Please help! I can't kill it, I've been hitting it with a copy of Time Out and the bastard thing won't die. What is it? My parrot is going nuts!

You've been hitting it with a copy of Time Out for how long!?

Maybe it's escaped from a robotics lab. Grin

Can't you just chuck it out the window?

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/10/2017 15:01

I think I've been watching too many old episodes of the X Files but it is a Demon Robot Bog From Hell clearly.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/10/2017 15:02

Bug

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:02

Long enough to bust the magazine! I'm calming down the parrot now: he thought he was the only flying thing in the house, he's hiding under my arm.

Hoover it.

The MN bug protection league will be along shortly to tell us all how cruel we are.

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:04

Thanks, LittleLights!

Where are you Stoat because that list from Lights website is near me?

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:05

Hang on a minute, it can't be one of those, I'm in London.

Kill it, Raid or similar will probably work. Insects and arachnids come into the home uninvited, don't pay rent, and need to be killed to prevent them coming back.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/10/2017 15:07

Makes sense. Otherwise it would be repeatedly hit with a Canadian paper. Not Time Out!

Cornettoninja · 25/10/2017 15:07

I agree with phosphorus, chuck it out the window.

You don't want the mother coming to find you Grin

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:08

I'm on the 4th floor of a new building, and I NEVER get insects in here, not even spiders. I wonder where it came from? I'll go and get some insect killer. Thanks for giving me somewhere to flail!

Does it have a stripy bottom - if so I think it might be an Asian Hornet.

If so - kill it!

They have been invading our British bee hives and killing our native honey bees. Apparently they rip out the thorax and leave the rest, because it's full of protein.

Jimbobjovi · 25/10/2017 15:13

I think it's a mud dauber wasp - they're freaky but totally non-aggressive.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mud_dauber

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:17

Jim no, I don't think it's that, it doesn't have a narrow waist. It's not an Asian Hornet either, know.

It's about 2 inches long... I can't face killing it, I'm going to throw it out. In a few minutes...

Soapy water does the trick if you don't have anything else.

ohhereweareagain · 25/10/2017 15:22

don't kill it, put a glass over it with a piece of card' underneath & put the poor bugger outside Confused

icclemunchy · 25/10/2017 15:22

If you contact killgerm they have an entomology team who will Id it fornyou. 2inches is huge!!

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2017 15:22

Thank you, MrsTerry. I might stun it first with soapy water then bung it.

Dont hurt it, just chuck it outside.
It does look just like what we had in the house a few weeks ago!

stalkingfred · 25/10/2017 17:32

Honestly, what is wrong with people just smashing and killing insects? Just put it outside. It's not a bloody velociraptor.

Weedsnseeds1 · 25/10/2017 21:44

Send it to these people

It's probably harmless.
Or possibly deadly.
It'll be one or the other, I expect.
