I’ll start.

‘My god girl- You’re pregnant.’

Said by a Dr to a 14 year old me.

A counsellor when I was a student said, You can't change how you feel, but you can change your behaviour in reaction to it.

12 weeks scan whilst seeing the heartbeat- I'm sorry but there is no skull, it has anencephaly.

Mil- It was the grief of your dads death that caused it (he had died 6 months previous).

What mil failed to tell me until afterwards that there was a massive history of neural tube defects in her family, including her having a child with spina bifida.

How can I help? - locum doctor who was the first person I told about being bullied at work and how I planned to kill myself as a result. He tried to sign me off work and I wouldn't let him. Two days later I left work and never went back.

When can you start? - My new boss, I went to meet him for coffee. My reply was, 'Start what?"

Will you both be his godfathers? My DP and I being asked to be godparents to dear Godson.

It's funny but you can clap your hands behind his head and he doesn't flinch. My sister with her two-year old beginning to realise that her son, my beautiful nephew is different. He has autism and started 'special' school today.

We've got this - my sister and I say this to each other all the time.

When my daughters CDH was picked up at a scan at 36 weeks. I asked if she would survive it and was told no. She’ll be three soon.

I read this recently and something in me shifted - a lightening bolt moment if realisation as it were

“You know daddy’s not going to make it, don’t you? “ Said by neighbour the night my father died.
“With this ring I thee wed” Said by my husband on our wedding day.
“Did you know it’s twins?” We had thought we’d stop at four!

My favourite was ‘no Mrs C, you’re not a psychopath, you’re just very ill but that’s why you’re here - to get well’. My psychologist relieving me of my then deepest fear!

Hang on - the absolute best thing and most life changing thing was my mum ‘if you don’t feel that huge rush of love when baby arrives, don’t panic chicken. It’ll come and I’ll love you while you wait’. All pregnant mummy’s need to hear that, because one of them will need it.

"I'm so sorry, there are 2 more heart defects, one of which is likely to cause severe brain damage" said to us 10 days after 2 heart defects had been seen during a scan.

"We're arresting you under suspicion of possessing indecent images of children"

Said at 5:45am to my now ex partner. Absolutely broke my heart, I had no idea.

"go out with someone who makes you the best version of yourself"

"The test is POSITIVE" by DW. That red line is 33 next month.

Outcome I meant not ending

Two for me
On two seperate occasions 'I'm sorry but it is cancer'

Followed several years later by 'you can't get pregnant (chemo/age etc) but you bloody are'

My second husband’s beautiful marriage proposal.

'Your little brother has severe cerebral palsy' Said to me and four of my siblings by mum when she came back from the hospital crying with our now teenage brother.

I now pronounce you man and wife
We celebrated our silver wedding last year.

"I love you and have since the day I met you" , said to me while I was heavily pregnant with my dd said by my dsf who was dying

"can you come home it's dad he died", said by my dm less than 2 weeks later

"Hope is the hardest thing to let go" said by my long term Counsellor. With her help I let go of my hope that my Mum would love me. And I was free.
