy full price.

If you do like it but are savvy, there are lots of seconds and unsold stock suppliers on eBay.

5foot5 · 06/11/2017 14:33

When my DD was small I bought her a few mini-Boden things because I liked the look of them.

However, I was put off by how terribly un-colour-fast they were. I found they would colour-run even after they had been washed many times so I always had to wash them separately. Never seemed to have that problem so much with other manufacturers.

margaritasbythesea · 06/11/2017 14:35

Many thanks Mrs ST. Got it!

PolkaDottyRose · 06/11/2017 14:37

My few bits of Boden come from the charity shop (£2 for a brand new looking top, anyone?). Not sure what that says about me Grin

Hillarious · 06/11/2017 14:37

Spent £25 for ds Boden trousers and they had holes in by a week. - AeroflotGirl - I think Boden would give you a refund in this case. They would certain want to know if there was a problem with the trousers. When my DS were younger, one pair of Boden trousers would do them both and still be in a good enough state to be passed on.

Nancy91 · 06/11/2017 14:37

People love an argument on here Grin

Nazdarovye · 06/11/2017 14:39

This must be the 639th thread about effing Boden...

Katedotness1963 · 06/11/2017 14:40

Oh god! Not another "AIBU to not get"...

NameChangeFamousFolk · 06/11/2017 14:41

I like the quality of the kids clothes. Cheaper leggings last five minutes on my DC, but Boden are much sturdier and look better for longer.

Everything we've bought from there has been really well-loved and lasted, so I think Boden tends to be worth buying.

PandorasXbox · 06/11/2017 14:41

The quality is nothing like Next or H and M, which imo is no better than Primark.

I used to buy stuff for the dc when they were younger and everything lasted years and was passed down.

Not keen on the adult stuff though.

Pagwatch · 06/11/2017 14:41

Boden kids clothes are pretty good quality.
Next kids clothes used to be quite good but are really patchy now. Next adult clothes are pretty shite quality too.

I never understand why people don't 'get' a brand. It's odd really. If we all liked the same stuff then the High Street would be even more boring than it is now.

Pagwatch · 06/11/2017 14:43

Boden threads used to be good too

These days Boden threads are lacklustre.

Oly5 · 06/11/2017 14:45

The quality of the children’s clothes is brilliant.. can always be handed down to a sibling. That’s why I buy their clothes. I find H&M total tat

EssentialHummus · 06/11/2017 14:46

I’m another one who now gets their catalog through the post, having never signed up. How do they do this??
