Dh has just brought me in half of a hot apple pie on a plate with a fork, I said " I can't eat this it without custard" it's shit isn't it, he said tough just suck it up.

I'm now getting smug slurpy sounds and looks as he shovels his in his gob, and he's eagerly awaiting

I understand the point of these threads...... up until about 7 minutes ago I had no idea Aldi did tinned custard.....or that you could eat it.

Or a McDonalds apple pie with a toffee sundae on the side.

This made me smile. Just because of the sheer disgusting loveliness of it.

The primary function of apple pie is to serve as a foundation for custard. The fact that it's also one of your five a day is just a bonus. Cream or ice cream will do at a pinch, but custard is the gold standard. YANBU.

I sometimes make a pie or a crumble just so I have an excuse for custard. Sometimes I make my own custard (Delia's recipe). That's really indulgent. I even have custard on bread and butter pudding.

Anything involving hot fruit except McDonalds apple pies makes me shudder, so you are both BU!

It needs/needed something, custard, cream, Tip Top (at a push), ice cream. Pie on it's own is like a sandwich with no spread or a scone and jam with no butter.
