To demand a parents evening meeting when I next have to pick my son up?

OnlyParentsAreReal · 31/10/2017 19:37

I was informed today at pick up that it's parents evening tomorrow (first time I'm hearing of this) and my time slot is 7.15pm! I immediately said that wasn't possible as that is past my son's bed time to which they replied "oh well". There are a few things I've been meaning to bring up with them anyway and my son isn't in tomorrow. Would I be unreasonable to demand a parent's evening meeting next time Im there for pick up?

Biologically yes. Genetically no

Well when someone is attempting to rewrite the english language it 'encourages' discussion Smile

bialystockandbloom · 01/11/2017 14:43

OP do you actually know of any children born from a father+mother+mitochondrial material from donor+surrogate?

upperlimit · 01/11/2017 14:44

Twelve pages in and I haven't rtft but how sideways on a discussion about parent's evening go?

Anyway, from your op it sounds as though you have important things to discuss which is hard to do in the five minute chat you get at parent's evening. I'd just phone and ask to arrange a meeting for a more in depth chat at another time.

GoddessofWisdom · 01/11/2017 14:44

Why is the OP trying to change the subject?

Bunnychopz · 01/11/2017 14:44

Yes ask for another time/date that suits you both.

SoupDragon · 01/11/2017 14:48

Biologically yes. Genetically no

No, just legally.

OnlyParentsAreReal · 01/11/2017 14:54

Like I said biologically because you can find trace evidence until they are at least 10 and the woman who carries the baby will switch on and off certain genes. The child would be a different person if they were carried by someone else

Ladies, I thought this was advising a nutter about a parent and toddler evening ffs.
Why are we asking her about biology, it isn't relevant

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/11/2017 15:01

Can someone please explain how we've gone from demand a parents evening slot be changed to a biology lesson. Mind you, on second thoughts. No don't try and explain as I won't even understand
I think I'd rather stay a confused twitGrin

dissapointedafternoon · 01/11/2017 15:03

@Awwlookatmybabyspider hahahaha

WitchesHatRim · 01/11/2017 15:06

BenLui · 01/11/2017 15:09

brabenot · 01/11/2017 15:19

Willow. I seeee.. I think i'll get the hang of it Confused

brabenot · 01/11/2017 15:26

only did you manage to change your appointment and did you demand it politely? Smile

PerfumeIsAMessage · 01/11/2017 16:18

Last night I left this on every single sentient being (male, female or small furry animal) except the OP being ignorant (apparently) as to the meaning of the word "demand"
Clicking through to the last page today I find I am on what appears now to be the biggest dripfeed in MN history, and by heck, that's putting it in illustrious company.

Anyway, have you done your demanding yet?

Mammylamb · 01/11/2017 16:25

OP. Is English a second language for you? What is an only parent? What age is your child? Why did you only just find out about the parents night?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 01/11/2017 16:33

An Only Parent according to the (one) blog I can find banging on about it, seems to have it as a synonym more or less for single parent, but single parent (apparently) is offensive because it implies said single person is out cruising for a partner.
On the OP's planet it appears to be something quite spectacularly different.

edwinbear · 01/11/2017 17:09

Even if he didn't it's still way too late for a 4 year old to be waking out in the streets in the middle of town. Especially in the Halloween to Guy Fawkes week.

I want to know why 4 year olds can't be outside in between Halloween and bonfire night? Do they turn into pumpkins or something?

ineedamoreadultieradult · 01/11/2017 17:54

Er Confused

ChocolateWombat · 01/11/2017 17:54

Have decided this thread is a troll having a laugh...it is beyond ridiculous.
Firstly, no-one real could continue to argue for almost 300 messages that their idea of what the word 'demand' means is right when every other poster (and there are a huge number) has said what is it means and that it's inappropriate for the circumstances.
Secondly this stuff about being an 'only parent' is ridiculous too, as is the 3 mother thing - must be designed to wind people up.

I conclude we either have a troll or someone who has lost touch with reality and who has no idea about appropriate and positive interaction in real life or online. If it's real, then as many have said, the OP has a long career ahead of conflict with educational establishments, never mind online.

The best advice has been to moderate her tone and attitude - that includes to people in real life, but also online too. However, trolls don't like to do that and if this OP is real, I doubt she will want to either.

I'm off - I've wasted enough of my life on this one.

MSLehrerin · 01/11/2017 18:25

I’m sitting here patiently eating peppermint Aeros and drinking tea awaiting the OP to update us on how the demand for a change of appointment date and time went. I’m that bored. 😃

Can’t wait for the film of this to come out either....

Bahhhhhumbug · 01/11/2017 18:37

Yum peppermint aero. Give us a bit whilst we wait.

Bahhhhhumbug · 01/11/2017 18:38

I demand a bit in fact

BenLui · 01/11/2017 18:40

I assume that the reason the OP hasn’t replied to requests for an update is that she called the school and without any problems at all secured a new appointment?
