AIBU?

To wonder why my teen is stealing sugar?

One of my kids (both teens) is stealing the sugar. I don't know which one.

I noticed a brand new bag of sugar had vanished last week, I assumed it had been spilled by one of the kids who had failed to mention it. Actually that didn't really make sense at the time because neither of them is capable of cleaning a bag of sugar so well. Either way I forgot all about it.

Now a second bag has disappeared.

It's not me, its not DH. Nobody else has had access.

What the fuckity fuck is going on?

Amazing thread Grin

Jam or ketamine genuinely made me short (so not meant to be a drug snort pun😂)

Has he been an avid watcher of bake off? That Noel Fielding is a gateway into baking for adolescents.

Place marking as DS2 (8) is in training for the full sugar bag - he only takes spoonfuls at the moment, so I'm intrigued to know what the next stage to watch for is.

People waiting to find out I have to warn you that it is perfectly possible we wont get an answer.

Noooo haha don't say that! I simply MUST know what he's done with two pounds of sugar in a week!

My money is on some sort of weird boy fad at school- turning sugar into little explosives or something. When I was at school all the boys were juggling lit firefighters at lunchtime, and setting fire to their feet with aerosols and zippo lighters....

I have a baby boy. Now that I've just remembered what boys were like at school I feel a bit dizzy.

What subjects is he studying? We need to think laterally.

Plates in drawers/everything in drawers/wardrobe is my teens preferred method of "cleaning his room".

It's a disgrace. I'm trying to sort it - and I truly will apologise to the poor woman who ends up marrying him. Still he's pretty good in every other way so

I'm also like a broken record on the "put on deodorant" and "clean your teeth" too - hopefully that will have sunk in before they leave home Hmm

I am shamelessly placemarking! I need to know if it's jam or ket.

If he was cutting crystal meth he should be able to afford to buy his own sugar

Using it as a weight for body toning?

Plates in drawers here too.

Last week I opened a cupboard in his room! Dirty plates, mugs, cutlery, food wrappers and the congealed remains of at least two fish suppers! Envy not envy!

I’m pretty sure my brother would still put plates in drawers now if his wife didn’t clean up after him HmmGrin

Is he doing aerobics videos on YouTube? They often recommend bags of sugar instead of weights.

Has he developed a sudden interest in lycra and neon legwarmers?

Toffee apples. Is he going to a bonfire party?

Does anyone remember that snazzy multi-coloured sugar where all the granules were different rainbow colours?

He would be justified in stealing that.

A lot of teenage boys I knew used to make bombs. Fifteen years on I'm shagging one of them and he's not a criminal now. Probably not Crystal meth

Disappointing update.

Oldest came in. Denied all knowledge of all sugar related activity. I am utterly convinced he is lying.

Kept asking what he could possibly steal sugar for while laughing. I started reeling off all the reasons given on here to his great amusement.

I assured him I wouldn't care but just really wanted to know cos it was bugging me.

While I now completely believe it was him I don't think it was nefarious. It's also possible this thread has made me paranoid, I am considering bringing the youngest in for questioning again.

Sugar cam?
