cos i am one and love my DDIL to bits. I'm also a DIL and although we dont see my IL's very often (live 500 miles away) we get on great to, especially as she is only 10 years older than me! I married her son who is 10 years younger than me, I was already a Grandmother so made DH a grandfather at 27, and her a GGrandmother at 47, and could never her give DH his own child so she has no grandchildren from us, and she never whinged once!

I love mine! My Ma died when I was pg , and I am just so glad I still have my mil. Would be better to have both, of course and there is no day I don't miss my Ma, but mil is almost as lovely as my Ma was!

I only met my mil a few times before she became ill with a brain tumour and lung cancer. She was a very lively lady before she became ill but still stayed positive through her ilness. She never got to see her gchildren but im sure fil would have a closer relationship with them if she was still around.
My dh gets on really really well with my parents, better than he does with his own father.
I think this is quite rare considering some of the threads from people complaining about their inlaws!
