I’ll start.

‘My god girl- You’re pregnant.’

Said by a Dr to a 14 year old me.

SittingAround1 · 18/10/2018 22:49

He died this morning.

and

You have a healthy baby - said to me twice. I'm so incredibly lucky.

emmylousings · 18/10/2018 22:51

Moanyoldcow, for me, yours puts everything - and everyone else's 'single sentence' into sharp relief. That is such a tough star. Many people will experience terrible things such as the death of a child - or serious illness - along the way, but to start out as an adult with such volume of grief; that you are still here to tell that story is amazing in itself.

wonkylegs · 18/10/2018 22:51

You have rheumatoid arthritis

I was 19 - relieved I knew why I was so ill but not understanding at the time how much my life would be affected by it.

ARoomSomewhere · 18/10/2018 22:51

Dont tell such wicked lies (my mother)
'we are not going to prosecute' (the CPS)
'will you marry me?'
'im sorry but there is no heart beat' (x4)
'its a boy', 'its a girl'
'a clear diagnosis of autism'
I'm leaving you

wow. couldnt choose.
now i see a life in 7 sentences.
i'm going to try to 'write' the rest...

she loved her kids
and they were happy
and she found peace?

OhNoes · 18/10/2018 22:54

"Just remember children, that every day we're a day nearer to our graves".

A message that was cheerily given in a junior school assembly by our local vicar, Mr Godfrey. It''s always stuck with me and now I'm very much older, it keeps replaying in my mind.

(a bit depressing, sorry!)

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 18/10/2018 23:07

‘So which universities are you applying to?’ Asked by a friend’s parent with the assumption that university was a viable option for me. None of my family had ever attended university and most had left school by 15. In my world, the possibility had never even been considered. The words opened a doorway to a host of potential futures that might not include getting married by 19, making me realise that I had control over whatever direction my life would move towards.

OptimisticIntrovert · 18/10/2018 23:21

"Yes, he's fine. He's perfect".

The anaesthetist who heloed deliver my beautiful ds, who I had tried for over 5 years to conceive.

Rememberfluffthecat · 18/10/2018 23:24

Some of his blood results have come back normal and some haven't. Said to me and dh the day my seven year old was diagnosed with leukaemia

Geekynzmum · 18/10/2018 23:26

"I told you I could do it" said by me to dh on Sunday after I finished my first (and last) half marathon. 😀
Tuesday I got the results of my smear test saying I have severe abnormal cells, so have to go for a hospital appointment next week to get them checked and possibly removed. 🙁
Then today a job I really want has come up at my work, so I emailed the manager and we're having a chat next week about it. 🙂

There is the heartbeat . Dds beautiful flickering heartbeat at 6 weeks after 3x Mcs. Best day of my life ❤️

PoPpErS1 · 18/10/2018 23:39

You've had a stroke. I was 19. My life changed instantly.

aquashiv · 18/10/2018 23:45

Jump and the Gods will catch you.

Love that phrase. Always dream big.

Les8 · 19/10/2018 00:02

'I hate my life...and I don't particularly enjoy being a father.' - wanker ex-husband.

kateandme · 19/10/2018 00:20

kate.im sorry.your body cant fight this anymore.said then to me.

KitchenDancefloor · 19/10/2018 00:32

'Don't mistake temptation for opportunity'

A timely Chinese fortune cookie that confirmed my suspicions about a cheating ex when I saw his face as it was read out.
He had just been saying his workplace was full of exciting new opportunities.

'There you are. It's you!'

Me to my newborn daughter as she was handed to me for the first time. I had a wave of love and recognition that never subsided.

'He's not going to get better this time'

My DH to my DD letting her know that her precious grandfather was dying. She was so little but understood instantly. Her grief seemed to make the words real. Awful.

'Life is all about loss, losing things that are precious to you one at a time until there is nothing left'

Bollocks! This sentence made me never trust a counsellor on face value again. Certainly not that one. Choose who you confide in wisely. Especially professionals.

Banamara · 19/10/2018 00:43

"love you lots like jelly tots"

Spoken by my gorgeous ASD nephew at four years old. He is now ten and just as loving and such fun. His parents are amazing.

He is the light of my life, I have no children myself.

Moneymatters18 · 19/10/2018 00:50

I'm sorry, we did all we could but she didn't make it.

Said to me and my dad by a paramedic as he came down the stairs in my dad's house when my 41 year old mum passed away suddenly. 2013

Qwertykeyboard789 · 19/10/2018 00:51

“I’m so sorry, but there’s nothing else we can try, and if you don’t terminate, both you and your baby will have just weeks left.”

It’s been a year now, and my Son will never know the sacrifice I made so I could continue to be his Mother 😔❤️

Alaaya · 19/10/2018 00:54

"I think maybe it might be better if you just stayed here tonight"

Doctor who was about to section me. At the time I thought it was the worst thing to ever happen to me, but it turned out to be the best as it got me access to the right meds and support and I was able to start learning to actually manage the condition.

SmokeAndBone · 19/10/2018 01:08

'Daddy's dead'

Kazzfer · 19/10/2018 02:17

“Congratulations your adoption placement has been approved”.
7 years on my beautiful daughters age 10 & 12 are the light of my life.

Ifeelinclined · 19/10/2018 02:26

Oh, @Toooldtobearsed, my heart hurts. I can't imagine how difficult that was for you

SharkLady · 19/10/2018 04:22

Told to me and my 20 year old son 12 weeks ago followed by he has a 50/50 chance and it will cost half a million pounds to treat him..he now needs to find a match for a bone marrow transplant 💔
