CFN patio doors, sangria, ken from the shop update

Hello all, most of you probably won’t know what I’m on about but for those of you that do, I feel that I owe you an explanation. A friend alerted me to a few threads where I’d been called a troll etc.

I’ve been through a very long process with NDN about the doors (which I had been told were going to be replaced/ wall reinstated etc)

I had also been told by my lawyer that all was fine.

The planning dept have been on my side, as per all previous threads.

This all seemed to be going ahead until I returned home to find half of my flat wall caved in.

I had to move out to stay with a friend. The whole thing has been a total nightmare and it is still not resolved. My wall has been partially fixed, the patio doors remain and no one has seen hide nor hair of NDN or the builders for months.

My flat is now uninhabitable for the foreseeable and there are legal implications, planning laws and listed building laws which all have to be agreed and adhered to before anything will be done, apparently.

This may be terribly outing but I am beyond caring. I was told not to post on here, however, the advice I received was second to none and so I thank you all for that.

My grandma has been unwell so I have been back and forth to Spain, seems like all is against me!

Sorry I disappeared for so long, but you can imagine how awful it has been, I’m in a better place now, so thought it was time to come back and let you know that I’m not some fantasist making up stories about doors 😂

Hope to see some familiar names on the thread!

Just adding my love watty, so sorry it's gone to shit, so glad you've come back for help/support x

ToadsforJustice · 29/10/2017 00:19

Sorry for the update. I was worried about the internal walls of your flat, after I read on one of your other threads about all the hammering and banging that was going on next door.

Love to your lovely Spanish Granny Thanks

WattdeEll · 29/10/2017 00:21

Ah shit Watty, that’s awful. Thanks for the update, hoping things turn in your favour soon.

Anatidae · 29/10/2017 18:09

Is there a mortgage on cfn property? The bank must have at least an address for them,..?

I hope they are private individuals because that’s probably your best hope. No one with halfway normal finances could afford to just up and leave a property permanently.

There must be some kind of paper trail if there’s a mortgage- I wonder if planning or insurance can locate them via forensic financial investigators?

Utter nightmare for you. So sorry and hope you get some good news soon.

LapdanceShoeshine · 29/10/2017 21:04

I don’t think there is a mortgage. It sounds like foreign cash buyers with no clue about even basic UK planning regs, let alone things like listed buildings or conservation areas Hmm

Supermagicsmile · 29/10/2017 21:06

Hope all
Is okay op!

wheresmyphone · 29/10/2017 21:25

Oh gosh😫 poor you. Fingers crossed you get it sorted.

Figgygal · 29/10/2017 21:28

Oh my I'm so glad to hear you've come back but wow what an update? You poor thing

RebootYourEngine · 29/10/2017 21:36

I was hoping for a happier update than this. So sorry to hear what has happened

EvelynWardrobe · 30/10/2017 10:30

@ChristinaParsons what happens in that circumstance, is it a criminal offence, or is it just for solicitors to fight it out between them?

shoeaddict83 · 30/10/2017 15:57

Watty so sorry to hear all this. really thought you had disappeared as it was all resolved. What a nightmare.
best wishes to Spangran, she needs to be on the mend so she can return with her Paella Pan ready for is NDN reappear!

sparkly01 · 31/10/2017 07:41

Glad you’ve updated - I was wondering what had happened!

How rubbish for you!!!

Assume that planning, solicitors etc have checked land registry etc to find out who the owners are.
Shocked council haven’t just put it right and then charged them. Wonder if it’s because they’re worried about not being able to recoup their dosh? Maybe they’ll decide to do that and put a charging order for the costs on the neighbours flat? I hope so for your sake anyway!!

JWrecks · 31/10/2017 08:48

Oh my goodness @Wattyyy, that is HORRIBLE! Oh the unbelievable shits those CFNs are! It's galling!

Thank God you happened to have family matters to tend to that took you out of that flat!! Of course nobody wants to deal with a family emergency and the worry and stress that come with it, but just think, you may otherwise have been in the flat when it all fell in! You could have been killed by that collapsing wall! Oh that is just infuriating. I'm so glad to hear you're okay, SpanGran is doing better, you're getting help with this massive mess, and that you were not hurt by the wall!

Those bastards have flown way beyond simple CFN status into... something far worse! Bloody hell. I hope they find those @#!$ soon and absolutely put them through the legal ringer. This was amusing at first - largely due to your upbeat and good natured attitude, writing style, and fun updates, the way you took it all in stride - but this is fucking monstrous^ now. What an awful turn of events.

I'm so sorry. Flowers

thetemptationofchocolate · 31/10/2017 09:47

Doramaybe this is not a clique, it's just that Watty's threads were huge and a lot of people remember them. We were all astounded at the cheeky fuckery that went on next door to her, and is still going on.

Watty I'm sorry to hear that your gran has been poorly, she made a big impression on us I think! Hope she's now on the mend.

annielouise · 31/10/2017 10:07

What a nightmare. Thanks for the update. I can't believe the amount of trouble they've caused and just disappeared!

milliemolliemou · 31/10/2017 13:10

No solicitor conveyancing a house can avoid the strict (and often ridiculously onerous) rules against money laundering. So presumably someone is hunting down (a) any solicitor involved (b) the previous owners just in case it was a cash-down deal rather than a transfer organised by a solicitor (c) any estate agent or website that might have advertised the property. You can do your own conveyance but you still need documents sworn/Land Registry etc.

Good luck Wattyy. I'm surprised your insurance co isn't putting you up in a hotel - or perhaps you refused so you could stay with friend and pay them. So much for you to cope with.

antshouse · 31/10/2017 15:47

What a mess to leave you with. Hope it gets sorted soon. Has this effected any upstairs neighbours flats?

Drknittingfrog · 31/10/2017 16:13

Sending lots of hugs @watty ! Hope it resolves itself sooner rather than later. I had read the whole original saga and had really hoped you had had a quiet happy ending...

katiekrafter · 31/10/2017 19:52

As a previous lurker - so sorry that you are going through all this hassle. Sounds an absolute nightmare and I do hope it is all sorted out. Hugs to you and your gran. I laughed so much at the original threads and hope it has a happy outcome - not much fun for you. CFs indeed.

Are you the freeholder watty? What an awful time hopefully you’re staying chipper tho x

Djayla · 31/10/2017 23:23

I too had been wondering how things were going for you Watty, disappointed at the way things are panning out for you at the moment. Really hope it is all sorted soon.
Get well wishes to your Gran.

Whinesalot · 31/10/2017 23:39

What a nightmare.

nameusername · 01/11/2017 01:21

I remember your thread and am sorry about the troubles that it keeps on bringing. I'm glad to hear that your Gran is getting better. Any chance your neigbhours have CCTV that may capture number plates of CFN and the builders? From my understanding the land registry often have details of house ownership even if it's own by a corporation.

LakieLady · 01/11/2017 06:28

This is dreadful. It seems incredible that someone can go through all the paperwork and bureaucracy involved in buying a property and then just disappear and be untraceable.

They must have had a solicitor to buy the place and the estate agent that sold it is bound to know who the solicitor was (they keep that info for progress chasing sales). The solicitor must have checked their ID and financial details.

I suppose data protection may prevent them disclosing it, unless someone gets a court order.

But who stumps up for a flat and just disappears when building works go tits up? The cost of putting it right will surely never be less than the flat is worth?

Either way, it's a dreadful position to be in Watty, and they have gone CFs to Absolute Bastards.

Maybe Lapdance is right and they were foreign cash buyers. Perhaps it was Vlad and Vanka!

GreenTulips · 01/11/2017 09:24

Well I think they should've taken out insurance for the building work, there's a specific section to cover damage to third party walls etc, so it's the builders not the owners as such that should have provided that cover. If the builders are dodgy then it's unlikely they have insurance and unlikely they mentioned it to the owners

The owners may not have had insurance either - but even then the work wouldn't be covered, except for third party liability.

Have you called your insurers OP? They usually pay up and then settle with other insurers.
