CFN patio doors, sangria, ken from the shop update

Hello all, most of you probably won’t know what I’m on about but for those of you that do, I feel that I owe you an explanation. A friend alerted me to a few threads where I’d been called a troll etc.

I’ve been through a very long process with NDN about the doors (which I had been told were going to be replaced/ wall reinstated etc)

I had also been told by my lawyer that all was fine.

The planning dept have been on my side, as per all previous threads.

This all seemed to be going ahead until I returned home to find half of my flat wall caved in.

I had to move out to stay with a friend. The whole thing has been a total nightmare and it is still not resolved. My wall has been partially fixed, the patio doors remain and no one has seen hide nor hair of NDN or the builders for months.

My flat is now uninhabitable for the foreseeable and there are legal implications, planning laws and listed building laws which all have to be agreed and adhered to before anything will be done, apparently.

This may be terribly outing but I am beyond caring. I was told not to post on here, however, the advice I received was second to none and so I thank you all for that.

My grandma has been unwell so I have been back and forth to Spain, seems like all is against me!

Sorry I disappeared for so long, but you can imagine how awful it has been, I’m in a better place now, so thought it was time to come back and let you know that I’m not some fantasist making up stories about doors 😂

Hope to see some familiar names on the thread!

Thank you for the update, Watty, even if's not great news. Sending love to SpanGran x

TooManyPaws · 28/10/2017 12:07

I'm too new to have read your previous threads but you have my sympathy and best wishes.

I was unable to live in my own flat due to the actions of a neighbour (flooding, followed by ceiling collapse and giant fungi); the council accepted me as homeless as I was unable to live there and gave me a council flat for which the insurance paid the rent. Might that be a temporary way forward to at least have all your things safe and around you? It took nearly two years before everything was sorted out and my own flat liveable again.

StefMay · 28/10/2017 14:59

Long time lurker of every thread who very much enjoyed your assertive approach to CFN and the witty songs/poems that ensured.

Was hoping this was a positive update - really gutted for you that it is not.

I suspect you are under a policy linked to the building as a leaseholder so likely to be trickier with insurers.

What do your insurers say? I'm hoping they will take on the legal battles for you - this is usually how it works as they''ll want to recover the monies for repairs.

All the best and looking forward to a better outcome for you x

ChasedByBees · 28/10/2017 18:54

Really sorry to read that things went so wrong Whaaty. Hope that things get sorted soon.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 28/10/2017 19:01

Watty! I’ve missed you! So sorry to hear that this saga is ongoing, and in such a dramatic way. Poor Abuela, SpanGranPracatan, love and best wishes to her and to you. We’re here if you need us CakeFlowersGin

WhatIsThisWatt · 28/10/2017 19:06

Ahh I’m so touched by all your kind words and it’s nice to know you have been thinking of me.

It’s as if CFN have just disappeared off the face of the earth. There’s legal implications which mean the need to be contacted by various parties and no one can trace them.

I’m worried something seriously dodgy was happening. Who can just disappear?

Glittertwins · 28/10/2017 19:15

So sorry that this is dragging on.

kali110 · 28/10/2017 19:17

I cant believe this is still going on.
If they think they're going to have to stump up a load of money they may well do a runner!

BriechonCheese · 28/10/2017 19:18

OP this is just terrible. Did you know the people who lived there previously? I wonder if they could provide the details of the solicitors of the new owner.
Or even the previous owner of your house? They might have details of the previous owners of next door.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 28/10/2017 19:23

WhatIsThisWatt if your solicitor or insurance company wants to find them, they will be able to. Property ownership records, the Land Registry etc are all accessible to them.

Sunshinegirl82 · 28/10/2017 19:27

Have you tried instructing a tracing agent? They usually do it on a no find, no fee basis.

44PumpLane · 28/10/2017 19:43

Oh Watty I often wondered what had happened with the patio doors and now I know it's such a terrible update all round!

Hope SpanGran gets better soon and I hope sincerely that the situation resolves itself quickly and with a good result..... by honestly what an absolute nightmare this has all been for you!!!

greenlanes · 28/10/2017 19:44

I am sorry to read your update. I read your many threads over the summer, open mouthed at the CFN behaviour. I like many had assumed your quietness meant that work to remedy was progressing but slowly. Sorry to hear that is not the case.

But how did the wall collapse? Did the builders come back and carry on working or was it through their original works? I thought you had obtained van details etc. I cant believe the builders are totally untrackable. I find solicitors to be very cautious - should the police be involved? The only very small silver lining seems to be that CFN own property - although if there is a large mortgage.

Anyway I wish you so well . It is horrible when one's home is ruined by others.

WhatIsThisWatt · 28/10/2017 19:44

Viv that’s what I thought. No one can find them.

They don’t seem to be registered anywhere.

They’ve either fled the country or are some kind of master criminal gang. Which is a half joke but scary thought at the same time.

OP posts:
Madamepomfrey · 28/10/2017 19:54

So have they ever found them or all this time have they remained a mystery?

Raindancer411 · 28/10/2017 20:02

So pleased to see you and to have an update. I was hoping that no news was good news but was sad to see the situation now. Glad Gran is on the mend x

LapdanceShoeshine · 28/10/2017 20:20

I was assuming they paid with vast amounts of cash to enable them to be so vague, mysterious & untraceable.

But somebody must have a handle on them - estate agent, vendor, vendor solicitor, land registry??? You can't buy property in this country without leaving a bit of a paper trail!

mikeyssister · 28/10/2017 21:06

Sorry to hear all your news Watty, like many others I felt that your threads were resolved nicely.

I expected everything to be put back to normal and you'd get on with your life and Supergran or friend would become an item with Ken.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Supergran and I look forward to the day you post that you're back home again.

Stillonthatbloodycomputer · 28/10/2017 21:25

Watty I apologise if it's already been done as I'm sure all avenues have been explored but didn't you say in one of the original posts that you'd managed to get the builders address or number, can the CFN be traced via them ?

HashiAsLarry · 28/10/2017 21:54

Did someones solicitor not do the appropriate checks?

DartmoorDoughnut · 28/10/2017 22:01

Oh bloody hell Watt that’s a horrible update!!

Glad SG is recovering, hopefully some of her sangria will speed things along!

ChristinaParsons · 28/10/2017 22:02

Bloody hell! I’m a conveyancer and sadly we see things like this a lot. Only last week I had to deal with a case where a neighbour decided to remove a chimney whilst our client was on holiday which resulted in our clients house being structurally unsound. She came home to be told your house isn’t safe to live in.

nonevernotever · 28/10/2017 22:13

Yet another who followed all ten previous threads and had hoped that everything was now slowly resolving. Really really sorry to see this update and to hear that your Abuela has been so unwell. Flowers and Wine to you both

64BooLane · 28/10/2017 22:35

Sorry to hear about all this, Watt Wine

tillytown · 28/10/2017 22:39

Hope your Gran is feeling better. What happened with the shop keeper and your friend? Did they run off into the sun set together?
