AIBU?

To demand a parents evening meeting when I next have to pick my son up?

OnlyParentsAreReal · 31/10/2017 19:37

I was informed today at pick up that it's parents evening tomorrow (first time I'm hearing of this) and my time slot is 7.15pm! I immediately said that wasn't possible as that is past my son's bed time to which they replied "oh well". There are a few things I've been meaning to bring up with them anyway and my son isn't in tomorrow. Would I be unreasonable to demand a parent's evening meeting next time Im there for pick up?

That’s the way most sensible and parents who want to work in partnership with their child’s teachers do it @HollowCity. Tends to be more successful too 😃 sandlot not everyone so sensible.

Few months back DS had an appointment for pre-school parent's evening and it was too late - had a newborn baby at home. ASKED if we could reschedule and no problems. No demanding or batshit entitlement necessary.

It depends what you mean by demand.

Obviously demand and 'ask but not accepting no for an answer' are very different things.

Really, people like you turn up on threads and never bother to clarifiy which of the 37 versions of a word you are using do my head in. GrinGrin

Personally, i am requesting an update from OP but most certainly would not be happy if she says no. 😂

Oh, and the op’s dc is in a fee paying nursery, so she is paying for the service.

Then the OP is being hard done by then.
My DS is in a state school.

I understand what you mean. But you'd still be U too. I had to cancel my parents evening at short notice recently. Teacher was very understanding and will rearrange at a later date when they have the spare time. Contrary to popular belief, teachers dont have oodles or spare time.

I've always found the schools to be accommodating if I can't do a parents evening, even if short notice, just say that dont work for you and ask for an afternoon one?

That was your flounce when posters pointed out you can't just demand what you like.

I'm starting to think you might actually just be a GF.

This thread has left me like Confused da fuq?

OnlyParents I would just ask if they could change the time or even the date of the meeting. I hope it goes well.

Did the school board acquiesce to your demand and give you a new time? Or are the interviews on hold post the very reasonable sacking of the entire school staff?.............

I have 2 degrees but still find the context of your post a hostile one. Words can have duel meaning but used in certain context only one meaning is apparent. Refusing to take no for an answer is not a request its a forceful domineering demand. You say Im sorry but Ive only just heard of this appointment and the time is not suitable so I will need to reschedule is it possible to have a meeting at x or Y and discuss a mutually acceptable time.....bearing in mind any time set outside of nursery hours will probably be unpaid by the staff and any time inside work hours will be taking staff away from working with children and may not be possible.

Biologically speaking a child will always have 1 father and 1-3 mothers.

Biologically, a child has one mother and one father.

This is one of the weirdest thread ever.
However, I'm still strangely drawn into wanting to find out if OP managed to get an appointment.

Not 2027, 2017, nonetheless. It suggests that in the Uk, we don’t have children born by this method yet. Are you the first OP?

I’ve just googled three person babies and the reports say the first babies might be born late in 2027 in the UK,
