To ask about pubic hair removal?

I’m quite new here not sure where to post this so feel free to move the post.

I just wonder if you remove your pink hair how do you do it? Shaving is making me so sore and itchy, hair removal cream doesn’t seem to work too well, Home waxing kit was pointless and pretty much just took my skin off (ouch!)

Is a proper wax the only way?

Any tips or tricks?

Thank Smile

Hebenon - I think that is fairly unusual, for most women I think the hair continues outside the boundaries of their underwear / swimwear.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 22:38

DavidBowiesNumber1
Us Muslims have been doing it for ages
How long? Is it a religious requirement?

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 01/11/2017 22:40

Down to my knees Heb if I let it Grin

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 01/11/2017 22:41

Yes Melody, every 40something days, maximum

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 22:48

Is it specifically required in Islamic texts? Could you give the reference?

Hebenon · 01/11/2017 22:48

Ah, OK. Thanks. Just curious. Sounds like I am lucky as while I am in favour of just leaving it alone, I also would not like it to be on display to anyone other than my nearest and dearest! My knees are also not hairy. Grin

Iggi999 · 01/11/2017 22:48

Hebenon I don't think it's normal to grow beyond underwear, guess it depends how big the underwear is! A few stragglers maybe.

Hebenon · 01/11/2017 22:51

Ah, a competing viewpoint. My underwear is fairly standard (Gap, M&S etc - neither tiny nor huge). I do have one straggler on my right thigh which I just pluck out now and again.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 22:59

I am actually really curious about the Religious requirement angle to this. If your Diety wants you not to have pubic hair, a foreskin or labia, why did he design us to have these features in the first place?

StillSeekingResponsibleAdult · 01/11/2017 23:09

If no-one had hair beyond the underwear area, there wouldn't be any such thing as a bikini wax! If hair didn't grow outside the bikini area, why would this be a thing?
When I was younger I used to shave round the edges, which was itchy hell. Now I own a swimming costume with a shorts effect bottom and do an occasional trim, as otherwise I have pubes long enough to get tangled and knotted.
I refuse to suffer the pain and indignity of waxing or shaving regrowth.

SmileEachDay · 01/11/2017 23:10

I also love your “irritable” comment HelenaMN.

~nothing more irritable than a shaved fanjo~

lottieandmia22 · 01/11/2017 23:12

Waxing is always the best. The salon I work in has loads of Hollywoods every week.

WhataHexIgotinto · 01/11/2017 23:23

What I find so depressing about this thread is the 'men like/men prefer' etc.

  1. It's a ridiculous generalisation.
  2. Who the fuck cares what 'men prefer' when it comes to your own body.

Utterly depressing to see that some women still think like this.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 23:26

Apparently now God also prefers us to be without that which he designed us to have

WhataHexIgotinto · 01/11/2017 23:27

So Melody when you are menstruating and go to the loo, wipe yourself with paper and see blood, you are quite happy knowing that that blood has been smeared tgrough your lush pubes?

And this is ludicrous. What functioning adult is unable to handle their period without 'smearing blood through their lush pubes' as this was so eloquently put? Sounds like it was written by a 15 year old.

Mcakes · 02/11/2017 00:20

Ha ha Hebenon! It's amazing how little we know about other women's bodies! Mine is a proper bush. Half way to my navel and a good few inches down my thighs and so thick I can run my fingers through it! I have really full head, leg and underarm hair too. Sometimes I like the feeling of being natural and hairy, sometimes I wax. My legs, bikini and underarms usually get done in the summer but I often don't bother in winter. Come to think of it I even shaved my head when I was much younger so have experimented there too.
To the posters getting all het up - it's just hair!

hollowtree · 02/11/2017 00:26

I've had laser hair removal... it's amazing. Painful, but amazing. Cost me £2400 for 8 treatments of my entire body so just that area will be way less. So worth it and works out cheaper in the long run than professional waxing. Which is the only other way to achieve long lasting results without itching or stubble.

HelenaDove · 02/11/2017 01:52

"I don't know any men who would prefer "au naturelle"

This is one of the reasons why ive always preferred much older men.

nameusername · 02/11/2017 02:11

Whose benefit is this for? Yours truly? The advice I've been told is not to do when you're near your period as you tend to be extra sensitive and will feel more pain.

avamiah · 02/11/2017 02:19

I just shave mine in the bath every day , it takes less than one minute. Make sure to use a new razor everytime.
I used to wax but I didn't like waiting for the hair growth .

HelenaDove · 02/11/2017 02:23

Im 44 i have never even trimmed my pubic hair let alone shaved or waxed it..............and i have no intention of starting. No chance. And if a man didnt like it hes not the man for me.

And bollocks to the fetish comment.

TammyswansonTwo · 02/11/2017 06:01

I have never previously heard that Muslim women need to remove their pubic hair - I must admit to being a bit baffled by any religious insistence on body modification. Why would a creator create universally flawed bodies that need to be frequently changed? Is it a cultural issue rather than a strictly religious one? I apologise for being completely ignorant in this area.

TammyswansonTwo · 02/11/2017 06:04

Reading some of the latest comments, I wonder whether many opinions are rooted in how much hair that individual has, and the assumption that this is oretty universal? I mean, I'm happy to leave mine which does continue outside of my underwear but it doesn't go down my thighs or up any further than my mons. Would I feel differently if I had considerably more hair than this, and would I therefore find it strange if other people left it alone? I'm not sure.

If a lot of women do as you do, pretty soon our landfill sites will be full of discarded, once-used razors! Hardly ecologically sound.

David I knew Muslim women removed their body hair (usually by "sugaring" I think - is that right), but I didn't know it was a religious requirement. I had thought about making the comment but I was frightened I would be accused of religious bigotry.

I've been castigated on here before when I have made factual comments and people have assumed that I am being critical.
