Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

I think it’s great for people who regret things, etc.

Saw it at the end of that film in cinemas.

Thought it was great Grin

"If in doubt dont" must be the worst quote ever to live by. By nature you soubtvthe unknown so you'd never try anything New!

I don't live by quotes I find them a bit naff but I know that things you dread often turn out better than expected and life is unpredictable. And that it is impossible to be happy all the time but you will have happy moments.

The best form of attack is defence

If you don't know what to do.....do nothing

Treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself

Marry in haste repent at your leisure

Don't count your chickens before they have hatched

MrsOverTheRoad · 24/10/2017 06:42

It's actually "Attack is the best form of defence"

mcpound · 24/10/2017 06:46

"The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, etc...
No thanks. I know a few people like this and it's exhausting!!

Remember, every corpse on Mount Everest was once a highly motivated individual.GrinGrin Blimey!!

I like Skippingabeat
"chuck it in the fuck-it bucket and move on"
my new mantra!

user1497997754 · 24/10/2017 06:46

Really how can you attack if your defence is bad......

JoJoSM2 · 24/10/2017 06:46

I'm an optimist and my other favourite is 'If life deals you lemons, make lemonade'.

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 24/10/2017 06:49

It’s factually correct but not inspiring. Regret takes many years, not days to leave behind. Having witnessed someone close experience something traumatic and forever life changing, I really struggle with supposedly inspirational quotes. No, things won’t be ok in the end for my friend. Things will forever be shit.

Mintychoc1 · 24/10/2017 06:50

There is no wealth but life

I love that one. I've used it to justify holidays I couldn't really afford !

mcpound · 24/10/2017 06:51

I find "Life's shit then you die" particularly inspiring

DuchessofManchester · 24/10/2017 06:51

"Everything will be okay in the end....if it's not okay it's not the end."

user1497997754 · 24/10/2017 06:53

What goes around comes around

Life is what you make it

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 24/10/2017 06:53

That’s the one I particularly hate Duchess. Things will never be ok for my friend.

I've always loved: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it" - WC Fields

InigoTaran · 24/10/2017 06:59

Bit naff but when I was younger this quote from Cosmopolitan magazine really helped me after a break up ( of which there were many! )

“There’s always somebody else”

And eventually there always was!Smile

dudsville · 24/10/2017 07:03

These have given me a chuckle and some of the writers are great with a turn of phrase! I never remember quotes but your one op is something akin to what I sometimes think. If I'm in a boring ass meeting I usually realise that these are moments of my finite existence dripping away from me. Pisses me off!

Theducksarenotmyfriends · 24/10/2017 07:04

My favourite quote is about encouraging kindness:

Each of us is leading a difficult life, and when we meet people we are seeing only a tiny part of the thinnest veneer of their complex, troubled existences. To practise anything other than kindness towards them, to treat them in any way save generously, is to quietly deny their humanity. - Derren Brown

Time waits for no man....or woman

Pandrawerschangedmylife · 24/10/2017 07:05

Apparently this is a Michelle Obama quote

"When they go low, you go high"

Good way of keeping your eye on the prize and not getting pulled into silly disputes

Wh1stles · 24/10/2017 07:05

My friend who left her husband and bought a bar in Spain says ''It's only too late if you don't start now!''.

And that's GREAT advice but it depends what it is you're going to start. I am not going to start a degree now because it would lead to a career I might be trying to break in to. I'm already facing ageing discrimination in the workplace so it could be a very frustrating waste of time to decide to be a lawyer [as if] I might do one related to a field I'm already in.
I might become the next Vivienne Westwood. There's time for that.

Most of Maya Angelou but love this one and failing totally at it 😄
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

But she was knackered so she didn't.

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Quietvoiceplease · 24/10/2017 07:44

If you fancy a laugh, google 'demotivating quotes'.
How about:
“Nothing says "you're a loser" more than owning a motivational poster about being a winner.”
