‘My god girl- You’re pregnant.’

Said by a Dr to a 14 year old me.

A counsellor when I was a student said, You can't change how you feel, but you can change your behaviour in reaction to it.

PorklessPie · 03/01/2018 16:10

12 weeks scan whilst seeing the heartbeat- I'm sorry but there is no skull, it has anencephaly.

Mil- It was the grief of your dads death that caused it (he had died 6 months previous).

What mil failed to tell me until afterwards that there was a massive history of neural tube defects in her family, including her having a child with spina bifida.

Quickerthanavicar · 03/01/2018 16:26

How can I help? - locum doctor who was the first person I told about being bullied at work and how I planned to kill myself as a result. He tried to sign me off work and I wouldn't let him. Two days later I left work and never went back.

When can you start? - My new boss, I went to meet him for coffee. My reply was, 'Start what?"

Will you both be his godfathers? My DP and I being asked to be godparents to dear Godson.

It's funny but you can clap your hands behind his head and he doesn't flinch. My sister with her two-year old beginning to realise that her son, my beautiful nephew is different. He has autism and started 'special' school today.

We've got this - my sister and I say this to each other all the time.

greenhighlighter · 03/01/2018 16:27

"is there twins in your family?"

Likeindie · 03/01/2018 17:21

joystir59 · 03/01/2018 17:29

"it wasn't your fault" spoken by the man who became my DH, when I told him I had been sexually abused as a teenager. I was blamed by my family, and expected DH to blame me to and then dump me.

TroysMammy · 03/01/2018 17:30

"Hello Auntie" and
"The complaints department is being centralised, you are going to be made redundant". YAY

Lkdsa · 03/01/2018 17:33

“Go home and get your hospital bag, don’t bother with the babies, you won’t be leaving with one”
When my daughters CDH was picked up at a scan at 36 weeks. I asked if she would survive it and was told no. She’ll be three soon.

DecisionTree · 03/01/2018 17:37

"You are the architect of your own happiness"

I read this recently and something in me shifted - a lightening bolt moment if realisation as it were

Crumbs1 · 03/01/2018 17:38

“You know daddy’s not going to make it, don’t you? “ Said by neighbour the night my father died.
“With this ring I thee wed” Said by my husband on our wedding day.
“Did you know it’s twins?” We had thought we’d stop at four!

Gabilou · 03/01/2018 17:55

My favourite was ‘no Mrs C, you’re not a psychopath, you’re just very ill but that’s why you’re here - to get well’. My psychologist relieving me of my then deepest fear!

Gabilou · 03/01/2018 18:00

Hang on - the absolute best thing and most life changing thing was my mum ‘if you don’t feel that huge rush of love when baby arrives, don’t panic chicken. It’ll come and I’ll love you while you wait’. All pregnant mummy’s need to hear that, because one of them will need it.

enterthedragon · 03/01/2018 18:03

"I'm so sorry, there are 2 more heart defects, one of which is likely to cause severe brain damage" said to us 10 days after 2 heart defects had been seen during a scan.

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 03/01/2018 19:06

"We're arresting you under suspicion of possessing indecent images of children"

Said at 5:45am to my now ex partner. Absolutely broke my heart, I had no idea.

Thisnamechanger · 03/01/2018 19:09

"go out with someone who makes you the best version of yourself"

Andrewofgg · 03/01/2018 19:12

Dowser · 03/01/2018 19:20

My second husband’s beautiful marriage proposal.
Even though I new it was coming, it was amazing.
I just wish I could remember the words.!

LemonShark · 03/01/2018 19:21

Lemon, come back to the hospital. I think your mum is gone.

'You think? Or she's dead?'

She's dead.

LegallyBrunet · 03/01/2018 19:23

'We are pleased to offer you offer you a place at X College, to study Access to HE: Law'- I applied on a whim, aced the interview, graduated with distinction and am now back at uni
'If you need a house for next year why don't you live with my friend?' Said to me by an ex friend whilst I was looking for somewhere for to live. I agreed, me and the friend I moved in with have been together two years.
'Your little brother has severe cerebral palsy' Said to me and four of my siblings by mum when she came back from the hospital crying with our now teenage brother.

gillybeanz · 03/01/2018 19:24

We celebrated our silver wedding last year.

moolady1977 · 03/01/2018 19:24

MrsBobDylan · 03/01/2018 19:46

"Hope is the hardest thing to let go" said by my long term Counsellor. With her help I let go of my hope that my Mum would love me. And I was free.
