AIBU?

To demand a parents evening meeting when I next have to pick my son up?

OnlyParentsAreReal · 31/10/2017 19:37

I was informed today at pick up that it's parents evening tomorrow (first time I'm hearing of this) and my time slot is 7.15pm! I immediately said that wasn't possible as that is past my son's bed time to which they replied "oh well". There are a few things I've been meaning to bring up with them anyway and my son isn't in tomorrow. Would I be unreasonable to demand a parent's evening meeting next time Im there for pick up?

No offense to the teacher but she shouldn't really bite the hand that feeds her

Wow. Most illogical post I’ve ever read. How exactly do you think the teacher is being fed by the OP @GoddessOfWisdom?

(And yes, I do understand it’s a metaphor!)

Yep yep yep we all demand our update.
OP, you should know, that you cannot decline, since demand won't accept 'no' for an answer. Otherwise you prove yourself as a hypocrite, since you said their was no negativity in demanding!

But we are demanding an update, you know where you're only asking but won't accept no as an answer Grin

Have a Google search for 3 person babies. In basic terms they take away part of one egg and replace that part from another person's egg. It's a real step forward in combating hereditary diseases. And the surrogate or birth mother would be number 3

Well yes but what does that have to do with you getting a different appointment.

Oh, and the op’s dc is in a fee paying nursery, so she is paying for the service.

So parents who pay taxes can demand any meeting they like but not parents who don’t pay taxes? Children whose parents who are on benefits, for example. What rubbish! All pupils and their families should be treated equally.

Directed hours are in the teacher’s contract. No where there does it say they have to make time available whenever a parent demands they do so. Time beyond their directed time is their own time. Most teachers use a fair bit of their own time on meeting parents and doing extra work. That doesn’t mean they are obliged to.

I’ve just googled three person babies and the reports say the first babies might be born late in 2027 in the UK,

Not 2027, 2017, nonetheless. It suggests that in the Uk, we don’t have children born by this method yet. Are you the first OP?

This is one of the weirdest thread ever.
However, I'm still strangely drawn into wanting to find out if OP managed to get an appointment.

Biologically speaking a child will always have 1 father and 1-3 mothers.

Biologically, a child has one mother and one father.

I have 2 degrees but still find the context of your post a hostile one. Words can have duel meaning but used in certain context only one meaning is apparent. Refusing to take no for an answer is not a request its a forceful domineering demand. You say Im sorry but Ive only just heard of this appointment and the time is not suitable so I will need to reschedule is it possible to have a meeting at x or Y and discuss a mutually acceptable time.....bearing in mind any time set outside of nursery hours will probably be unpaid by the staff and any time inside work hours will be taking staff away from working with children and may not be possible.

Did the school board acquiesce to your demand and give you a new time? Or are the interviews on hold post the very reasonable sacking of the entire school staff?.............
