To think M&S is trying to ruin Halloween by lying to me?!

(Light hearted of course!)

I’m going to a Halloween party with good friends of mine, and whenever we’re together for a special occasion we always get a Colin the Caterpillar cake because it’s delicious.

We saw adverts for a Count Colin the Caterpillar cake - their special Halloween version - and we’ve all checked in lots of M&S stores, but haven’t seen one anywhere! We’ve been to stores in London, Oxford, and Birmingham (we all live in different cities), and though they have lots of other fun Halloween treats, we can’t find Count Colin in a single shop. We checked online and you can’t order him there either!

So... am I being unreasonable to think that Count Colin was a clever ruse by M&S all along, or has anyone else managed to find one?!

Victoryyyyyyy! Well done mumsnet. And I'm sure that Count Colin will taste all the sweeter for all our hard work!

Gazelda · 26/10/2017 22:17

What time does M&S close? I need a Colin!

BarbaraofSevillle · 27/10/2017 15:12

Still looking for my baby Count Colins This morning's trip yielded a £10 Dine In Deal with the main that I wanted, but no baby Count Colins.

They did have one single solitary Big Count Colin, but I didn't buy that because I can't justify £7 on cake just for me and DP and I did suspect that M&S were trying that dodgy pet shop trick of leaving the last one in the litter on it's own so someone feels sorry for it and buys it and I am above falling for that sort of trick.

Anyway, going to have one last try tomorrow morning at another M&S and that's it, I will give up and do without Count Colins.

But googling to see if there are any tips on where they are available or not, revealed the forthcoming........ Drum Roll..........

CHRISTMAS COLINS!!!! So if I don't get my Count Colins or even if I do I might wait for these babies instead. Article doesn't say when they'll be in the shops, but it will probably be in a week or two when Halloween and Bonfire night is out of the way and they really start to ramp up the great Christmas retail extravaganza.

I shouldn’t read posts like this when I’m pregnant. I now want a Count Colin more than anything else in the WHOLE WORLD.

LaurieMarlow · 27/10/2017 16:02

Got one today. And in Ireland, so I wasn't hopeful. He's adorable. smugface

lookingforthecorkscrew · 27/10/2017 16:09

Have texted DH to bring me one home from King’s Cross, if they have any. Told him to walk over to St Pancras if they don’t. 😂

LaBelleSausage · 27/10/2017 16:16

I’ve seen them everywhere! Clearly no demand when I am for them

mygorgeousmilo · 27/10/2017 16:18

corkscrew I got mine at St Pancras and there were loads, so here’s hoping!

PestoSwimissimos · 27/10/2017 16:23

He was in the Brighton store on Monday

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 27/10/2017 16:34

Someone brought a Count Colin into the office today. I may have got rather excited!

AnnabellaH · 27/10/2017 16:36

About 60 of them just unloaded in Liverpool Blush may have bought 2!

mamasiz · 27/10/2017 16:37

His face! Grin

DropZoneOne · 27/10/2017 20:29

I wanted 3 packs of baby colins but there were only two on the halloween display. I went to the cake section expecting to find more but no! So went back to halloween section and someone else has bought one of the packs. So i have just one pack of baby colins and DD has already snaffled two of them

Crumpets4tea · 27/10/2017 21:32

I won big Count Colin in a raffle today, so excited!

Hollipopsmum · 27/10/2017 23:13

Dd2s birthday party on Sunday- have to get some Count Colin’s because I’m a lazy sod and can’t be bothered making cakes - I mean the kids will love them 👻 🎃

PumpkinSquash · 27/10/2017 23:15

I saw a big Count Colin today! Didn't buy him though. Smile

MorrisZapp · 27/10/2017 23:16

Ditto, two Colins bought here. I'm nae a baker.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 27/10/2017 23:22

DD got given a mini one for free by a nice m&s worker in Edinburgh today Halloween Smile

Sugarcoma · 27/10/2017 23:27

I’m in NW London and there was a bunch* of Count Colins in my local M&S.

*What is the collective noun for a group of Count Colins? A pack? A litter? A murder?

Anyway I bought 2. And if it wasn’t for this thread I wouldn’t have even heard about them but as soon as I heard there weren’t many available I wanted them immediately so now I’m wondering whether this was started by someone on the M&S social media team.

Jasminedes · 28/10/2017 18:52

We got a count colin entirely because of this thread, thanks!

ThorsMistress · 28/10/2017 23:30

There's an M & S food store a 5 minute walk from me. Might just have to nip down tomorrow....

Givemeallthechocolate · 28/10/2017 23:46

Milton Keynes Bletchleys M&S has baby count Colin's. My husband bought 3 packs. So flipping excited. I did tell him off, because how can Colin support 18 babies? Connie doesn't even exist in this scenario, just how will he cope?! I know. I'm too invested, but seriously Colin doesn't need that shit.

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/10/2017 09:48

I got 3 packs too chocolate. Big Colin certainly has been putting it about a bit. They were on 3 for 2, so if you're buying one pack, you might as well get 3.

I gave one pack to DSis, who gave one to her 2 YO grandson who proceeded to mash it into the new sofa Blush.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 29/10/2017 09:50

There’s loads in my local M&S!

Givemeallthechocolate · 30/10/2017 07:47

Barbaraofseville! I hope they come out of the sofa?!

I never thought about it that way, but it makes sense why there's no Connie now. At our party last night Colin just sat and watched our guests murder and eat his children.

I didn't know about the 3 for 2- was unimpressed at the look of their ghost bites, but as per, they were really yummy!
