Feeling a tad guilty.

Make-up calendars are a good idea especially when you're young and want to experiment but can't afford to buy loads of stuff.
Personally I would think very hard before spending £60 on one but that's mainly cos I already know what I like and what works after decades of practice! I'm getting the M&S beauty one for myself for the same reason, it's fun to try new things and last year I found some great products I'll definitely buy again.

reallyorange · 29/10/2017 12:35

(Want to get DH the Asda cheese one too...)

SweetCrustPastry · 29/10/2017 12:42

It's good to do lavish sometimes and it sounds as if you will both enjoy it Grin

innagazing · 29/10/2017 12:50

LAst years' one from M&S was lovely! My daughter loved it, and I had the few things that she thought she wouldn't use.
Hoping to get her another one this year.

wanna gin advent calendarEnvy

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/10/2017 12:58

Wouldn't you have to keep a cheese advent calendar in the fridge? I'm not sure it'd fit in mine.

Jasminedes · 29/10/2017 13:07

No, yanbu. However, I am calling a halt to seasonal inflation in my buying this year - I am the only culprit in this house and could easily be tempted to buy similar. Saving for other things instead.

Xmasbaby11 · 29/10/2017 13:10

It sounds lovely and she will appreciate it. I've spent £20 each on my dc playmobil advebt calendars and feel vaguely guilty for the same reasons.

I hope she gets lots of pleasure out of It!

bridgetreilly · 29/10/2017 13:30

Advent is supposed to be about waiting and anticipation, not getting presents every day. If you want to buy your daughter nice make up, I'd do it but give it to her for Christmas.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/10/2017 13:34

I suppose you can spend Advent anticipating your credit card bill.

speakout · 29/10/2017 13:38

bridgetreilly celebrations start here on the 1st December. The whole month is packed with festive things in my home.

I'm never really sure what the real AIBU is on these threads. I always thought AIBU was some sort of moral dilemma the reader were supposed to adjudicate on. Now its just seeking affirmation that your actions were correct.

missyB1 · 29/10/2017 13:52

fencesitter you are spot on with that!

Viviennemary · 29/10/2017 13:54

It does sound a lot. But I suppose it's just over £2 per day so not really that much. Buy her a Jo Malone one instead then people can really have a go at you.

ghostyslovesheets · 29/10/2017 13:57

I have a feeling the op just wanted to tell everyone she had spent £60 on a calendar

But I am probably wrong

ButchyRestingFace · 29/10/2017 14:07

I have a feeling the op just wanted to tell everyone she had spent £60 on a calendar

If I'd just dropped £60 on an advent calendar, I'd probably hire a sky writer.

OP is most restrained.

notangelinajolie · 29/10/2017 14:08

It's your money to waste. Just samples which you can get for free if you ask nicely.

WomblingThree · 29/10/2017 14:14

So why did you post?
A) stealth boast about how much you spent
B) stealth boast about how amazing your DD is
C) you’re one of those people who can’t scrath their arse without a round of applause or validation?

Just buy what you want. No-one actually cares.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 29/10/2017 14:15

I'd go for C), personally...

goose1964 · 29/10/2017 14:33

If she will appreciate it and you can afford it why not? If she danced it then I would have bought her a cheap chocolate one from poundland. It over twice as much as I can afford for presents this year

cakedup · 29/10/2017 14:34

No of course you shouldn't feel guilty! (I always get DS a Lego one and we have loads of fun opening it). I think it's a a lovely whole month's worth of presents, even if you have to spend £60 less for an actual Christmas present, it's what she really wants so who cares?

Btw, £60 is a lot of money for me too. But honestly, every single day she is going to get a moment of joy. That's £60 well spent imo. Don't feel guilty or need justification...£60 is not a huge amount in the scheme of things even if you aren't well off. In 6 months time, are you going to open your purse and think "ooh I feel like I'm down £60". No. Just enjoy and move on !

PoppyPopcorn · 29/10/2017 14:35

Really, you are being unreasonable thinking that anyone else apart from you, and perhaps your DD gives a shiny shit about how much you spend. If you can afford it, crack on. If you're getting into debt for it or going without for it, I think you're unhinged, but crack on. Doesn't affect me in any way.

MissionItsPossible · 29/10/2017 15:05

AIBU to ask strangers on the internet whether I'm BU as to what I spend my own money on Hmm Showing off, quite frankly.

grimeofthecentury · 29/10/2017 15:10

You could have got her a couple of bits of really good makeup for that price but if it makes her happy and you don't need the money for something else you can buy her what you want!

RaindropsAndSparkles · 29/10/2017 15:13

Itblookss fantastic. Where did you get it op because I would like to get one for my dd.
